Hi again, On second thought, this lump in your armpit could also be a swollen lymph node that appeared because of an infection somewhere in the body. Swollen lymph nodes can take a long time to disappear. Please have it checked out by your physician, just to make sure. best wishes..
So about a month ago, i noticed there was this one, not that big, zit on my armpit. i decided to not do anything, but suddenly it popped or something. a few weeks later, i noticed my right armpit showed redness, and it hurts if it comes in contact with sweat or clothing or some type. i started bathing 2x a day and it helped. but right now, the redness has become darker and it burns. help?
hi, about a year ago I noticed a lump in my right armpit, also before I noticed it , I had a clumsy little fall & had a big cut on my ankle & got a abscess near it. I admit I didn't treat the area well. I went to check it out at the doctor ( the armpit boil ) , and he said it was a boil & put me on antibiotics. It didn't really help, I don't think I followed the guidelines right. that one drained soon after.
For the last few months on the right side upper outer area of right breast and underarm I have been having a dull aching feeling off and on my right side. When I feel the breast I don't feel lumps, but in the armpit I feel what I think might be a lymph node, but not sure because I tend to have lumpiness, so not sure if I am over reacting to something that has been there all a long. Can breast cancer cause an aching feeling?

Hi. The tender lump on your armpit could be a beginning localized infection like an abscess. The armpit is prone to develop infection especially after shaving or when there is too much sweating. There is a condition known as hidradenitis suppurativa which involves the sweat glands of the underarm and groin. It would be best to see you doctor for further evaluation. Take care.

A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out through the surface of the skin. Apply warm compresses on the boil and keep the area clean.
My man has been suffering with what we think began as a blocked folical after using a roll on however 2 weeks down the line he has a lump the size of a pidgeon egg, his movement is very restricted and he is beginning to feel unwell with it. I cannot get him to visit a Dr and I have some antibiotics left from an unfinished course and wondered if suitable: phenoxymethylpenicillin; or I have Naproxen which i believe is an anti inflammatory?
Both are reddish, painful and relatively (not very) hard when I raise my armpit and apply pressure on them. They occurred while I was on vacation. Could it be due to the (hotel) towels used? I'm not sure if there is a nick on my armpit, because sometimes it appears and sometimes it doesn't -- there is no way for me to identify it accurately. I am really worried and I would appreciate any advice on further identification of this problem ( i.e.
The most prevalent cause of a lump in the armpit is infection. an infection can be localized to the armpit itself (perhaps a nick from shaving) or it can be more widespread.. you may also have a boil or abscess just under the skin. 2 days ago I felt a pea size lump in the middle of my armpit and now today I woke up with a pain in the area of the lump, felt that the pea size lump is now the size of a marble and real painful to the touch. any ideas?
Hello, Such kind of scabs under the armpit can be due to folliculitis, boils, abscess, cold sores, eczema, impetigo or lipoma. Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph). Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics.
Hi there, Four years ago I got an abscess in my armpit due to an ingrown hair from shaving. It was quite a an style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>largean> round and excruciatingly painful lump (probably the size of a ping pong ball) and it had ALOT of pus come out of it but then it would fill straight back up again overnight. I went and saw my GP and was prescribed antibiotics which eventually cleared it up. It left me with a small hole in my armpit (maybe 5mm wide), which caused the abscess to come back another 3 times.
Always had it in my groin area by my underwear line by my thigh. Yesterday I got one under my armpit and it is very painful. Look it up on the internet and read about it. There is also a support group out there.
Hi, I have the exact same problem, and last night I used an antibiotic and a warm compress, but when I woke up this morning I had a big painful/itchy red rash on the other side of my armpit. Is this really abnormal? Is there some other problem? I hate going to the doctor, but I'm wondering if I should at this point. Thank you.
