I have been on coreg and accupril for going on 5 months now, and was hoping that my heart would have begun to reshape itself somewhat by now. My particular concern, among many, is the abnormal arrythmias which I believe this LV enlargement is causing. Shouldn't there be some improvement by now? Any insight would be appreciated.

I had been getting headaches off and on 2-3 days before everything, and put it off as being my sinuses due to being in the heat. I was put back on Accupril 10mg for the blood pressure, and a month later my bp was stable 120/80 or less, althought my heart rate stayed high usually around 120 even when resting.

I am an RN and my boyfriend has been type I diabetic for 28 years,having had better control for the las 5 years with an insulin pump. His BP is controlled, He's been on Accupril 40mg daily for approx 7 yrs. Hgb A1-c is 7.4. His kidney function test have been ok except for his latest BUN/CREAT ratio result of 29(the lab using 6-25 for norm). Should we be worrying, contacting a renal specialist and is there anything else other than tighter BS control and sodium intake that we can do?

Coreg 25 x2, and accupril (ace inhibitor). Latest echo shows no improvement of ejection fraction. Still 24 % after 8 months on meds. Anyone have any opinion as to chances of any improvement from meds at this point? LV has reduced moderately from 6.94. I believe my heart suffered damage from serious auto accident (BFT). I was hoping for signs of an improvement.

Dr that did heart cath wanted me to start Linsopril ace inhibitor but several years ago I tried accupril and had partial swellin on my face so I was afraid to try another ace inhibitor but now I wonder if I should have. The cardiologist I first saw put me on Atenolol, Isosorbide and nitroquick. I was using between 4 and up to 10 nitros a day with these other meds so he added Ranexa. I worry because I have family history of cancer and I have a fatty liver.

During the last 3-4 weeks of my pregnancy I was diagnosed preeclamptic/eclamptic. I delivered a week ago and 2 days after I had these horrible headaches with a burning sensation on my neck/back area. I just been diagnose with hypertension this month. I been going every week to measure my pressure and was first week 180/100 second week 182/103, the doctor decide to put me in medication bisoprolol/hctz 5/6.25 Then the third week with the medicine was 160/93, she decide to change the dosage to 10mg, at the four week the pressure when finally down to 138/86. she said i should keep taking the medication and they will see me again in June. Do you think this is right.

I was just wondering if I truly have hypertension? Or could it be White Coat Hypertension? Or could it be prehypertension as I have a family history?

It's possible that you have what they call "white coat hypertension" and its also possible to have real hypertension. Its disturbing that your dr just assumed you were a hypochondriac and gave you a powerful benzo to treat it. Drs dont normally put a patient on meds after just one high reading and so I wouldn't necessarily say he is wrong for not immediately putting you on blood pressure medication.

Hi can hypertension cause symptoms, i have dizzines etc..Nausea i have a cuff a home, am 43 and obese :(.. trying to loose weight, i feel light headed alot and vertigo..My Bp readings are 150 highest 100 or 90 or so. Generally feeling crap really. They say no symptoms silent killer etc...But i am not sure what else it can be.....It feels like now and again i get a few heart palps too. But it's the light headedness that sends me nutty........ I take my readings like 9 times a day obssesively.

t think it is directly causing hypertension, I found psychcentral says PTSD can make a person prone to hypertension. Your blood pressure ratings are through the roof, are you taking a medication for it? I too have been diagnosed with PTSD and have usually high blood pressure but mine is nowhere near that high and seems to fluctuate. Are you on medication for the PTSD as well?

yes i have uncontrolled hypertension and my bp's a generally between 150's to the 265's ranges and i have palpatation's in my neck it's vert forseful: it also makes heart feellike it's racing and pounding very hard. im dizzy light headed and i also have shortness of breath when i do anything. one of my cardiologist told me that my kidneys may be the reason for my blood pressure being so uncontrolled.

So, yes, you are correct that propanolol works better for anxiety due to the nonselective effect. In terms of your white coat hypertension, we do know that having white coat hypertension is not something to ignore and I actually recommend treating people even with white coat hypertension because getting blood pressures in the 150's at any time are not good.
