Avatar m tn For the last 4 months or so Ive had a thickening of the skin over my right axillae. I has a huge abscess in the area which resolved spontaneously after antibiotics. I noticed the irregularity in my skin soon afterwards. The lump hasnt increased in size but it wont go away either. Any thoughts??....thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi angel114, Typically if a abscess forms you take antibiotics, and if it's bad enough they have to also be drained, you can't really "cut out" an abscess,at least not without taking healthy tissue with it. Your grandmother should receive a pelvic exam to determine the cause and extent of the abscess to determine the correct treatment,a small sample may also be taken to rule out cancer beings she is post menopausal.
Avatar m tn An abscess is basically a build up of pus and infection in the jaw bone area. I assume that since you've seen a dentist recently, it probably would've been spotted at your last checkup as they generally develop from large cavities. There are abscess that also develop from gum disease as well but assuming you had a cleaning and check up, thats also a little more unlikely. Best to get it checked out and taken care of.
Avatar f tn More specifically it is called Amoebic Liver Abscess. The abscess, if it is one, is relative small and can be cured by antibiotics. No need to go in for aspiration. It is 100% curable. Also go in for a blood test along with a liver function test to test the levels of the enzymes. But, FIRST consult a good gastroenterologist. I wouldnt worry if I were you.
Avatar f tn I have what they call a bi-cornuate uterus which basically means that there is a divide in my uterus (pretty much what you have). I did not find this out until I was pg for the 2nd time (the first ended in m/c). This has not impacted on me being able to conceive as I have had 3 pregnancies and one successful birth. When i had all my ulstrasounds I was told that as you get further and bigger into your pregnancy, the line in the middle will move to make room for the baby.
Avatar n tn painful lumps in the anus/rectum, pain and swelling in the anus or buttocks area, painful bowel movements, fever/ or night sweats, and abdominal pain. Antibiotics treat the infection that has caused the abscess. The specific antibiotic depends on what infectious organism has caused the abscess. Whether the abscess is drained or not, antibiotics are always used to treat the underlying infection. Needle aspiration of the abscess to remove the infectious fluid.
1310824 tn?1332377629 I also spent 3 days in the hospital at the end of July due to an abcess behind my uterus....I had 2 days of bleeding while in the hospital so I'm not sure if that would be considered a normal cycle or not...Well I went from the first date I started bleeding in June the 20th and since I started my period this morning I seem to be right on track.... I was told to wait 6 months before trying to conceive again but that seems like a lifetime away...
1666982 tn?1445198395 The reason I have reocurring fistulas was due to a abscess that was opened from the wrong direction, by a gynecologist. So maybe another abscess.
Avatar f tn Either your husband has been bitten by something or you have developed an abscess. If it is an abscess it will need to be drained. Take an anti-inflammatory analgesic like ibuprofen and an anti allergic and see if that helps. If it is an insect bite, it will improve. However if the insect’s sting is left inside, then also it will not heal unless the sting is removed. Keep the hand raised on a pillow kept beside him when he is lying—basically avoid the hand hanging down.
Avatar n tn From what you are describing I would think it may be a Bartholin's cyst or abscess. The Bartholin glands are in the lower portion of the vagina and while the cyst isn't supposed to be painful, the abscess is and I would imagine if the cyst were big enough it would hurt. You may want to see your gyn about this. Also you can google Bartholin's cyst and you will get a lot of information.
Avatar f tn This may be brought about by a break in the skin/areola, producing a superimposed infection and thus abscess formation. If there is an abscess, incision and drainage must be done and the specimen is sent to the pathologist for evaluation. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Over the past couple days I developed an extremely painful abscess. In an attempt to clean my mouth using coconut oil the abscess burst. I believe I didn't swallow any of the liquid leaking out and throughly rinsed my mouth with salt water and then some hydrogen peroxide. I will be receiving insurance in about 2 weeks from my new job so I am hoping I can hold off going to the dentist till then.
Avatar m tn Hi I woke up and felt a lump on my cheek (right) , I can't see anything in my gums and on my cheek it doesn't look swelled up , though you can definitely feel a lump Any ideas what it is or how to get rid of
Avatar f tn Sorry for another question. Is the perianal abscess or the opening of an anal fistula considered as an open sore/wound? Many thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn Tooth numbness can be caused due to a number of reasons like apical abscess, pulpitis, impacted tooth, dental abscess, dental cavities. It would be better if you consult a good dentist for the purpose at the earliest.
691614 tn?1227464651 I have a white lump that has appeared in my gum above my front tooth. It isn't painful but when pressed I feel pressure on my tooth. It has been there about 3 weeks now. What it is?
Avatar f tn Hi, lump in the gums above and adjacent to the teeth most commonly can be tooth abscess or fistula opening due to infected tooth. You may just check out any frank cavity or food imapaction area in related teeth to the swelling. In such case you may need antibiotics and root canal treatment of the affected tooth with the help of a dentist. Other possibilties could be pyogenic granuloma, fibroma, periodontal abscess etc. Check out with local dentist to confirm.
1090423 tn?1286287650 Breast swelling with pain in ribs and headache can be due to fibroadenosis (treated by Danazol and other hormones) or due to abscess in the breast. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examination. An abscess of breast would need incision and drainage. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn Other answers I found while searching for something to help me. t sounds as though you might have what is known as a Bartholin's abscess or cyst. There are glands in the vaginal lips called Bartholin’s glands. These can become painful and swollen, and an abscess can form. This often causes blockage in the main duct from the gland, and a cyst develops. This is felt as a painless, hard swelling.
Avatar f tn As the surgeon was out of the city so i thought not to go with a new doctor/surgeon, then in another 7-8 days a big abscess was formed and it busted automatically on 1st of August, almost 350-500 ml puss came out then. I got a swab/puss report on 5th of August and it indicated "Staphylococcus Aureus" bacteria. After looking into the report, my surgeon advised me to start "Dalacin C - 300 mg" twice a day and then I continued it for 4 days.
Avatar f tn Hi! I had lower back pain and an MRI showed following findings: - Sacralisation of L5 vertebra - An altered marrow signals involving L5 and S1 vertebrae including left ala with an associated soft tissue representing granulation tissue / abscess in paracentral region (left > right) as well as an intra spinal anterior epidural soft tissue component compressing thecal sac and nerve roots of lumbo-sacral plexus s/o- An infective -inflammatory pathology like Koch's.
Avatar f tn Hi there. Gosh, this sounds terrible. I'm sorry you are going through all of this. You've been through it before (do you have a condition causing these cysts called hydroadenitis?) so know what to expect. This is different. Honestly, I'd check in. This is your health and if you feel like something isn't right, follow up on that.
592047 tn?1243385987 s are....... How does an infection / abscess in the mother cat affect the unborn kittens?? What sort of abnormalities can occur in the kittens?? And..... How long does it usually take for abscesses to heal?? My cat is in so much pain and is still lame in her paw, but the vet said he doesn't want to give her any painkillers because she is pregnant.
Avatar n tn I think it is pelvic inflammatory disease which is causing pain in the lower abdomen after urination and after sex. But it is difficult to say without physical examination. Pelvic inflammatory disease is a term for inflammation of the female uterus, fallopian tubes, and/or ovaries as it progresses to scar formation with adhesions to nearby tissues and organs. This may lead to tissue necrosis and sometimes abscess formation.
