Hello, I am a 20 year old male and have been taking accutane (claravis) for about 5 months now. I am taking two 40mg pills twice a day... I have experienced a few annoying side effects but one of the major ones i have noticed is hair loss. I had very thick hair pre-accutane and i noticed hair-thnning lately and my hairline as also been receding. This is driving me crazy. Will this be a permanent side-effect or temporary and will my hair come back to its original hair-line.
I have taken a single course of roaccutane for 6months but with low doses and i have stopped this medictation 2years ago and thank god i have no problems with my digestive system but i have read alot about the IBS & IBD and that they are linked to accutane and that any accutane taker will develop IBS or IBD this is true??? and if what can i do to prevent this??
I took accutane for about a year and right after developed severe joint pain and swelling, and was later diagnosed with lupus. While lupus is supposed to be a genetic disease, I have a feeling that the accutane had something to do with it, or that it may have even caused lupus-like symptoms in me that are now permanent. So while I have clearer skin, i truely think that at the very least the accutane triggered the lupus and the joint pain.
earlier i was on antibiotics and then took accutane...from Feb 2011 to May 2011 i was on doxycycline (and then whn i had another severe acne break out) from Sept 2011 to Dec 2011 i was taking azithromycin and from Jan 2012 to March 2012 i was on tane... i m not ready to take oral medications any more... for nearly past two and a half years i was on antibiotics. my stomach is a complete mess now. COMPLETE MESS!!

I've only been on Accutane (actually, a generic brand of it) for ten days, and I experienced my first migraine on day 9. I am unsure if the migraine could be connected to Accutane, but I did a little research and some instances of migraines have been reported by Accutane users. I am just uncertain because I haven't been on it very long, but I am already experiencing dry lips, so I suppose I could be experiencing other side effects already, too.

17 year old daughter having stomach issues, just got a positive test for celiac, has bad acne, derm wants to put her on accutane. I am worried about the accutane and her stomach. t seem like it is enough for my son, though. His fingers and feet are still hurting. He started Accutane (20/every other day) in September. In 2004 i took accutane against my accne. I took a regular cure for 7 months and then stopped.

I took Accutane in the fall of 2004 and I experienced severe hair loss. (I'm a girl). My hair came out in handfulls for about 6 months. The large amount of hair that usually falls out after washing or brushing hair was falling out every half an hour if i ran my fingers through my hair. I lost about 60% of my hair. It stopped for a few months and started again for a few months to a lesser degree though. And now, 3.5 years later, it stills falls out more frequently than it should.
3 weeks ago I had my 1st eye infection of my entire life in my right eye so I went to an opthamalogist and he told me to stop taking the accutane for a week (which is what he says caused the infection) and put me on doxyclince hyclate 100mg twice a day and eurithromyocin gel to put on my eyelid that knocked the infection out.
Yes, I had mild acne when I was younger and my dermatologist gave me Accutane, a few months later I was in severe abdominal pain, fever, very weak and ended up in the emergency room originally diagnosed with appendicitis only to find out my appendix was perfect at which point they found the diseased portion of the small intestine and diagnosed me with Crohn's. Initially, I had frequent flare ups and was constantly under medication, but slowly and with the help of the Famous Dr.
I took Accutane for a while and I didn't even get a choice... it was automatic from my dr. you get a script for accutane you also get the script for birth control. The risks are crazy with that medication.
My mother has Crohn's Disease and I've had my gallbladder removed. I've been through hell since I had it taken out 2 years ago. Constant diarrhea - and only after I went back to the doctor and was prescribed meds to take the rest of my life, the diarrhea stopped.
I can say, nothing has helped the way accutane has. I got a hair cut and made the mistake of getting my hair texturized. My cousin made a comment about my hair so, now I am concerned about it thinning. Upon further inspection, it feels thinner near the crown but, she did texturize my hair. Also, I was laying on it in a certain spot. I took a video with my phone for further inspection finding nothing but I will keep a close eye on it.
Is rogain out of the question while on accutane?
Is your pain located mainly on your right side? If so have you had your gallbladder checked?? Sometimes when you are having symptoms such as yours, and all of the tests(CT scans, Ultrasounds, MRI) come back normal, it could be a condition called biliary dyskinesia or Acalculous cholecystopathy(gallbladder disease). Which is in essence gallbladder disease without stones. I'm having my gallbladder removed soon because of it.
Ask your doctor for a HIDA Scan.
today and he said that he believed it was indeed from the accutane and dryness it causes and advised I stop using accutate! Well 2 months into this I hate to stop now. I have used everything from creams, lotion, neoaspiren and nothing makes it go away but it does soothe the pain. I have an appointment with my dermatologist on Friday and am going to see what she says. After reading this site I have the EXACT thing as described above so I feel much better that it is from the Accutane.
(Most of my reading online was from relatively dated material) I have been taking Accutane for approximately one month and have so far not seen any favorable results. I have also read that Accutane does little for Acne Inversa. Is there truth to this?
2) I have read that Carbon Dioxide Laser Ablation may be just as effective as skin grafts, however, it was an emerging treatment.
And yes, they even say that there are lawsuits going on regarding use of Accutane and CD starting up. The warnings for Accutane are very similar to that of 2-butoxyethanol. They also comment on malabsorption, lipid & cholesterol issues, fever, and that autoimmune action on the red blood cells as autoimmune hemolytic anemia is very often present AND that it was more common in the 20s and 30s for those who cleaned a lot (the upper classes).
