Ok I've had this abscess on my gums for 2 years and was unable to treat it cause I didn't have insurance, but now I do and it's getting treated but this is the problem, I ate a m@m and right after I ate it I drained the abscess like I always do but when I did it another lump showed up on my outside gums causing me lots of pain for hours.
I've been having excruciating pain in my right jaw, teeth and gums that radiates to the middle of my chin. I started taking CIPRO because thats all I have on hand. I tried rinsing with warm salt water but the pain became more severe on contact. Can applying a heating pad to my cheek cause more damage? I've heard controversy about the type of treatment.

I also wanted to add that I don't see any pus sack on my gums or cheek but there is some white stuff that looks like it could be an abscess inbetween my tooth and gums. The dentist hasn't seen me since my cheek swelled up and won't beable to until the 10th. thanks, again.
I have an abscess; upper right; the tooth broke off only some left close to the gums. My cheek is swollen near right side of nose and mouth and up under my right eye; very bad pain. Dentist put me on penicillin. My question is can they pull the tooth out while I am swollen? and how bad will it feel when they pull it? Yesterday I noticed a redish purple spot on my upper gums. It is not painful, just kind of ugly. I don't remember hurting it in any way. I brush and floss regualrly, and have also been to the dentist in the past few months. Is this something to be worried about? Or just wait for it to go away? I'm away at school, so my dentist is about an hour and a half away.
I Had to have two teeth pullled due to an abscess on my gum. I thought that you could not pull teeth while you had and infection in your mouth. Is this true or not. Also if you have teeth pulled does this clear up the infection. Even though you have to take medication for a week to ten days.
I am worried I have a dental infection spreading from neglected dental work, that was complicated by a mis-diagnosis. Sorry for dragging this on, and on. Does a tooth abscess ever not show up on a X-ray? Possibly draining out before X-ray is taken? draining into roof of mouth or sinus?
I've noticed two very hard bone-like painless masses on my lower gum (one inside one out) in random locations. They may have been there a long time I don't know. Does anyone have any explanation for what these things might be?
but to think the majority of an entire people died from a bad tooth. well on to my actual questions. xrays of the mummies that revealed evidence of these abscesses has left me with some questions about this. generally we conclude there was an abscess when there are holes found in the jawbone. so i was wanting to ask if you could give a brief description on the mechanics of an abscess. specifically, 1)how does the abscess manage to make these holes in the jawbone itself?
Continued to have severe pressure sensitivity on 19 and some on 18. Dentist insisted on placing perm crowns - different crown materials (about six weeks ago.) Afterwards, pressure sensitivity improved but gum swelled on the linqual side. Dentist treated with Cavitron and said tooth would need to be extracted if swelling continued. Four days ago, had tooth 14 prepped for crown. All okay first day, then cheek and jaw started swelling and have not improved. No pain in tooth 14.
a few days ago, i noticed a dull and achy pain on my gums, just between the lower front incisors. There is no redness, or bleeding. At first I thought it might be something stuck in between my teeth. I continually attempted to loosen it with my tongue. Upon closer observation in front of a mirror, I noticed a small bulge, normal in color between my teeth. If you don't look closely, it's unnoticeable, but as I stare at it, I can definitely see it. It's beginning to become more painful.
Hi, I have had a hard lump for a month now on my lower gums, behind the left bicuspid tooth. When I pressed it about 48 hours after it first formed, it drained pus which I could see. It also tasted salty and pus-like for 12 hours, and then it stopped tasting salty as it stopped releasing pus. It also appears to change size slightly, decreasing in size and then increasing again. It is very hard, but slightly movable.

I have been getting a weird bump on my gums now for the past few years. The will pop up every 1 to 2 months and is always in the exact same spot (above my left eye tooth). It starts off pretty small but within around an hour it reaches full size (usually about the size of a jelly bean). When it gets as big as its going to get, it is usually pretty hard and hurts very badly if I touch it at all. After a while it gets softer and eventually I can mash it and bust it.

Hi there, I will advise you to see a dentist and get evaluated. Any infection, injury, sensitivity can cause swollen gums. Since you're experiencing gum problems I will advise you taking lukewarm or cool foods and beverages. Seek medical help before the swelling increases and leads to an abscess. This is only speculation based on your symptoms. A physical examination is necessary for appropriate diagnosis and management. I hope it helps. Take care and regards!
I had a one molar taken out before so I can have room for my braces and another for the abscess so you are saying that this should be my last molar and my wisdom tooth should be growing there? What explains the cracked white looking patch towards the back of my mouth?

I have an area of my gums, upper left side, right beside a crown, where it swelled up. It's been swelled up for about two weeks now. There's no pain in or around the crown or the swollen gums, little discomfort, just a little swollen area about the size of a small pea, that's covering about half of the tooth with the crown. As far as I know it wasn't brought on by eating hot food.

For a few weeks now, my 13 year old daughter has had this somewhat small, swollen lump on her upper gums above two of her back molars. It is slightly soft and it has not been causing her any pain. The swelling of the lump went down for a few days but is now swollen again after she irritated it by brushing her teeth. Today I went to check on it and noticed that the lump had developed two small, raised white bumps.
Yesterday I found a discolored area on my gums above my front right tooth. Today the sore has progressed to my pallet and is sore and feels blister it is also bleeding. Could this be a sinus abscess?
