Avatar f tn She put me on Augmentin for 8 days for a sinus infection and said that she saw fluid behind my left eardrum. After the 8th day of pain, the augmentin did NOTHING and I went to the ER. The ER doctor was concerned about my family history and me being a smoker, and recommended a CAT scan and a spinal tap! I had both. I also insisted he do a full sinus scan. The CAT and Tap came back normal. My sinuses were a "little cloudy" on the left side.
Avatar m tn For the first 6 months or so, the tooth was tender and my maxillary sinus would hurt. I would have a very low grade fever that would come and go. Then, I started having this EXCRUTIATING pain in my jaw, in my right maxillary sinus, and down the right front side of throat. The pain would get very bad for 15 minutes, die out for 15 minutes, come back, die out, come back, die out..etc.
Avatar m tn In October 2013 I was in Hong Kong for a job interview and the gum above the tooth became sore and bruised. I went to a dentist there who said he wasn't sure if it was a sinus problem triggered by the long flight or something caused by the tooth. There was no sign of problem on the xray and the pain was quite high in the jaw with no swelling and no fever. He gave me antibiotics and asked me to get it checked out when I was back home. The pain disappeared quickly.
Avatar n tn I have had an abcess and infection at the tip of a front tooth root for four years. I knew that I had problems and this is what showed up on the x-ray. Two weeks ago I had a root canal treatment on this tooth. It was fine for about 10 days but now feels painful and just the same as it did prior to the treatment. Will it be possible for the dentist to re-do the root canal treatment, and if this does not work are there any other options to try and save the tooth?
Avatar n tn I have sinus lift 4 months ago and have what appears to be an abscess on the gum line where window was for graft entry to sinus. It is sore some days and others not so much, I also have sinus congestion that comes and goes. What do I do?.
Avatar n tn Hello, This persistent abscess that does not get cleared with antibiotics is called Parulis as this elevated nodule is actually an opening of fistulous tract from some chronic abscess either in association with tooth (periapical abscess) or gum abscess or could be sinus in your case. As I can not do physical exam hence can not say for sure about the origin of the abscess. It needs x-ray and second opinion of a dentist who can examine.
Avatar f tn No. I can tell that this isn't sinus pain. It's more like someone is "ringing out a nerve" in my temple. Like a nerve is being pulled at in there?! So strange. Im going back to Oral Surgeon tomorrow to make sure tooth abscess infection didn't return. AND, then to Neurologist in a few weeks...if i can last that long?!
Avatar f tn Saw my doctor on Wednesday and he said it sounded like anxiety. Dentist on Thursday, said I had a tooth infection. Freaked out, bc I know that this can spread to your brain. I've had a stye and a sinus infection, so now I'm convinced that it's spreading to my brain. My doctor said it's unlikely, so did the dentist. I'm taking an antibiotic and will be getting the infected tooth out next week. Possibly all 4... It's a top molar that's infected.
Avatar f tn Thank you for answering my question. I did go back to the dentist and they took x-rays and checked the tooth that was filled and it turns out it's fine - I don't even have an infection, Urgent Care was wrong (they never did x-rays). He said the tooth itself would be bothering me and it's not. He said he thinks it's a combination of sinus issues and some TMJ problems.
Avatar n tn t been already - as we all know from inadvertently getting water up your nose or inhaling something, that the sinuses do drain down our throat, so if you have a sinus infection or abscess, it could be draining into your throat causing the horrid taste. It's possible that if this is the case, you notice it when you yawn because just the act of yawning stretches the mouth and can put pressure on the sinus area, therein possibly causing it to drain. Are you running any fever? any chills?
Avatar f tn An abscessed tooth is a painful infection at the root of a tooth or between the gum and a tooth. It's most commonly caused by severe tooth decay. Other causes of tooth abscess are trauma to the tooth, such as when it is broken or chipped, and gingivitis or gum disease. These problems can cause openings in the tooth enamel, which allows bacteria to infect the center of the tooth (called the pulp). The infection may also spread from the root of the tooth to the bones supporting the tooth.
