Avatar f tn I am 18 years old and have been having moderate to severe pain in my abdominal area. It started 3 days ago really low and got so severe I could not stand. It started in an ice hockey game and got progressively worse. The pain has now spread all on the left side reaching up to my ribcage. Sometimes it's a severe stabbing pain or throbbing. I had blood work done and an abdominal ultrasound which all came back normal.

Avatar m tn I'm a 21 year old college senior, and for about a week I have had pain in my right ear, the right side of my throat and jaw. I thought at first that it was a sinus infection, but after a several day regime of mucinex and advil, I was still in quite a lot of pain. I went to the clinic on campus, and the nurse said it was probably an ear infection. I've been on an antibiotic and decongestant for three days, and the pain has gotten worse.

Avatar n tn Hi there, A dental examination is very important for determining the exact cause of your symptoms. It is possible that acute abscess has been developing. It is best to get an appropriate evaluation and treatment done. If there was a root canal done in the above tooth? In few cases root canals can fail due to branching and convolutions of the tooth roots. See your dentist at the earliest. Treatment will be specific based on the cause. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn Last night I began to feel pain under my left armpit. I examined the area and don't feel any lumps below the skin but I don't see any obvious ingrown hairs or irritations either. How would I know whether this is a swollen lymph node or something more superficial? Thanks so much in advance.
Avatar m tn I know it may sound really strange but I am in so much pain from recurrent abscesses. The abscesses are usually on my leg or in my arm pit and under my breast. I had one in my rectum area too. I had been to the doctors so many times and put on dicloxicillin which seemed to help at the time, yet they still kept on recurring. i don't know what to do.......
Avatar n tn The pain of this intensity coming spasmodically could be due to gall stones, infection in gall bladder, liver abscess or an abscess under the diaphragm. A CT scan of the upper abdomen should be done immediately. The other possibility is intestinal spam due to celiac disease or Crohn’s disease or due to IBS. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn I have fairly white healthy teeth, but I have an abscess behind my tooth, how can I get rid of it, or sooth the pain.
Avatar f tn Where is the abscess? If it was a Bartholin's gland cyst, yes, it's possible. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32321682/ "64 patients had a diagnosis of Bartholin cyst or abscess, 40 of whom were also tested for Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Chlamydia trachomatis. Ten percent of patients with a Bartholin cyst/abscess were infected with N gonorrhoeae, compared with 3% of those without a Bartholin cyst/abscess (P = .008).
Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
Avatar f tn Right upper abdominal pain can be due to cholecystitis (inflammation of gall bladder), stones in gall bladder, duodenal ulcer, abscess under the diaphragm, liver problems and abscess or due to duodenal ulcer. Right flank pain is generally due to kidney stones. Gall bladder problems have been ruled out in your case. Abscess should be seriously considered. Lower right abdomen pain is commonly due to appendicitis. The pain, can at times come and go and not give the classic picture.
Avatar f tn Last night I noticed a lump behind my ear. I've had swollen lymph nodes numerous times so I knew it wasn't that. It felt like a bubble, was tender and felt warm. Around the same time, every time I stood up or bent down, I had an excruciating pain in the left front side of my head and at times the left top side of my nose simultaneously. Sometimes the shooting pain in my head alone happens when I am just sitting still.
Avatar m tn On the third day, the pain went away but I developed an abscess on the roof of my mouth behind the lateral incisor. That same day, I went to the ER and had it drained and was put on Amoxil. Now, 1 day later, the abscess seems to have grown in size. Should I get it re-drained? Do I need a root canal?
1881960 tn?1320699966 My doctor gave me penicillin and something for pain but its day 3 and nothing has changed. I can feel the abscess in my mouth for the first time today. It's not getting smaller, only larger! I am 29 and on coumadin and lovenox so no dentist will see me. I've called dozens of dentists to no avail. I am trying not to become frustrated but each passing day I'm stuck in bed isn't helping. Any suggestions ?
Avatar n tn I just had a tooth pulled 5 days ago and i cant be on pain meds becuz i am pregnant. But my dentist pulled my tooth while I had an absist next to it. Was that right? The pain is still the same as if I didnt get the tooth pulled. But I am really concerned because I dont know what the socket is supposed to look like if it is healing properly. I have had a white spot in the socket for a couple of day.
Avatar n tn Although the antibiotics may kill the bacteria that is causing the abscess, if the core of the abscess does not come to the surface or is not removed by the doctor or the nurse, the abscess will continue to fester. Apply a hot compress to draw the abscess to the surface. If there is no broken skin on the abscess, you can purchase magnesium sulphate from the pharmacy and apply this to the abscess. This is a drawing ointment and can only be used on unbroken skin.
6388161 tn?1380846457 Yesterday i went back to the emergency room and the abscess was lanced but nothing came again but blood. It is so hard and large the doctor said it was urated i dont know the exact word but it needs to be surgically removed. So has anyone had abscess in the below the vagina are surgically removed? If so did you have to stay overnight in the hospital? Was their a lot of pain afterward?
1394098 tn?1385960134 I woke up at 4 am this morning with a pain in the scar tissue from where the abscess was removed before. Is it possible to have an abscess come back again after three years? The abscess that I had before was fairly large and deep. I was told that if I had waited much longer, I may have died.
Avatar f tn In all probability after the abscess there has been a lot of scarring and adhesions which is causing kinking of the intestines and pain. These cannot be diagnosed by any tests or imaging. Only diagnosis is by laproscopy and treatment is cutting the adhesions. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Thanks for the info. Do I risk horrible health consequences if an abscess develops during those six weeks? Most recent x-ray taken today didn't show signs of an abscess - how fast does such an abscess usually take to develop?
702286 tn?1239011660 If you have an active marble sized abscess at your ankle from missing a vein with an unsterile solution you will want to see a real doctor...............this is not the time to self medicate...........
Avatar n tn Hello, This persistent abscess that does not get cleared with antibiotics is called Parulis as this elevated nodule is actually an opening of fistulous tract from some chronic abscess either in association with tooth (periapical abscess) or gum abscess or could be sinus in your case. As I can not do physical exam hence can not say for sure about the origin of the abscess. It needs x-ray and second opinion of a dentist who can examine.
