He is treating me for a tooth abscess, and started me on Antibiotics and pain meds. I'm just wondering - the puss pockets seems to be about the same size, and is mostly uncomfortable. How long until I can expect it to start "healing"? I know the infection will not totally subside until I have the tooth removed, but I'm just wondering how long before the swelling might subside. Also, what would happen if the abscess were to burst?
Hi, I had crown done following the root canal treatment on 14th tooth 3 years ago due to a regular recurring abscess. After the root canal treatment and crown, i used to get abscess at exactly the same location every now and then but that time with no pain. A month ago the abscess recurred again after a long while, so i went to a dentist (a different this time since i have moved places). He suggested that the previous root canal was not done properly and that the crown had to be removed.
Hello, It is strange that even after surgical removal the abscess has came back. It means that it can be a cyst and the entire contents of the cyst have not been taken out. Consult your dermatologist and discuss this with him. Recurrent boils/abscess are found in diabetes, HIV infection, or other immune system disorders. So please get your blood sugar evaluated Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
I also wanted to add that I don't see any pus sack on my gums or cheek but there is some white stuff that looks like it could be an abscess inbetween my tooth and gums. The dentist hasn't seen me since my cheek swelled up and won't beable to until the 10th. thanks, again.

I have an abscess under my breast. It has grown in the same spot about 3 or 4 times before. I went to the doctor and she referred me to get an ultrasound to see how far down it went. They determined that it did not go into my breast tissue. The last time i got it the doctor put me on antibiotics which i felt did nothing since it always heals by itself. Anyway, it is growing back again more painful and bigger then before and i just don't know what to do about it anymore.

I currently have been dealng with a recurrent subareolar breast abscess. I was first treated with ten days of keflex two times a day, in which it got better but then came back. The abscess still would not heal so I had surgery a few days ago in which the surgeon removed the abscess and I thnk some of the infected ducts.
After gall bladder surgery if you are having pain then liver studies should be done. The pain could be due to an abscess. A CT scan should be done. It can also be due to acidity and duodenal ulcer. Take a late night snack. Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. Walking around also helps clear gas. It could also be muscle pull that can be treated by applying local analgesic creams.
It sounds like it'll eventually abscess and cause some significant pain and swelling. It would be good to remove it before it becomes a problem. It helps when the infection is more mild in terms of complication with surgery and recovery time. Also, you get to choose when to remove them rather than wait for pain and then get them removed. It may be at a bad time such as a vacation.

If there's a real possibility that it would help, I would definitely do it. But I just haven't been able to find much information on tonsil removal in connection with sinus infections. So I'd be grateful for any thoughts you might have on this. I'm particularly interested in whether this is a generally accepted treatment for recurring sinus infections, and whether (statistically or just in your experience) it is effective. Thank you.
Well, by that afternoon - I could see this was about to be an abscess. It began to drain blood and awful discharge. I got right into the doctor and he looked at it and said that I had a hematoma and the nurse gave me bad information and I drew the infection into the area. He cleaned it and told me to continue cleaning it with a syringe and antiseptic. He also taped the exterior of my jaw to prevent the area from becoming saturated again. I wore that tape for 3 days and returned.

I don't think that the 7cm hemangioma was in any way affected by surgery but surgery did not resolve all of my URQ pain issues.
