abscess pain

I am 18 years old and have been having moderate to severe pain in my abdominal area. It started 3 days ago really low and got so severe I could not stand. It started in an ice hockey game and got progressively worse. The pain has now spread all on the left side reaching up to my ribcage. Sometimes it's a severe stabbing pain or throbbing. I had blood work done and an abdominal ultrasound which all came back normal.

I don't no wot causes it but my I'm in pain. I was told to get bicarbonate soda mix into a paste spread it on covering the abscess an it will draw it. did tht it's still thr. so much pain this is my 2nd one I've had since being pregnant but I've had 2 at one time. hurts like he'll get shooting pains threw it too jesus I could scream with it ladies kills too touch it.

Hi i started with really bad tooth pain and went to the emergency dentist who said its infected and got an abscess. They give me amoxicillin 500mg i started them yesterday teatime then last night my face started to swell up on the right side where the bad tooth is never had this before. Now i look like an hamster what i want to know is how long will it take for the tablets to work i have taken 4 so far. Also most of the pain as gone but still really soar.

I had a cracked tooth,I waited and put off something being done about it,and it became abscess,a pocket formed underneath it and also my jaw swelled up an I believe became infected, I went to the doctor, they numbed and drained the pocket,and gave me 2 antibiotics and a pain med, I'm no longer in pain (the cracked tooth is a little loose) but its been going on 3 days of antis and no change has occurred, is that normal? should I go back to the doctor?

Last night I began to feel pain under my left armpit. I examined the area and don't feel any lumps below the skin but I don't see any obvious ingrown hairs or irritations either. How would I know whether this is a swollen lymph node or something more superficial? Thanks so much in advance.

I know it may sound really strange but I am in so much pain from recurrent abscesses. The abscesses are usually on my leg or in my arm pit and under my breast. I had one in my rectum area too. I had been to the doctors so many times and put on dicloxicillin which seemed to help at the time, yet they still kept on recurring. i don't know what to do.......

The pain of this intensity coming spasmodically could be due to gall stones, infection in gall bladder, liver abscess or an abscess under the diaphragm. I just had a tooth pulled 5 days ago and i cant be on pain meds becuz i am pregnant. But my dentist pulled my tooth while I had an absist next to it. Was that right? Yesterday i went back to the emergency room and the abscess was lanced but nothing came again but blood. It is so hard and large the doctor said it was urated i dont know the exact word but it needs to be surgically removed. So has anyone had abscess in the below the vagina are surgically removed? I woke up at 4 am this morning with a pain in the scar tissue from where the abscess was removed before. Is it possible to have an abscess come back again after three years? The abscess that I had before was fairly large and deep. I was told that if I had waited much longer, I may have died.

In all probability after the abscess there has been a lot of scarring and adhesions which is causing kinking of the intestines and pain. These cannot be diagnosed by any tests or imaging. Thanks for the info. Do I risk horrible health consequences if an abscess develops during those six weeks? Most recent x-ray taken today didn't show signs of an abscess - how fast does such an abscess usually take to develop?

If you have an active marble sized abscess at your ankle from missing a vein with an unsterile solution you will want to see a real doctor...............this is not the time to self medicate...........

Hello, This persistent abscess that does not get cleared with antibiotics is called Parulis as this elevated nodule is actually an opening of fistulous tract from some chronic abscess either in association with tooth (periapical abscess) or gum abscess or could be sinus in your case. As I can not do physical exam hence can not say for sure about the origin of the abscess. It needs x-ray and second opinion of a dentist who can examine.
