Abscess on knee

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess on knee

abscess

I also might add that this was the most painful experience I have ever had. Now, six months later, I have numbness on my right leg from the knee down and when I sit for prolonged periods of time and go to get up, the tops of my feet feel like someone is stabbing them with a knife and it takes me a few minutes to be able to walk. I just recently had another MRI which showed no abscess present but a mild broad based disc bulge at L3-4 and L4-5. Could this be related to the abscess?
(3) You may use acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) to control the pain - keep the wound as dry as possible once drained, just wash the area around it - healing of the wound will take about one to two weeks depending on the size of the abscess (but don't worry, they write you a doctor's note for work) - get the lump checked out as soon as it starts forming to avoid cellulitis and going to the hospital (you might still have to have it drained but at least you can go to a cheap
I have a small lump on my knee about the size of three pimples together and its been there for about a week now and i cant pop it, i was just wondering if it could be dangerous in any way?
it was growing on day by day..after going on for diagnosis , i came to know that i am suffering from cold abscess..i was being operated & about 750 ml of pus was drained away from my lower back side..i am under complete medications but before i came to know about this lump i was also suffereing from sever allergy...after proper test i came to know about the reason of this allergy,,the main problem for the increasing allergy was MILK & MILK PRODUCT..
Finally after going to a doctor on my own, a year later, and not telling them about the previous surgery I was told I had a tear in the meniscus. When I took the information and MRI to the original doctor he said it is a neuroma. Original dr./surgeon performed the neuroma removal at the end of July. Was great for a couple of weeks after the surgery then pain suddenly returned. What started as a small lump under the incision has now grown into a very large and extremely painful lump.
Over a month ago, an abscess formed on the back of my thigh (midway between bottom of buttock and top of knee). I was on vacation and delayed medical care. Finally it became huge and I went to ER where it was lanced and packed and I was given Bactrim and Cipro for 5 days. I used compresses on it. The culture came back (days later) as strep. After another 10 days, it reddened again and seemed a bit bumpy. I was put on 10 days of Clindmycin. Just completed that course.
A few weeks ago,I found a pimple(or so I thought)on my leg under my knee but when I tried to pop it,it wouldn't pop.I kept trying and soon it went away but 3 days ago,it came back as a huge,quarter-sized painful boil. Then two more zit-things popped up and (as much as I told myself not to) I popped those too...the boil really hurts and I'm scared a spider may have laid eggs in my leg.I tried cleaning it with an alcohol swab and putting neo sporn with pain relief in it but it didn't work.
the pain has gone away a week later but its still there, when i try to lean and kneel on that leg there is pain right at the point so i trying to take it easy (i pull heavy pallets around my work alot) now my knee is popping when i swing it and the joints on the side of the knee hurt so i'm not sure what is going on and the bump is still right below the knee. there is no heat coming from those spots and no redness it not tender to the touch.

I've also been experiencing daily tremors and twitches. Within the last week, I've been experiencing pain behind my knee and last night I felt a bulge. It is not an abscess, but more of a swell. I didn't do anything physically that would have casued and injury and while slightly overweight I'm not obese. The pain increases when sitting or standing too long. I don't have any visible varicose veins and have no history of that.
I had both my knees replaced in 1999 & 2001. On my left knee just below the the prostisis is a lump. I am wondering if it is the bone or if it could be the prostetic. I have a lot of pain in both my knees. Also I had them replaced in Washington state. I now live in Missouri but can't find a doctor that will even look at them. they tell me I have to go back to the dr that replaced them. How do I find a dr. to help me out?

