Avatar f tn I have a reoccurring. Bartholin abscess how do I get rid if it permanently? I have another one now and am feeding the doctor because I know they will painfully lance it open again. Please help!
Avatar f tn If the abscess has not come to a head yet, soak in a hot bath to help it come to a head. If the abscess keeps flaring up, it is likely that the root had not been removed or there is a blockage of the gland itself. If any abscess root is left, will just flare up again. Marsupialisation is a small operation that is the traditional treatment used to treat a Bartholin's cyst or abscess. This operation creates a small new permanent opening for fluid to drain out of the gland.
Avatar f tn Could also be an abscess, warm compresses may help relieve that. If it doesn't subside than your family doc may lance and drain it. You will usually feel instant relief after that.
Avatar n tn If you doctor feels it is required, he may prescribe an antibiotic for the infection and may also need to lance the bump if it is ready but a head is not forming. The bacteria can travel into the body, so do not neglect it. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn On Sunday, I sought medical treatment at a local clinic as my doctors office was closed. They lanced, drained, and packed the abscess. The PA did things much differently than I've ever had done before. Firstly, he used no lidocaine or numbing medication, as he said it doesn't help. Let me tell you-this was much more excruciating than the other lances I've had done. Also, he didn't squeeze the pus out, he just let it drain on its own.
Avatar f tn It is difficult to comment without examination. Lump behind the ear could be an abscess, folliculitis (hair follicle infection), lipoma (localized collection of fat), a cyst, an inflamed lymph node or a neurofibroma (localized harmless swelling in of nerve and connective tissue). Since it has been there for years it must be a lipoma, a cyst, a swollen lymph node. Please do not squeeze it again and again. Consult a doctor and get this examined.
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome...This sounds like an abscess. You'll want your vet to treat it before it gets out of control. Does your boy go outside? If so, he may of gotten into a scuffle with another cat. This is often how abscess happen...from an infected scratch or bite. I know hydrogen peroxide can be safely used, however, what I don't know is if that in itself will take care of it. Best of luck and please keep us posted!
Avatar n tn It does sound like a bite to me, and if so, the trick is to locate it and lance the abscess. Antibiotics, not anti-inflammatories, would be called for after cleaning out the wound.
1722996 tn?1309483838 I had a suddent onset of a knot that start swelling in th eright arm pit, by the next day it had doubled in size pain was horrible. The er doctor said it was an abcess it was lance, to the Dr. suprise not an abcess and not draining. I have also had a suden tonset of sever ful like symptoms with a high white count and I am on my second round of antobiotoics and pain medication. Sonogram showed a mass surrounded by blood> What is this and will it have to be surgically removed.
Avatar f tn Is that better and you are just seeing spots or do you still have symptoms? They do sometimes lance the abscess which it sounds like they do and often that and antibiotics will do the trick. However, sometimes the tonsils have to be removed. As to tonsilitis, that's a different diagnosis. Your doctor will likely swab the white spots. Keep in mind if you have no symptoms of a sore throat, it could be something like oral yeast infection from taking antibiotics.
Avatar f tn About 10-12 years ago I started getting abscesses on my inner thigh and underarms. They hurt but I was always able to find the soft center and lance/drain myself. I was diagnosed with hidradentist suppurtiva at 22. Now I only get abscesses on my right butt cheek. I have had 9 drained in a doctors office/ER. I have tried 27 oral antibiotics, finding allergies to 6. I recently finished 1000mg/10 days of Clindomycin after having a third abscess drained in less than a week.
Avatar m tn At least he is on antibiotics but, the usual treatment is to lance it and/or put a drain in it to get that infection out of there. If that wasn't done, and he is getting worse, I would get him to another Vet or an ER ASAP before that becomes a systemic infection. Good lyck and please come back and update us.
Avatar f tn The simple way to get it taken care of is going to a dermatologist, tell em whats up, and theyll usually inject the area with some anesthetic and just cut it aka lance it...and then theyll squeeze out the fluid and thats it, it simply heals up and disappears and after a month theres no scar...
Avatar n tn I have an abscessed tooth and its in my gums on bottom, been on antibiotics, painkiller for five days, swollen and big lump on jaw. Dentist wont lance it because it still hasn't come up to a head yet. Should I go to ER, or just give it more time?
Avatar m tn I have had reoccurring infections of various kinds over the past several years including styes, cysts in my upper thigh regions, nose, and now a golfball sized abcess on my back. I've been prescribed apo cephalex 4x daily @ 500 mg, and have been taking echinecea and doing hot compresses several times a day. Nothing seems to be helping so far, and when I went in to the clinic doctor, she said it was too hard to lance (on the 20th, it's now 11 pm of the 23rd)....
Avatar f tn I have not across any who has had a needle injected to clear rubbish out of a cyst, boil or abscess. If it does become large, the doctor can lance it to drain the rubbish out. The doctor will always examine the "lump" and will make the decision whether an antibiotic should be prescribed. Boils and abscesses do start from having a small pimple and infection can spread inwards which can become very dangerous and life threatening.
Avatar f tn t work me in til Monday afternoon Now if I go to the hospital would the lance it or pop it or something I cnt take this pain, its actually causing me to cramp a lot today too. Idk why tho.
Avatar n tn I have a very serious fear of dentist from an early age. I just had an abscess that developed in my jaw. I went to the ER and was told it was dental. However the Dr did lance it with a size 9 needle with out numbing me. That has sent me really over the edge with fear. What type of dental reference should I look for in the future? Is there any help for me with the fear? Pls help I'm am so scared.
Avatar f tn It helps decrease inflammation which in turn decreases pain. Do not try to lance it or pop it because this can cause infection to become worse. If it starts to grow in size or redness and looks infected (like if pus turns green or yellow, red streaks down leg etc), GO TO A DOCTOR!! I know you don't have health insurance but a staph infection such as MRSA could happen and that is very dangerous. Here is a link to what MRSA can look like for reference just in case!
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. It starts as a reddened, tender area that becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. There are several different types of boils depending on the location: furuncle, carbuncle, cystic acne, hidradenitis suppurativa, or pilonidal cyst.
1548207 tn?1303454180 She asked me to clean ot with Betadine (antiseptic solution) which I kept handy ever since this abscess series. And then do the gauze dressing just like you did. Basically you just have to try and keep it infection free untill you see your doctor. I went to see her the next day and she cleaned everything out by expressing it (I still remember the pain while she was pressing I almost drove out some of her patients waiting outside bcoz of my oooo aaaaaass and ouch :)).
Avatar n tn The doctor told me it was most likely an abscess and wrote me a prescription for 250 mg of Amoxicillin (3x a day) and told me to get to a dentist the next day because she assumed they were going to want to lance/drain the infection. I was able to see a dentist today and after an x-ray he determined extraction would be the best option for me since the decay extends under the bone.
Avatar m tn Your uncle needs to see his doctor with regard to his boils. Bacteria from boils can spread internally. The doctor may need to lance and drain the boil and may also prescribe an antibiotic, a drawing ointment, or an antibacterial cream.
Avatar n tn The irritation has gone down a lot after doing that, and it feels hard but is getting flatter, no pain at all(never was actually), but is still red as you can see, as it is healing. Should I have a professional lance it, or just keep applying neosporin, a hot towel, and a bandaid overnight to get it to go away? I'd like to handle it myself if I can, but want to see a professional if it's recommended. I've attached a current photo of it.
