On Sunday, I sought medical treatment at a local clinic as my doctors office was closed. They lanced, drained, and packed the abscess. The PA did things much differently than I've ever had done before. Firstly, he used no lidocaine or numbing medication, as he said it doesn't help. Let me tell you-this was much more excruciating than the other lances I've had done. Also, he didn't squeeze the pus out, he just let it drain on its own.

I'm very scared I had a pain in my right breast one day and I thought it was maybe just where I laid on the couch with my husband and goes sleep on it with my arm against it but it just kept hurting for about a month and then it started to swell three times the other size of my left breast now I had it lanced and now another one popped up I think I'm going to have to have it lanced to cuz it's very big does anybody know what it means when the culture came back is they did

If the infection does not clear up after you have completed the antibiotics,the abscess should be lanced and drained.But if it doesn't clear up after this procedure,a wide excision of the infected area may help. I would also advise you to consult a Breast Specialist who might recommend a few tests,including a Mammogram/Ultrasound to further investigate this problem. Best wishes..

When I asked what was wrong he said it could be a few things and prescribed Augmentin 825 mg twice daily and Naproxenum 250 mg twice daily for a week. I asked if it could be a perianal abscess or a hematoma and if it should be lanced and drained. He said told me it is best to wait and see if it gets worse and if it does go back to a doctor and have it looked at again.

I have had those, very painful. U will either need antibiotics or it lanced depending on the severity of the infection. The longer untreated the more likely to need it lanced, which is very very painful. Weigh your options and do what u think is best.

My lower left rear abscess appeared overnight, even my dentist said it was "a good size abscess" so yesterday I had it lanced and drained. I was put on Erithromycin 250mg and per my Dr.'s instruction, took four immediately then one every 6 hours and will finish them by the time of my root canal appointment in 6 more days. Yesterday i went back to the emergency room and the abscess was lanced but nothing came again but blood. It is so hard and large the doctor said it was urated i dont know the exact word but it needs to be surgically removed. So has anyone had abscess in the below the vagina are surgically removed? If so did you have to stay overnight in the hospital? Was their a lot of pain afterward?

My dog has what seems to be an abscess on his neck. It's underneath on the side. I only noticed when petting him. It doesn't seem to hurt him, he still has his appetite, and is as playful as ever. Do you think this is something I can treat by cleaning with a warm compress and peroxide?

Sometimes taking antibiotics is not enough and the abscess needs to be lanced and drained,like I mentioned in my first response to your post. Please don't think that you are going to die okay?...no one dies because of abscesses or boils. Hoping that soon you'll have this problem resolved. Best wishes....

I had a hip replacement surgery january 2018 and 1 yr 6 months almost to the day I had an abscess show up at the incision site. Since June 2019 I have had it lanced and packed. Then a debridement August 20 and then again october 1 what is going on. Is my body rejecting my hip after a year and a half the abscess is back once again what is going on. Please help!!!!!

Hi there, A dental examination is very important for determining the exact cause of your symptoms. It is possible that acute abscess has been developing. It is best to get an appropriate evaluation and treatment done. If there was a root canal done in the above tooth? The dentist obviously feels that it is not ready to be lanced just yet. I had to get surgery due to the frequency and severity of the abscesses in my right armpit. The doctors removed my sweat gland and all of the skin that had hair. Now out of antibiotics and her paw has swelled up again. I think it needs lanced but Vet not opened till tomorrow morn. I dont know if she can wait? Emergancy Vet will cost alot!! What should I do.

Sounds like this may be an abscess which should be seen by a Vet. The dog would probably need antibiotics and need it lanced or a drain put in. If it has spread, I don't think I would try to treat this at home. Hope you get to the Vet.

A lump that feels warm and is present on the side of the face (underneath where the earlobe attached to my face) could be a swollen lymph node or a chronically inflamed parotid gland or a parotid abscess (localized collection of pus) or an abscess not involving the parotid gland. It has not responded to a week course of amoxycillin. I have been taking bactrin for four days to no improvement. It was lanced by a medical 'professional' who thought it might be pus but only blood appeared. I have no fever, blood pressure is normal, heart rate normal. No loss of appetite. The lump is tender to the touch and getting worse. It now sends out waves of minor pain through the area. No connection between the pain and exertion.

Then as soon as that was fixed I got an abscess that joined up to my anus. Had it lanced and drained/packed and put on antibiotics. Then just recently I have had a abscess develop on my right labia minora, which poped on its own, but not even 5 days later it was back and had to go to theatre for drainage. I have now been informed that during the surgery the doctor picked up on a systolic grade 3 heart murmur. Please has anyone else experienced this it know of anyone who has.

Hi, I have what I am 99% sure is a Bartholin Cyst or abscess since it is painful, tender & swollen. I am a medical technician who spent 2 years treating regular abscess' so I kind of know what I am in for but have never dealt with the bartholin gland type. I am worried because I know that it is very difficult to anesthetize and abscess locally. I am hoping I am not too late for antibiotic/ sitz bath therapy.

Hi, You should definitely stop squeezing this lump as you may cause the infection to worsen.What you have sounds like an abscess that has to be lanced and drained by a Doctor or a Dermatologist, who may also prescribe an antibiotic. Please take my advice and make an appointment ASAP with one of the Doctors I mentioned Self medicating yourself is not a good idea when you have an infection. Take care...

The pain became unbearable so I went to the ER. They lanced it and told me I had an abscess. They just put gauze over it and sent me away with antibiotics. Well it's been a week now and I'm worried how long before it heals? It is still draining I went to the doc yesterday and they gave me an antibiotics shot and did a culture. How long will I have to deal with this? Its the size of a quarter but its giving me a lot of trouble. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum.

By the morning of May 9th, the low grade fever and blood disappeared, and the abscess was lanced and drained on May 11th. I remained on the antibiotics for the full course. Unfortunately, within 24 hours of coming off the antibiotics (back on May 17th) the low grade fever has returned. On May 20th, the blood and mucus has been coming and going (I saw some on May 20, 23 and 24).
