Common Questions and Answers about Abscess tooth emergency room

abscess

I have amoxicillin at home so I bagan taking that and rinsing with salt water per stuff i read on the web, but the swelling has not gone down and i can't get a hold of my dentist until monday. Should I go to the emergency room or would they tell me the same thing? I just don't know what to do at this point. Thanks.
If you have any doubts call your surgeon as soon as possible or get yourself to the emergency room. If you are experiencing abscessed teeth, seek assistance at an emergency room ASAP, who will treat you, as well as set up a follow-up appointment with a dentist (definitely someone other than whom you previously saw). abscessed teeth can lead to other infections throughout the body. This issue should not be taken lightly.
Or go to an emergency room or urgent care. In the mean time, ice water in your mouth can help. Rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide mixed with water. And take vitamin C. Drink lots of fluids, and ibuprofen is probably the best thing for the pain and swelling. If you don't have a problem with aspirin, you could try dissolving some baby aspirin on your tooth and the surrounding area. Or oil of cloves to help numb it. But I am not a doctor, so you really should find someone to call.

i am unsure, though, if this is something i need immediate medical attention for, such as that from my local emergency room.
when i had the MRSA, i had to go to the emergency room because my finger was swelling up like a balloon and hurt like it had a pulse. hah. they were really pushing the pain killers. but i declined and just asked for ice packs. which worked as good as the drugs would of. it was only a few days of pain. it is not a good idea to wake up those addictive bridges in our brain. it would be wise to flush all those pills after and just grin and bear it. you know it is going to go away soon.
I have an abscess in a broken tooth on the upper right side, 2nd tooth from the back. I feel a lump on the upper portion of the gum line, near where the jaw connects. My cheek is swollen and I have a bitter taste in my mouth. I am afraid that it has spread into my cheek cavity. How serious is this? What is the worst thing that can happen if I am unable to go to a dentist? I don't have any insurance. Should I go to the emergency room?
I have a concern about my tooth abcess. My abcess is on the upper right side . The "eye tooth" I went to the emergency room on Sunday, and was give an antbiotic through IV . I then filled the prescription the following morning. This is day 3 and the swelling is still getting bigger. I hve no pain now but at first. The pain was severe. How long will it take for the swelling to stop increasing ?
How large is the abscess? Is it visible from the outside (enlarged cheek etc.?) You can try going to er, but usually in such cases they may refer you back to the dentist. I would suggest calling your dentist and asking for an emergency appointment. Another thing you mentioned that a day of one antibiotic and a day on another. Were these antibiotics prescribed to you? I find it odd that you were only on either of the medications just one day.
I hope that everything went well. Sorry this message is late. If the swelling is worsening, I would recommend going to your surgeon as an emergency or call for a prescription of a different antibiotic to hold you over until your visit. Also, you could possibly go back to your dentist and have them do an incision and drainage in the area, in which they open the abscess up and drain the pus inside as well as allow some oxygen into the infected area to kill the bacteria.
and this is exactly how i began i started with cavaties didnt take care of them my teeth started decaying didnt do much either financially it was impossible then i got an abscess tooth and it took about a year to get it pulled and with alot of google (never google) i began this fear like yourself of dying of the infection spreading to my heart and or brain i have had every test done available and im still not convinced i am healthy i have started the process of my teeth getting fixed and im stil
The next day the pain spread to the entire right side of my mouth in both my top and bottom sets of teeth. The pain was so bad that I ended up going to the emergency room for painkillers and antibiotics because OTC medication wasn't helping. After I started taking the antibiotics, a large abscess formed, and I started coming down with a low fever. The parts of my face where my sinuses are are sore, and the glands in my neck are swollen.
my vital signs are not too good and i feel like i have the flu. i do not want to go to the emergency room and i can't go to the dentist because i am really afraid of blood. will this abscess go away by itself?? thanks guys.
will this cause the reaction, or is it just and abscess? and can i just pull it myself its only half the tooth anyway?? The swelling being so rapid is worrisome and it can progress rapidly and cause more problems. There may be an abscess tooth somewhere that needs to be treated.
It sounds like you may have an infection, it could be due to a wisdom tooth or a bad tooth. It may possibly be an abscess, you need to go to the emergency room you may need antibiotics. Left untreated you could have worse issues.
i owuld take some bendrly now and then wait a hour or 2 two and then if it comes back i would go to your local urgent care and then get checked out. good luck keep me updated please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
to make a long story short-I had to go too the emergency room because i started to get sharp pains in my head-the emergency room dr.believed I have Osteomylitis. emergency room dr,also advise me to see a neurology? can someone help me to understand what is going on with me?
I would say that it would be best to address the issue as soon as possible. It isn't an emergency room type of situation because he is right, as long as there's a fistula and its draining, it'll never fully abscess and become problematic but I would say that there's a risk involved with it plugging up and spreading elsewhere, causing significant damage to the bone and surrounding tissue.
My daughter had the same situation, I took her to the emergency room when they diagnosed her with the lumps she got discharded and the dr said to bring her back in case it got worst. Now she grew one more lump[ and hurst worst. What should I do where do I take her now?
In early July, I ended up in the emergency room due to a severe headache and my b.p. was 198/106! I have been on meds since. I recently had the tooth removed because the root was damaged and infected and am in the process of having an implant placed. Could my high b.p. have been caused by my tooth problems?
We took him to the emergency vet, and they kept him a few days and took blood samples and were able to open his jaw to see if he had a tooth abscess and they took xrays also. He was given antibiotics and steroids. They said they couldn't find any cause or problem, and was very frustrating for us because not only was that visit and procedures over $1,000 the swelling is now returning. The swelling did go down while he was on steroids. He is eating and running about normally.
If that one refuses to treat you then go to the emergency room. You should do this RIGHT AWAY. Please let me know how you are doing - and DO NOT WAIT A MINUTE LONGer. GO to THE HOSPITAL if you can't be seen by a dentist IMMEDIATELY. There MUST be an emergency dentist somewhere close by where you live. Do NOT wait, get this taken care of.
I still have a headache and low grade fever -this is going on a week. I am getting concerned and am almost ready for the emergency room. How would I know if there is an infection in my body? Both dentists told me it couldn't happen. Thanks again.
I had pain in a bottom tooth on the right hand side about a week ago but not a severe aching pain, it eventually went away. Yesterday I woke up & could feel minor swelling just under my neck which was painful to the point you can't touch it. This morning the entire right side of my cheek down into my jawline & neck is extremely swollen, about 3 times larger than normal & very very painful.
I tried this it did not work. I could not reach him for 4 days went to the emergency room they said I had a bruised ligament in my jaw keep taking the Aleve and put cold compact on it. The next day reached the dentist. Went to him and he filed down the tooth. But my jaw pain continued and it was difficult for me to open my mouth. The very next day I woke up and the front of my chin was numb and the front teeth on the right side where I had had the filling. Jaw pain was going into my ear.