Avatar n tn Dear Rose2004 Was the swelling due to the untreated tooth or was it after the root canal? If it was after the root canal and it is still recurring may there is an accessory canal that was missed or the infection could be stemming from another tooth. Has a fracture of the root itself been ruled out? I would recommend you have another evaluation by the endontist.
Avatar n tn Ther are too many things that could be causing your signs & symptoms to 'self diagnose'. Sinus or other infection, temporomandibular joint disorder, tooth or gum abscess....I encourage you to see a Dr as soon as you can. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Avatar n tn He said his x-rays showed an infection and it was forming an abscess and would soon be attacking the roots of the teeth. Good thing I went in. He said I should make an apt with the dentist in about 3 to 4 weeks to get crown properly sealed. He said the tooth needs about a month to see how it survives the procedure and be sure the root canal has worked and eliminates symptoms. I'm grateful for this website because it motivated me to get treatment, otherwise, I might still be suffering.
Avatar n tn t chew on right side because of tooth pain. Whats more, I saw a dentist and I do not have an abscessed tooth per bite wing xrays!
Avatar m tn I arrive at the office, get an x-ray, dentist looks at my tooth and says I have an abscess and it seemed to have been there for quite some time already. She proceeds do drain it, sends me home on antibiotics and ibuprofen, and tells me to come back on Friday to extract the tooth. My headache only got worse, and I felt pain from behind my nose and eye all the way back to the neck, all on the left side. It "stings" when I inhale deeply, so I imagined it's the sinus cavities.
Avatar f tn Thank you. The symptoms seem to be the same... Just more symptoms keep popping up. I am calling the dentist in the morning, also calling my doc. Today has been another day full of tears, so now I have been thinking that I'm having personality changes... I don't know what to do. If the dentist pulls my teeth, and the infection has already spread, is this something that could be fatal??? Also, is an MRI the only way to know that it's spread???
Avatar n tn Hi, I hope someone can give me some advice. About a week ago I started getting a toothache in my 2nd molar, upper right side. This particular tooth has had some problems (bad cavity, which was filled). Anyway, I went to the dentist and he said there was another cavity and he would fill it in a couple of weeks but there was a possibility it wouldn't work and the tooth would have to be extracted or i would need RCT.
Avatar n tn Hence it could be Trigeminal neuralgia, abscess in tooth, exposed root canal, internal ear infection, maxillary sinusitis, TMJ, migraine, herpes (recurrent) without rash or fibromyalgia localized to face. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn m a 21 year old college senior, and for about a week I have had pain in my right ear, the right side of my throat and jaw. I thought at first that it was a sinus infection, but after a several day regime of mucinex and advil, I was still in quite a lot of pain. I went to the clinic on campus, and the nurse said it was probably an ear infection. I've been on an antibiotic and decongestant for three days, and the pain has gotten worse.
Avatar f tn I never had gum books or gum infection. Facial pain is mostly left side. Sinus dr thought teeth and vice versa. So one day I hope to recover from all of this and I feel doomed right now. Lots of meds too so I feel doomed with that as well. I did so good for so long and then this just wrecked me.
Avatar f tn I've had the same exact problem. I seen my regular dentist and he sent me to an oral surgeon because he knew that once the tooth was pulled that there would be a hole in the sinus so thinking that the oral surgeon would have closed me up the oral surgeon decided that he wasn't going to close me up and he wasn't going to treat any infections afterwards and not give me a referral so I've been stuck.
Avatar f tn I gave a RCT treatment to my patient who has chronic periapical abscess at lower right 6 but no sinus and swelling was present in her mouth. But I saw that abscess in intra-oral periapical view. While I was treating her tooth, everything was alright. And then,2days after treating RCT, she suffered a slight pain and swelling at submandibular region.I forgot something to explain that I saw a root fracture line in X-ray but that tooth was not mobile.
