A collection of fluid around the
liver can be due to a number of causes. The fluid could be ascites blood, urine, chyle, bile, pancreatic juice or pus. This fluid can be due to any trauma, obstruction of bile duct, infection, abscess, cirrhosis, autoimmune diseases, heart failure etc.Pneumonia, kidney and liver disease, heart failure and autoimmune diseases all can have pleural effusion. A clinical correlation is very important for confirming the diagnosis.
