i posted before. i had an abscessed tooth and the abscess spread into my cheek. my dentist put me on keflex but after 10 days there was still noticable swelling in my cheek. so now the dentist has put me on a stronger antibiotic. when i woke up this morning i felt a very large "bubble" on my inside cheek.
I have had an abscess tooth for over a year. I haven't gotten the recommended root canal due to lack of funds. Twice in the past year, my cheek became very swollen, I went to the dentist and got a prescription, which eliminated the infection but never got a follow-up root canal. Since then I developed a small swollen mass on the inside of my gum which was there for about two months, but haven't had any pain in the tooth since then.
I had my tooth extracted 2 days ago and it was abscessed. The dentist put me on flagyl because I'm allergic to keflex clindamycin and penicillin. My gums surrounding he extraction site are still swollen and very sore. I think the abscess is still in there. The problem is the flagyl is givin me horrible panic attacks. Any idea as to what I should do?
DEC.31st; I find an abcessed tooth in front of a tooth that was crowned a few months ago. My abscess is bulged inside my jaw and I cannot chew on this side. I took 2-Aleve, brushed, flossed and gargled well with warm salt water after meals. JAN.1st; I visited Doctor's Care and they prescribed KEFLEX 500mg 1/12hrs and ULTRAM 50mg 1-2/4-6hrs. My jaw is sore on top and bottom on the right side, since the bulge has expanded along the jawline. JAN.
I don't recommend treating yourself without the supervision of a dentist.
May 15 I developed an abscess. They can't get me in to get the 2 teeth pulled until June 25th. The next day, my cheek was the size of a baseball and the meds weren't helping. I went to th ER. Dr numbed it, cut a slit in it, gave me dilaudid &zophran, &sent me home with vicodin. RELIEF! June 3 it was back. I went to the dentist June 5. He couldn't see me. They called in 825mg amoxicillin 2x a day &the weakest dose of vicodin.
I can't say if in my case, the two suspected heart attacks were related to the tooth abscess or not. Unfortunately, I can't take Amoxycillin or other antibiotics. Keflex was the only choice, but I was afraid of taking that too. The next time this happens, I will look at alternative treatments such as Ayurvedic medicine. I tried putting garlic on it. It helped and brought the infection down. I felt very ill with that infection, weak and seriously run down.
I have been having this issue where there is pain, feels first like pain in an upper left side back molar, tooth checked, tooth fine, pain can be very throbbing and a bit swollen, no fever, but chronic pressure and pain, dentist first put me on round of Keflex to get me through daughters wedding in mid Nov, after antibiotics pain came back, just finished another type of antibiotic and pain is not coming back full force yet but not gone and is still coming back, it's right where if you run your f
IS THIS AN ABSCESS TOOTH OR IS THIS FLUID FROM MY EAR. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY AFTER TWO ROUNDS OF ANITBOTICS IF THIS IS AN ABSCESS IT HASN'T WENT DOWN.
The four bottom teeth in front of that one have a red line running across the top, it looks like a vein. What is it? I do not have dental insurance but I have some Keflex last and have been taking it along with Motrin for the pain. It's extremely hard to chew or even swallow and I can't chew on that side at all. Thanks for your time!

Posted by mommydee on August 12, 1999 at 23:18:49 I started with tooth pain and went to a dentist and it was an infection in a tooth that had a root canal. I was on vacation 1000 miles from home so he put me on antibiotics (Keflex 4 times a day, 500 mg) for 10 days so I could get home. After being on antibiotics for a few days I got worse....
Mom has a tooth infection that spread to her bones and now is on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks at home we have to clean the injection site with a saline seringe then give the antibiotic drip for 1 hour and then flush again with saline then give Heprin all thought pic line that was sewn into her arm. This was my second day of training with a nurse who came to the house.
A penicillin like oxacillin, or a cephalosporin like Keflex (cephalexin) are first line. Again, these can be prescribed as creams or pills. Eye infections are a different story, and your primary doctor will likely refer you to an opthalmologist to ensure that you don't end up with permanent vision problems because of this infection. If you have a lesion like this that doesn't go away in 7-10 days or is causing you discomfort, you should see your primary care physician or nurse practitioner.
What a mistake that was. My husband never cared to ask what is the safest way of treating an abscess in the front leg. I would have asked the doctor to confirm what bacteria is he infected with, so the correct antibiotic, if needed, is given. So pissed!!! He was given the injection, then my husband was told to give Orbax; another type of antibiotic; I guess a double whammy. Why not just confirm infection with bloodwork and have the abscess lanced and drained? I would have paid the money.
I've had 2 root canals, one approximately 15 years ago, which has recently failed (it turns out they missed one canal and the tooth was infected and had to be re-treated) and the 2nd was done a year ago, which never felt right, I'm always in pain and I believe it is infected and failing, even though the x-rays show it is "normal.
I noticed greenish/brown mucus and tooth pain and went to doctor for an anti-biotic (I think Bactrim). I took the antibiotic which seemed to clear up what I thought was a sinus infection but I still wasn't feeling better and my glands were very swollen (they still are too a degree). The doctor prescribed Augmentin due to the remaining swollen glands and remaining flu like symptoms. On April 16th, I had tingling in my hands and feelings of pure exhaustion.
boils are often caused by infected hair folicals. Bacteria from infection form an abscess or pocket of pus. The abscess can become larger than a ping pong ball. Boils occur in areas where there is hair chafting. the face, neck, armpit, breast, groin, and buttocks are common sites.....then it goes on to treatment with cloth. doesn't mention any serious outcomes like surgery.
I thought tooth decay was the cause, so me and my best friend went to the clinic to pull those things out. But I was wrong to my conclusion cause the unpleasant odor still remains. we did jugging during our free time, it helps a little but the odor keeps coming back..I'm thinking I was the carrier of a kind of desease, cause i observed my bestfriend aquire bad breath every time, after we stay together for few hours. I know its in me.
