Avatar n tn What can be done to reverse plague that has build up for 30 something years? Other than exercise and diet, is there any kind of treatment, medication, "super-food" (the fad of the day it seems) that will do the trick? What does one do when exercise causes chest pain and sob?
391561 tn?1227047215 I have been on coreg and accupril for going on 5 months now, and was hoping that my heart would have begun to reshape itself somewhat by now. My particular concern, among many, is the abnormal arrythmias which I believe this LV enlargement is causing. Shouldn't there be some improvement by now? Any insight would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn s, and my bp was usually around 110/70 sometimes lower, well my family doctor a week later with the same blood results said my thryoid is fine, and actually lowered my lopressor, and took me off of the Accupril 10mg. The next day I was taken to the er with my heart rate being 163 the doctor there looked at my blood results and agreed that I had hyperthryoidism and needed to be on medicine for it, and put me back on 50 mg of lopressor twice a day.
255738 tn?1230233362 Subtracting diastole number from systole number is medically referred to as pulse pressure. Normal is 20 and a pulse pressure greater than 60 seems to indicate CAD. Pulse pressure: "The up and down fluctuation of the arterial pressure results from the pulsatile nature of the cardiac output, i.e. the heartbeat. The pulse pressure is determined by the interaction of the stroke volume of the heart, compliance (ability to expand) of the aorta, and the resistance to flow in the arterial tree.
Avatar n tn Then I just got a 2nd opinion and this dr said to quit Atenolol,Isosobide and Ranexa and start Azor and Bystolic and he wants me to have a Cardiolite stress test. I really do not see an improvement with Azor and Bystolic-I think I have just as much angina maybe more on these 2 drugs. My question is what will stress test show that the heart cath didn't show?
391561 tn?1227047215 Coreg 25 x2, and accupril (ace inhibitor). Latest echo shows no improvement of ejection fraction. Still 24 % after 8 months on meds. Anyone have any opinion as to chances of any improvement from meds at this point? LV has reduced moderately from 6.94. I believe my heart suffered damage from serious auto accident (BFT). I was hoping for signs of an improvement.
Avatar n tn Everyone including myself believed I had only months to live, but medication, healthy life style, exercise and diet has reduced heart size and EF to normal. I feel very well every day since leaving the hospital, and no longer think in terms of months, but now in terms of years of survival...but I followed and am following the recommmended regimen! If I hadn't, I'm sure my fate for survival was inevitable in a matter of months or a year or so...but who knows!

Avatar f tn I was started on Toprol @ 3 months ago and initially things were much better with episodes happening maybe every other week - only during exercise and always subsides once I slow down and heart rate slow down. Recently episodes have increased weekly and this past week 4 times and can happen when heart rate as low as 110's-120's. Even though they don't last long it is scary because of the chest/throat pain. Does this happen to anyone else with SVT.
Avatar f tn Hey Ducky, alright I do get dairy. I love eating avocadoes, cereal and milk so yeah. Guess i'll scale back abit on the fruits and up my protein and wait for like two weeks and update you again! THANK YOU!
Avatar f tn I've been swimming to exercise because walking hurts too bad. I love swimming and loved exercising hard before I got pregnant. I've been getting more in shape and the past two times I went swimming I felt like I wanted to push myself to get more out of my workout, I did push myself a little harder and started to get period-like cramps that lasted for a few hours after my workout.
8550901 tn?1400740690 when can I start exercising and dieting after Labour. I gave birth 2 weeks ago and would like to start taking diet pills and exercising. when can I start?

Avatar f tn Do I feel good on the off days because of the stretching and exercise or do I feel good because the stretching and exercise is taken out of the equation? I hope you are all well and having a "good" day. FU MS!
Avatar f tn I also have hypothyroidism, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, DDD, DJD, TMJ, IBS, and on and on. All of this but IBS and TMJ came after your symptoms and I also got a rash that lasted for almost a year at the same time, with multiple UTI's, and sinusitis. Right after this I started becoming allergic to several meds. too. PS. I never had any chest pains though.
198506 tn?1251156915 Thanks for letting me in on your personal experience with exercise and palpitations. Mine do seem to be a bit louder and more obnoxious when I get them during exercise as opposed to how they feel under different circumstances which does make them a little scary. I will take your suggestion and try the magnesium. I've been eating so much healthier now than I did when I first became acquainted with the palps and I have them less frequently but I have more triggers.
333672 tn?1273792789 I am naturally inclined to be a lazy bum :) and haven't really tried to exercise seriously for some time. I walk to work (about a half mile each way), but that's about it. So I thought I'd try to walk more. I went for a walk on Saturday (a little over a mile--not that much and at my pace probably not aerobic at all). By the end, my legs were all wobbly and didn't feel like a part of me anymore. I was sort of weaving and hoping that my legs would just hold out until I got home.
Avatar n tn Hi! I was diagnosed with a hyperthyroid in Feb./2008. In April of 2007 my doctor told me my thyroid levels were elevated a little but nothing to worry about. That summer my eyes became very sensitive to the light and I always had to wear sunglasses outside. Then from the month of July to November I continued to lose weight even though I was eating a lot. I had to wait until Feb. to see a doctor because I had no health insurance.
Avatar n tn I was on the verge of collapse and quickly drank a 12 oz soda and some orange juice. My sugar then shot up to 145 and although shakey I felt a lot better. 30 more minutes rolled around, I ate rice and chicken, and in the middle of my meal I began feeling lightheaded again...sugar had dropped back to 52, so I drank another soda.
Avatar m tn I need to lose 30 pounds and enjoy and have a strong desire to exercise but this makes it very difficult. I eat right, zero caffeine and two glasses of wine is a lot for me on the alcohol side. I have a prescription for valium for an ear problem that I have. The valium is the one thing that I can take that helps with the symptoms. If I get it bad, it can last up to two days but usually goes away the next day, typically in the afternoon the day after the symptoms begin.
Avatar n tn I am sleeping better and my tolerence to exercise is gettng better by the day. The more weight I lose the better I feel as well. Also, remember that a 300 pound man can be better conditioned than a 225 pound man so you have to be careful making a comparison. Your blood pressure measured at home is good, keep tracking it and make sure you do it at the same time every day.
