abscess

Avatar n tn It could also be a foreign object. I had a piercing right above the my navel. I took the piercing out 2 years ago & the area where the piercing was is unaffected & still has normal color. I was also told that it could be parasites because of the itching & abnormal shape. I have an appointment with a dermatologist Dec 1st & hopefully she can shed some light on my condition.
Avatar f tn Got a navel piercing done at someone's house. I wasn't thinking. Then someone told me that you could get hiv from this. Body piercing needles are hollow. I started to panic anf took an oraquick test 6 weeks later after I got the piercing and another one at ten weeks and both came out negative are these accurate? Do I have to take another test at 12 weeks?
Avatar f tn An HSV infection site on the genitals that popped up on the navel, or infected saliva at some point entering the piercing site and causing symptoms? When you say that it could have been a genital infection recurring at the navel, are you thinking that it wouldn't have been a primary infection? Thanks for reading..

Avatar f tn I have had my navel pierced for 10 years now. I am between 4 and 5 weeks pregnant. I am trying to figure out when to take out my piercing. I am wondering if anyone has taken theirs out early in pregnancy and had complications such as infection caused by stretching from the open hole. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am not particularly attached to the idea of the piercing, I just want to do what is healthiest.
Avatar f tn I had mine for about 4 or 5 years , I didn't like the way the pregnant belly rings look so I took mine out as the begging of my pregnancy when my navel started popping out .
Avatar f tn The first two times it began with slight pain in and above my navel and progressed to what appeared to be an infection. The area above my navel became red and hot and there was a large amount of greenish discharge from my navel. Both times I went to the doctor. Both times they had no idea what it was (other than the obvious infection), nor what caused it. I was put on antibiotics both times and it didn't seem to help.
Avatar m tn I have a skin abscess above my navel for past 5 days, it has not been drained and I had been taking clindamycin 300 two times a day. I did not go to a doctor as I had been travelling and now the abscess has turned into a painless lump of approx. 1.5 cm diameter. I feel the lump under my skin and I am not sure if the infection still remains or not. My question is that whether the infection is gone or is still remaining (dormant)?.
Avatar f tn I left mine in with my first eventually had to take it out cuz it stretched so bad and got tight right on the piercing it started to get caught on shirts. I've never put it back in left an X shaped stretch mark on the top of my navel now it just looks silly lol.
Avatar m tn I called my surgeon's office on Friday. They called back today (obviously they felt this no great cause for concern) but I told them that the pain in fact had subsided considerably. They advised me to just continue to monitor the situation and if the paid returns or worsens to come in and let my surgeon look me over. Thanks for the kind advice.

Avatar f tn Though I have not experienced the piercing pain ever after thatstill I have some persisting pain in the lower part of the abdomen radiating to the back and legs. The pain is very prominet at the mid back, lower abdomen above the navel on the right side and below the navel and the left side and on both thighs upto calves of the legs. I also feel a pushing pain the the groin while passing urine or motion (bearable pain).
Avatar f tn I had to take my navel piercing out because my belly button itches and irritates me that much lol, and my belly button hasn't even popped yet! It's just stretched.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Just like with any type of body piercing, there are potential risks when getting a belly ring. A navel ring piercing can lead to infection if not properly cared for and potentially serious blood poisoning. It may also cause some scarring and potential nerve damage. Failing to properly sterilize the piercing equipment used, failing to clean and sterilize the wound , and failing to use proper piercing techniques are all causes of increased risk factors when getting your belly piercing.
Avatar n tn This is my first belly button piercing and I am a little concern. I do not know if it is effective. I had it done about two months ago, i am having a slimy drainage and crust around the ball on the loop of the ring. It dose not bother me i.e. itch or irritates unless its close to the time for me to clean it. I clean it twice a day with dove soap and use AD ointment afterwords.
Avatar f tn It grew from my old navel piercing. I also liked to put oil on right after the shower, but my husband said it reminded him of his mom!
Avatar f tn it healed well but only after I had a problem with a failed navel piercing that turned out to be an allergic reaction to surgical stainless steel b/c I'm allergic to nickel & even surgical stainless steel (autoclaved as directed despite it being sealed & new) caused a knot to form that needed draining. Since then, I've only had high-end nickel-free gold for my piercings, including earrings in my earlobes. If it is a piercing or even if it's not - SEE YOUR DOCTOR!
Avatar f tn I am experiencing pain on my left side near the abdoman area from front to back. The skin there is tender to the touch. My stomach seems to be swollen. Should I be concerned?
