Avatar n tn I HAVE SWELLING BEHIND MY RIGHT EAR ON SKULL WHAT WOULD THIS BE?
Avatar f tn I am so sorry about your dog but I will try to help. One bit of optimism is that her creatinine decreased from 8 to 2 in a matter of weeks only on SC fluids and Aluminum Hydroxide. In my experience the creatinine only decreases slightly. Is it possible to have the abscess removed using a local anesthetic and sedation or even very safe general anesthesia?
Avatar n tn IS THIS AN ABSCESS TOOTH OR IS THIS FLUID FROM MY EAR. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY AFTER TWO ROUNDS OF ANITBOTICS IF THIS IS AN ABSCESS IT HASN'T WENT DOWN.
Avatar m tn I'm a 21 year old college senior, and for about a week I have had pain in my right ear, the right side of my throat and jaw. I thought at first that it was a sinus infection, but after a several day regime of mucinex and advil, I was still in quite a lot of pain. I went to the clinic on campus, and the nurse said it was probably an ear infection. I've been on an antibiotic and decongestant for three days, and the pain has gotten worse.
Avatar n tn Yes. Abscesses will often clear up on their own, but in the mouth region, there's a serious danger of tooth loss. You can call around and see if there's some sort of low/ no cost vet care in your area. Depending on what government programs you're on, you'd be eligible.

Avatar f tn Fiona is 1.5 years old, spayed, 59lbs. I'm pretty sure she's overweight for her height. Her coat is fairly thin compared to our other English, as we can see her skin through her fur on her sides, and his coat is much thicker, but he only weighs 52lbs at 2 years old. About a month ago I felt what I thought was a tick on the underside of Fiona's ear. When I looked at it, it was a little smaller than a pencil eraser, but was not a tick, it was a bump with a scab on it.
Avatar n tn Since your dog seems to have a history of atopy (licking and chewing paws and the spot on her back), the lesions on your dog's ears may be secondary to (atopy) allergic skin disease. Common causes to what you describe include: sebaceous cysts, histeocytoma's, or fly strike (fly's biting the tips of the ear and causing infection). However, due to her age I must also list much more serious causes i.e.

Avatar f tn Another Update-- She also rubs her fingertips hard on things pushing the skin over her nails (hard to explain) and she said it feels good. She randomly squeals. Now, this is difficult to explain but if she were to touch my dog's left ear and walk away, she'd stop, look like she's thinking, go back to my dog and touch my dog's right ear, then all of her paws, then her tail, then pet her head. If she pets one of my dog's heads, she has to go pet the other one's head.
Avatar m tn then one time we found out that she have abscess in one of her nipples.. then as time passes by it grow bigger and bigger. She gave birth thrice but the litter didn't survive at least three weeks old. I tough that it is because the litter zipped in the abscess nipple so they got poisoned, something like that.. Then we decided to go to veterinarian for her medical check-up.. they found out that it was a mammary tumor. Immediate operation happened next..
Avatar n tn Bostion terrier, started out as just a small bump on ear, thought at first was a tick, not, so left bump along. Now it has got bigger and yesterday when I was rubbing her I touched ear and pus came out of the now large bump. What should I do? I got more pus out today and cleaned it.
Avatar f tn Ginger is correct. Even if a dog has been neutered they still get the swelling on the penis. Dogs, like people, masturbate because it feels good to them. Neutering them will not prevent them from doing this, it merely prevents them from being able to impregnate a female, so if they are in the mood, they can still bet an erection.
Avatar f tn The swelling in your dog's ear has nothing to do with mites. She has an ear hematoma, which is defined as the ear flap veins breaking and causing a buildup of blood in that area. It is EXTREMELY painful for the dog. And there is no home remedy. She MUST have it surgically drained. Please take her to be treated as soon as you can beg or borrow money to do so.
Avatar f tn Have you looked inside the dog's ear? If a dog scratches his ear a lot, it's usually because there is some kind of infection going on inside. He'll need a vet to provide medications if that's what is going on.
Avatar f tn Recently she has been constantly scratching her right ear and rubbing it on the ground. Upon inspecting it today I noticed that the ear was very swollen and she didn't keep it up very often. As ibfelt it very lightly it feels as if it has some kind of fluid in it. She also almost never whimpers, but every now and then and when I felt it she did. I feel I should also mention that she is 15 years of age, but we have only had her about 5 years.
Avatar n tn Hi! You probably have a boil or abscess on your ear lobe. Neck lymph nodes can be the result of tonsillitis, pharyngitis (infection of upper throat), infection in mouth, caries in tooth, internal ear infection, outer ear infection, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, breast cancer, fungal infection, other cancers like lymphoma etc. If you had flu like symptoms initially then it could be due to infectious mononucleosis too. In your case in all probability it is the outer ear infection.
Avatar n tn The blood could come from something easily treated like an anal fissue/ abscess, or something as serious as cancer. Blood in the stool really needs to be evaluated by a vet because no matter what the cause, it isn't something you can cure by yourself. Is the blood noticeably bright red, and how much blood are you noticing?
Avatar f tn Hi, I have a small hole on each side of my ear and the one on my right ear is the active one that secretes white stuff that smell pretty bad. So I watched a video on youtube about preauricular sinus infection and I learned that it could lead to the formation of abscess. When I was young, I didn't know what the hole was and I often got very irritated with it when it had secretions.
Avatar f tn I found a tick on my dog's forehead about 2 weeks ago. I removed the tick, actually 2 ticks right next to each other, and put them in alcohol to kill them. There was some bleeding and I cleaned the area of where the ticks were. After the ticks died, I put them into a baggy in case she got sick, so I had them for reference. She has been herself, since then with no problems. Though the area of where the ticks were is still scarred, and the scar seems bigger. I don't get that??