It may be due to some abscess formation in the armpit, lymph node swelling(due to infections of the lungs, oral cavity including teeth or malignancy of the mammary glands) or a lipoma. Constant smells may be a result of some pathology in the olfactory nerve or smell centre in the brain. I feel that an evaluation by a physician or a surgeon is a must. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Im a 24 yr old female, normally healthy and active. I have a lump in my armpit the size of a an style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>largean> marble. I noticed it 4 days ago and thought it was just an ingrown hair. I can't find a hair and its been getting an style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>largean>r and more painful every day. I tried to pop it, but it wouldn't pop, only made it more sensitive. It's underneath the skin, is hot and throbbing, and the surrounding skin has become sensitive.
For roughly about a month I have had a couple of red tender areas on my armpit that itch horribly sometimes. The spots are in the crease of my armpit, they are not bumps nor are they clustered. I do not believe that they are in-grown hairs for the reason of them not being of the pimple sort. I have not changed my brand of deodorant for a few years now. The only thing that I have changed is my soap, but I have used the brand before.
When they become enan style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>largean>d, they can be soft, rubbery and rock hard. an abscess is a collection of pus that has accumulated in a cavity formed by the tissue. TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THINGS... abscess: an abscess is a localized collection of pus that generally develops in response to infection. an abscess is typically painful, and it appears as a swollen area that is warm to the touch. The skin surrounding an abscess typically appears pink or red. Abscesses can develop in many parts of the body, but they usually involve the skin surface.
A boil may develop when the skin is infected or there is an infected hair follicle. A sweat gland abscess may form painful bump in the armpit. These are all conditions which can cause painful lump in the armpit. A complete history and clinical examination is essential for accurate diagnosis. Treatment will depend on the cause. Do consult a local health care provider. Hope you find this information useful. Best wishes!
Hi, It sounds like an abscess/boil formation, or cellulitis. Cellulitis is an infection and it's characterized by redness, swelling, warmth, and pain or tenderness. You should see a dermatologist who will treat it by draining it and most probably followed by a course of antibiotics. Even though I don't believe that this has anything to do with breast cancer, however I urge you to consult a doctor soon and get it treated to prevent further complications.
Hello, I'm 21 years old and about 4 days ago i started feeling some pain in my right armpit. After feeling it, there wasn't much to feel but over the past 4 days it has developed into 3 hard painful lumps under the skin, no discoloration, slightly an style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>largean>r in size than a pea, and increasing in size and pain everyday. Pain feels like a bruise. It's even hard for me to use my right arm to lift things or just lift my arm for that matter. i haven't had any other symptoms other than this.
the other day i woke up and i had 1 bite/hive that really itches under my armpit. it almost looks like a bruise and then skin has broken blood vessels all around it making it look purple with red spekles around it. it really itches but as of now is the only one on my body. my question is: is this something concerned with alergies or a bug bite ie bed bugs, flees etc?
Hi im not sure what this is but i have the same thing for about 2 weeks both my armpits have been really painful and i woke up this morning to a lump about a pea size in my left armpit. Ive been reading that it is most likely to be a build up of deodorant or something like that. i've been advised to not touch it and take off my under arm deodorant at night so the pores can breathe, if it hasn't gone in a week then i will visit the dr.
The tender lump on your armpit can be a beginning localized infection like an abscess. There is a condition known as hidradenitis suppurativa that can involve the sweat glands of the axilla. This is a type of localized infection and is very similar to a boil. I agree with you that cancer is not common in your age group, particularly breast cancer. You should have yourself seen by a doctor for evaluation. If it is indeed a localized infection, appropriate antimicrobial can be given. Regards.
I woke up one day and my armpit itched and I felt a small swollen area about the size of a pea, I didn't think much of it. I just put some Triamcinolone cream on it and thought it would go away. By the next day I noticed that it was bigger, not painful, but definitely bigger...about the size of a marble. I decided to go to the doctor on day 3. The P.A (physicians assistant) came in, asked if it hurt, I said no...its just a little itchy and more annoying than anything.
Then sometimes if feels like i slept wrong on my shoulder, like I can't get a comfortable postion. Tension in armpit and right outside it. whole left arm soreness feeling. I get pain sometimes as it seems right at the bottom of my left ribcage. I do have a lot of stress and anxiety though, just never thought that it could cause problems to where you think you're having a heart attack.