Hello! I'm an almost 57yo active male and just recently a small (silver dollar size) lump or protrusion, bony in appearance, has developed along the outside of my right leg located approximately 1" to 1-1/2" below the midline of my kneecap. In addition, I began to experience some "popping or clicking" sounds in this knee starting in my early 30's which have come and gone over the years without any noticeable pain or swelling.
I had something like this only it was on my knee the dr. said it was a ganglion cyst or bakers cyst. may not be what it is but look it up there are home remedies you could try. the dr. will just want to cut it out but that doesnt always keep it from coming back.
I have a small, red, pimple-sized bump on my leg, about 6 inches above my knee. It has been there a few days and it has not changed in size at all. It is not warm to the touch, but it is red around it. At first, it looked like there was a white head on it, but now it does not. There is no drainage or pus coming from it. It is very painful. I have poured peroxide on it and put a bandaid with neosporin on it with no change. This is the only bump like this on my body, and I've never had one before.
A couple of days I had severe itching on the left lip of my vagina. Now there is something like a pimple but larger. The left lip is hard and has swelled to twice the size of the right. I have tried hot washcloth and also ice. I have gotten some pus to drain out but is still hard and VERY painful. I can haredly walk. I don't have insurance and just had a minor surgery (May 7) to remove a kidney stone. I had a stent in but it has been removed. The area is also very red.
I was a bit confused as to where to put this, but I believe I have finally found the right place. Alright, I came to this site looking for help, on a particular problem I seem to be having in my inner thigh area (specifically on my right inner thigh, about half way between my groin and my knee).
as he never took anything seriously and would always laugh at me when I went to him about a problem and started ignoring anything that was going on (which I know is not good...but when your own doctor doesn't take you seriously and you are from a small town in the middle of nowhere with nobody else to turn too, there wasn't much more I could do, especially with being so young at that time) He would just sit back, laugh and just say it was all in my head....he did it to my mother too!
Anyone out there take ultram/tramadol? This drug has turned me into a tramadol prisoner. I am having a hard time stopping and I know I need to . I have taken this for a long time. First, I was prescribed this med and then I found other ways to get it. Knowbody knows I take it as much as I do. Anyone....have some advice?
It can be due to an infection in spleen or overactive or enlarged spleen, hiatal hernia where stomach herniates into the chest cavity, abscess in spleen, acidity, reflux esophagitis, pleurisy (inflammation of the walls of the lungs) or even due to muscle pull. Left lower lobe pmeumonia and ischemia (low oxygen supply) to mesyentry of intestines and pancreatitis too can at times present with a pain in left side under the rib. This needs a more detailed investigation.
OMG I AM HAVING THIS ON MY NECK AND BEARD AREA ....
Wow your symptoms sound exactly like mine, i had to do a double take to make sure that it wasnt my post. I have a lump on the bottom rib on the left side under my breast. I had it checked out at docs and it feels like bone matter and doesnt move at all it is firmly stuck. I only noticed it since i had my first child. It seems like it could be scar tissue from when i cracked the rib years ago when i had a really bad cough (believe it or not!!).
He was given Rocephin IV today and finally got cultures done on the abscess on his leg. I would have thought the cultures would have been the first thing they do for treatment, but I guess not. They're basically doing them because he is not responding to any antibiotics he's taking, pill nor IV...which is scary. This thing on his leg pretty much has a mind of its own. The core itself is purple, has 4 heads, and about the size of a golfball.
and have seen many different locations for an abscess on the body and i have to say that the groin area is the most painful and most re-occuring location. I have assisted both Dr.s and P.A.s in lancing(making a small cut into the head of the abscess to release the pus) these painful abscesses. Here's the thing....if you've gotten one before----you're more prone to getting them again....
2006 I noticed a lump on my right side with pain. took X-ray & it was superficial I have bad back pain especially around my menstrual cycle. 2007 I fell on the job and tore my meniscus I am still waiting for surgery because I took the money. Since I fell and tore my knee I have been feeling weakness in lower back and legs. Accompanied with numbness from my head to my toes on the right side.
I went to a dermatoligest before he told me i had a lipoma on my knee. For some reason it went away by it self after a few months. I just got a new one on the same leg but it's in front of my leg. Could it be possible that it moved? I'm not sure what it's. I'm scare that it's cancerous.
So now that you have the history, my problem is that no, I am not in a daze, I dont feel doped up and like I cant do **** when on meds. No one knows I'm on them, like I had said. I know I'm a great mom and a great person (I'm 26 by the way), but then there is this side of me that just feels GUILTY and embarassed for being on the meds, and then the hour or two they wear off and I get that burning pain all over....
