Common Questions and Answers about Abscess liver symptoms

abscess

Avatar f tn More specifically it is called Amoebic Liver Abscess. The abscess, if it is one, is relative small and can be cured by antibiotics. No need to go in for aspiration. It is 100% curable. Also go in for a blood test along with a liver function test to test the levels of the enzymes. But, FIRST consult a good gastroenterologist. I wouldnt worry if I were you.
Avatar f tn So here I am about 10 years later and my abscess seems to have gone away, it doesn’t bother me at all and there are no signs or symptoms of an abscess where mine used to be. A lot of you may think that is very dumb or negligent of me but I have a CRIPPLING fear of dentists. Anyways I was wondering what everyone’s thoughts were considering everywhere I look it says that an abscess cannot go away on its own?
Avatar f tn with a Gastroenterologist, which while frustrating for me seems to be not such a big deal to the docs. Any ideas on what may be going on for me? Can liver cysts be the cause of my symptoms? Should I be seen sooner rather than later? Thanks!
Avatar m tn The fact that your son does not have any respiratory problems or other signs of illness is reassuring, and probably indicates that the current antibiotic treatment is at least keeping the liver abscess from getting worse, and may be adequately treating the abscess. Over time, the CRP should continue to drop as the infection is treated.
Avatar n tn But higher-than-normal levels of these liver enzymes should not be automatically equated with liver disease. They may mean liver problems or they may not. For example, elevations of these enzymes can occur with muscle damage. The interpretation of elevated AST and ALT levels depends upon the entire medical evaluation of the patient. It is best done by doctors experienced in evaluating liver disease and muscle disease. Were you diagnosed with hepatitis C?
Avatar m tn From another online post: This means that the scan picked up small areas of your liver that are different than the rest of the liver which puts up a "red flag" to the doctors. They know they are not simple cysts, therefore they must do further investigations to determine why these areas show up as denser than the surrounding tissue. Blood tests and possible biopsy (removing a small piece of the dense area) would be ordered.

Avatar m tn Dear Guys, I developed abscess three times with in two weeks interval in my groin area.....the last two were big and required surgery with full ansthesia. My doc therefore suggested to escape the shot at least for one week so i did not take the shot last week. I continued to take it again but I developed another abscess on the preannal position. I am afraid it will force me to discontinue the therapy. Has any one exprienced such problem during therapy?
Avatar f tn They had to remove a portion of my liver with the tumor. I have been having extreme pain on my right side by my liver. I got a CT scan & they found a lot of scar tissue on my liver & they also found a cyst. Could the scar tissue and/or cyst be causing that pain?
Avatar f tn I am 28 yrs old female. I have recurring upper left quadrant pain, radiating thru to under left shoulder blade that is moderate, but severe when I inhale or move a certain way. I also have a constant "ate too much" feeling, and occasionally( for lack of better description) a heartbeat in my stomach area just below where the pain is. I have had several test on the heart as well as GI.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if you know why you developed the abscess to start with? Have you had recent liver/gallbladder surgery, or hepatitis A,B, or C? You should be having Liver function tests being done to track your progress, and if you haven't, get tested for Hepatitis C. If your liver was simply inflamed from the infection, it should reduce in size eventually (since the infection is gone) unless you have an underlying problem like cirrhosis. I hope this answers your question a little...
Avatar m tn Abscesses can also affect the brain, kidneys, liver (hepatic abscess), lungs, teeth (dental abscess), and tonsils (peritonsillar abscess). Inflammation surrounding hair follicles can lead to the formation of abscesses. Skin abscesses are often referred to as boils. Unlike other infections, antibiotics alone will not cure an abscess. In general, abscesses must open and drain to improve.
Avatar n tn then saw surgeon and she also found enlarged lymph nodes by groin. I have zero symptoms of lymphoma. all drs are thinking it can be that. what do you think. all enlarged lymph nodes are on my left side. Avatar n tn I have hepatitis B and have an abscess in my liver. My doctor is monitoring my ALT and the number was down to 80 from 200. Does that mean I have an acute hepatitis B? If my ALT would normalize does it mean I have chronic hepatitis B?
Avatar m tn 5cm size collection seen in right psoas abscess. At before test of MRI at operation time it was found aaprox 11.0*4.5*5.0 cm size of psoas abscess was noted. Now, after examining the latest report Dr pant said that there is not possible to take out the psoas abscess and he too concluded that this abscess will be eliminated by the tb drugs. and TB consultant has provided me two types of tb drugs 1. Ethambutol 1200 mg and 2. Isoniazid 300 mg and rifampicin 300mg .
Avatar f tn The most frequent presenting symptoms are headache, drowsiness, confusion, seizures, hemiparesis or speech difficulties together with fever with a rapidly progressive course. The symptoms and findings depend largely on the specific location of the abscess in the brain.Endocarditis, frontal sinus defect, gram negative bacilli Brain Abscess Following Klebsiella pneumoniae Septicemia are some of the causes.
2085202 tn?1373199740 Hi again, I totally made a mistake it is a liver abscess that my sister in law had not a cyst. So you don't have to go to the ER. But you should treated with antibiotics if you have diverticulitis (not diverticulosis). I hope I didn't totally freak you out. THey won't have to drain the cyst. I don't know why I thought this was the same. I couldn't erase the last message.
Avatar m tn I have a large swollen/painful abscess in my lower right facial cheek area. i have received antitbiotics for the infection. Do i need to have it drained? If so what type of Doctor/Dentist do you recommend?
984963 tn?1248824964 t be sure what it was, she is now in Rotorua Hospital undergoing a series of test, that seem to come back normal apart from a severe liver infection, but however within 24 hours of her admission, she developed paralysis down her leftside and the migrains have got worse, we have not yet received any answers apart from we are waiting for an appointment to see a Neurologist in Waikato Hospital, in Hamilton.
Avatar n tn The pain of this intensity coming spasmodically could be due to gall stones, infection in gall bladder, liver abscess or an abscess under the diaphragm. A CT scan of the upper abdomen should be done immediately. The other possibility is intestinal spam due to celiac disease or Crohn’s disease or due to IBS. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn I wanted to know if these symptoms were brain abscess symptoms. I am a bit of a hypacondriact and I always think the worst is happening when it's usually very normal issues. IE if i have slight chest pain, I will think I have heart issues. That sort of thing. I think maybe my anxiety is getting the better of me. Any help would be appreciated.
