Common Questions and Answers about Abscess liver substance

abscess

Avatar f tn More specifically it is called Amoebic Liver Abscess. The abscess, if it is one, is relative small and can be cured by antibiotics. No need to go in for aspiration. It is 100% curable. Also go in for a blood test along with a liver function test to test the levels of the enzymes. But, FIRST consult a good gastroenterologist. I wouldnt worry if I were you.
Avatar f tn ve posted this result of your liver test in the Substance Abuse Community. Have you had any problems with Substance Abuse?
Avatar n tn Some people are saying it might be a caker sore or an abscess. The bump became bigger and I noticed a white substance inside of the bump. It grew bigger than with the help of hot water and salt it began to drain. First question what is this on my gum? How long does it take to heal? and Should I go to the dentist after it fully heals?
Avatar m tn The fact that your son does not have any respiratory problems or other signs of illness is reassuring, and probably indicates that the current antibiotic treatment is at least keeping the liver abscess from getting worse, and may be adequately treating the abscess. Over time, the CRP should continue to drop as the infection is treated.
Avatar f tn Anal abscess is an infected cavity filled with pus found near the anus or rectum. Pus drains out if the skin over the abscess breaks. An abscess usually results from an acute infection of a small gland just inside the anus. An anal fistula, on the other hand, usually results from a previous abscess. It is a small tunnel connecting the anal gland from which the abscess arose to the skin outside the anus.
Avatar f tn I've had an abscess (it's draining and draining and draining) for about 10 years, but it hasn't gone away totally yet, but it's much better than it was initially. I take cod liver oil with butter oil and try to avoid eating a lot of sugar and refined flour. I do have high blood pressure which I heard that it may be caused by a long term infection, so it's something to watch out for. That is SO great your abscess has healed!
Avatar n tn It is producing a green substance. The skin is peeling in the area. It hurts quit abit like a bad sun burn. It feels like its getting worse as the days go .
Avatar m tn Dear Guys, I developed abscess three times with in two weeks interval in my groin area.....the last two were big and required surgery with full ansthesia. My doc therefore suggested to escape the shot at least for one week so i did not take the shot last week. I continued to take it again but I developed another abscess on the preannal position. I am afraid it will force me to discontinue the therapy. Has any one exprienced such problem during therapy?
Avatar f tn They had to remove a portion of my liver with the tumor. I have been having extreme pain on my right side by my liver. I got a CT scan & they found a lot of scar tissue on my liver & they also found a cyst. Could the scar tissue and/or cyst be causing that pain?
Avatar f tn I was wondering if you know why you developed the abscess to start with? Have you had recent liver/gallbladder surgery, or hepatitis A,B, or C? You should be having Liver function tests being done to track your progress, and if you haven't, get tested for Hepatitis C. If your liver was simply inflamed from the infection, it should reduce in size eventually (since the infection is gone) unless you have an underlying problem like cirrhosis. I hope this answers your question a little...
Avatar f tn Was told my gallbladder looks normal ( had ct scan with contrast injection) but was asked to come back for an ultrasound I did, which apparently showed enlarged bile ducts, Doc ordered a MRCT which apparently showed multiple liver cysts I am currently waiting for an appt. with a Gastroenterologist, which while frustrating for me seems to be not such a big deal to the docs. Any ideas on what may be going on for me? Can liver cysts be the cause of my symptoms?
Avatar m tn Abscesses can also affect the brain, kidneys, liver (hepatic abscess), lungs, teeth (dental abscess), and tonsils (peritonsillar abscess). Inflammation surrounding hair follicles can lead to the formation of abscesses. Skin abscesses are often referred to as boils. Unlike other infections, antibiotics alone will not cure an abscess. In general, abscesses must open and drain to improve.
Avatar n tn I have hepatitis B and have an abscess in my liver. My doctor is monitoring my ALT and the number was down to 80 from 200. Does that mean I have an acute hepatitis B? If my ALT would normalize does it mean I have chronic hepatitis B?

1670196 tn?1306841245 I was gushing blood like substance from my vagina and by the time I got to the ultra sound, I could not pee anymore (literally nothing would come out). I was put on antibiotics and on 5/7 I had a drainage tube put in (a VERY PAINFUL PROCEDURE) because I was told that I had abscess. On 5/9 it was taken out because they said it wasn't an abscess it was a hematoma or a seroma (the drainage tube had not drained anything and had caused A LOT of pain).
Avatar f tn IV drug User, I mainlyuse Heroin. My right arm just had a abscess that burst while inshower. Drained quickly & healed quickly. However my left forearm became swollen overnight and has light red bruising patches where my last hits were. There are no streaks but have dull pain and are not hot but warm. In the middle of the crook of this arm, the same day of the swelling onset, a strange small blister came quickly and quickly burst with blood.

Avatar n tn But higher-than-normal levels of these liver enzymes should not be automatically equated with liver disease. They may mean liver problems or they may not. For example, elevations of these enzymes can occur with muscle damage. The interpretation of elevated AST and ALT levels depends upon the entire medical evaluation of the patient. It is best done by doctors experienced in evaluating liver disease and muscle disease. Were you diagnosed with hepatitis C?
Avatar n tn The pain of this intensity coming spasmodically could be due to gall stones, infection in gall bladder, liver abscess or an abscess under the diaphragm. A CT scan of the upper abdomen should be done immediately. The other possibility is intestinal spam due to celiac disease or Crohn’s disease or due to IBS. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn From another online post: This means that the scan picked up small areas of your liver that are different than the rest of the liver which puts up a "red flag" to the doctors. They know they are not simple cysts, therefore they must do further investigations to determine why these areas show up as denser than the surrounding tissue. Blood tests and possible biopsy (removing a small piece of the dense area) would be ordered.

Avatar f tn If you have pain under your right rib and constant nausea then there could be a liver infection or a gall bladder problem. Get a liver function test, ultrasound or CT of abdomen, pancreatic enzymes, a repeat chest X-ray and hemogram and iron status.
Avatar n tn Four months ago I had a cosmetic nose surgery to protrude the tip of my nose (it was flat.) A substance(some kind of natural fat) taken from my own body was used to place in the tip of my nose. One month ago, I noticed a round bump which looked much like an external blister started to form on the right side of the nose piece that runs in between the nostrils. A dry patch of skin formed on the outside and the "blister" is soft and skin colored.
Avatar n tn A collection of fluid around the liver can be due to a number of causes. The fluid could be ascites blood, urine, chyle, bile, pancreatic juice or pus. This fluid can be due to any trauma, obstruction of bile duct, infection, abscess, cirrhosis, autoimmune diseases, heart failure etc.Pneumonia, kidney and liver disease, heart failure and autoimmune diseases all can have pleural effusion. A clinical correlation is very important for confirming the diagnosis.
