Avatar n tn I cannot confirm anything without examination of this deep hole in your skin. The type of hole and associated features will help in arriving at a diagnosis. Get it seen by a surgeon. I sincerely hope it helps. Take care and best regards!
Avatar f tn They* not thyroid. Sorry.
Avatar n tn I at that time did not think I needed to tell him about the large painful boil on my left butt cheek, but now I am getting a little concerned, can this cause infection in my new hip? I have gotten Boils in the butt & groin area in the past, so I am not sure if I should be concerned or not??? Please let me know if this is something I should call and let my OS know. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Any pain that seems to be in the area of the rectum, makes me leary of abscesses, but this is different. The pain is in the left gluteus, into the bend of my hip, as well as the rectum. Seems that sitting worsens things, and I have been trying to sit/lie to my right to accomodate, but the pain never entirely goes away. The pain is not the same as an abscess, not as severe, and there is not the feeling of swelling, like there is with an abscess.
Avatar n tn I have two lumps between my ribs and hip on the right side. They seem to be well below the skin. What could they be? Is cancer the only condition that could cause lumps there? One is the size of a plumb the other smaller.
Avatar f tn 9 days after finishing the treatment that made me incredibly sick, I developed ANOTHER abscess on my right buttock that is causing pain in the hip, lower back and entire right leg. I can hardly walk, the pain is making me vomit, and I am at my wit's end!!!! Tomorrow PM I am going to the ER once again to have this one drained too. I can not deal with this pain almost every week, my insurance is pissed and I'm just exhausted(I can't sleep while I have these.
Avatar f tn extremely swollen right leg especially around knee joint - could not even bend knee, terrible hip pain and two days later a tooth abscess. What are the chances I can tolerate Boniva once a month? My Endocrinologist wants me to try it.
Avatar f tn Pain and discomfort on the lower left side of abdomen can be due to several causes such as Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, adhesions (if you had previous abdominal surgery, IBS, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle. Since you do not have a lump or a tender hot spot, in all probability it is not a muscle. It could also be a periumbilical hernia that has got trapped resulting in small bowel obstruction or mesenteric ischemia.

619150 tn?1247048274 how much damage can I have from having this infection for so long? I have had both knees replaced, a cataract surgery in one eye and scheduled for cataract surgery for the other eye next week. I am also looking at a hip replacement in the near future. I am concerned about one of my knees as the doc said the infection could settle there and I have been experiencing pain. I am also concerned if I should have the cataract surgery as I did experience a lot of swelling with the last surgery.
Avatar n tn Also there was small lump formation in the left hip. It was small in begining and now it grew into quite big lump. If u press with ur fingers, both the lumps are hard. The botton lump in the hip region is prominent and one can visually see the bulge. Kindly advise.
Avatar m tn For the last 4 months or so Ive had a thickening of the skin over my right axillae. I has a huge abscess in the area which resolved spontaneously after antibiotics. I noticed the irregularity in my skin soon afterwards. The lump hasnt increased in size but it wont go away either. Any thoughts??....thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi angel114, Typically if a abscess forms you take antibiotics, and if it's bad enough they have to also be drained, you can't really "cut out" an abscess,at least not without taking healthy tissue with it. Your grandmother should receive a pelvic exam to determine the cause and extent of the abscess to determine the correct treatment,a small sample may also be taken to rule out cancer beings she is post menopausal.
Avatar m tn An abscess is basically a build up of pus and infection in the jaw bone area. I assume that since you've seen a dentist recently, it probably would've been spotted at your last checkup as they generally develop from large cavities. There are abscess that also develop from gum disease as well but assuming you had a cleaning and check up, thats also a little more unlikely. Best to get it checked out and taken care of.
Avatar f tn However, it sounds like your pain started pretty much immediately. It is possible that the abscess is to blame, at least in part. But surgical positioning (especially that used with the robot) can cause spine and nerve damage especially if you had a long surgery. Have you had any x-rays or other imaging to try to determine the cause? Unfortunately, if you have nerve damage, that's difficult to diagnose. I hope you can get some help and relief!
Avatar f tn More specifically it is called Amoebic Liver Abscess. The abscess, if it is one, is relative small and can be cured by antibiotics. No need to go in for aspiration. It is 100% curable. Also go in for a blood test along with a liver function test to test the levels of the enzymes. But, FIRST consult a good gastroenterologist. I wouldnt worry if I were you.
Avatar n tn painful lumps in the anus/rectum, pain and swelling in the anus or buttocks area, painful bowel movements, fever/ or night sweats, and abdominal pain. Antibiotics treat the infection that has caused the abscess. The specific antibiotic depends on what infectious organism has caused the abscess. Whether the abscess is drained or not, antibiotics are always used to treat the underlying infection. Needle aspiration of the abscess to remove the infectious fluid.
Avatar n tn You might not see one until it begins to abscess. Is he exposed to other cats with whom he might fight? Does he hiss at you if you touch him anywhere on his hip or leg? It does sound like a bite to me, and if so, the trick is to locate it and lance the abscess. Antibiotics, not anti-inflammatories, would be called for after cleaning out the wound.
1666982 tn?1445198395 The reason I have reocurring fistulas was due to a abscess that was opened from the wrong direction, by a gynecologist. So maybe another abscess.
Avatar n tn It felt like my hip was on fire as soon as the nurse stuck it in my hip and has hurt me everyday since. Now I have low back pain AND hip pain. I have to take neurontin now on top of the pain/antiflammitory pills. Has anyone else out there experienced anything like this? It has been almost a year since I got the shot and I'm still hurting. I'm getting worried because the pain is starting to travel down my right leg.
1511025 tn?1290133257 Pain and discomfort on the lower left side of abdomen just below and to the left of navel can be due to several causes such as Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, adhesions, polycystic ovary in females, IBS, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle. Since you do not have a lump or a tender hot spot, in all probability it is not a muscle.
Avatar f tn Either your husband has been bitten by something or you have developed an abscess. If it is an abscess it will need to be drained. Take an anti-inflammatory analgesic like ibuprofen and an anti allergic and see if that helps. If it is an insect bite, it will improve. However if the insect’s sting is left inside, then also it will not heal unless the sting is removed. Keep the hand raised on a pillow kept beside him when he is lying—basically avoid the hand hanging down.
Avatar n tn From what you are describing I would think it may be a Bartholin's cyst or abscess. The Bartholin glands are in the lower portion of the vagina and while the cyst isn't supposed to be painful, the abscess is and I would imagine if the cyst were big enough it would hurt. You may want to see your gyn about this. Also you can google Bartholin's cyst and you will get a lot of information.
