I think that if you are dissatisfied with your present doctor (as you have mentioned in your profile page) I would advise you to consult with a Breast Surgeon or a Dermatologist to obtain better care concerning this abscess in your breast. Best wishes...
I know it may sound really strange but I am in so much pain from recurrent abscesses. The abscesses are usually on my leg or in my arm pit and under my breast. I had one in my rectum area too. I had been to the doctors so many times and put on dicloxicillin which seemed to help at the time, yet they still kept on recurring. i don't know what to do.......
I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.

In Nov 2008, I had a swelling below my right breast which was diagnosed as "Abscess". It would ooze out puss with blood and was very painful. After healing,a scar developed around that spot and A FOUL SMELL THAT OF PUS actually emanates from that area(i.e when you touch the area surrounding the scar) What could be happening inside?
It's normal that its that consistency you just have to keep going till its normal again. Also try massaging your breast in the shower. It's what u was told to do when I had a blockage on one side of my breast. My son wouldn't latch onto that side to help move it. It hurt but did work within about 48 hours.

Now, another abcess has appeared on my chest (just close to my left breast nipple) and I am worried whether this will create any serious consequences. Can anyone advise me why this reoccur and whether it is simply a skin disease.
As this is a breast cancer forum, we are not able to discuss breast abcesses in great detail.
I recently got an abscess in my breast drained. The bacteria found was citrobacter koseri which is a a cause of urinary tract infections. I am curious on how I could have gotten that infection in my breast.
About three months ago, I had a breast abscess aspirated and was given antibiotics. It seemed like it started in a cyst. Now the other breast has the same thing starting. Is this unusual for this problem to appear bilaterally? I believe this is also in an area where I had a cyst. Because pus was drained from the previous abscess, can I be sure we are dealing with infection and not IBC? I am 51 years old and perimenopausal. Thank you so much.
I have had 3 bouts of breast infection in 5 years but this time I was sent by the emergency doctor to the breast clinic for a suspected abscess. My right breast was huge hot and swollen. I had bloods done that showed I had elevated white blood cells no fever, but I did have chills and fever that subsided by the time I got the the A&E. I did have tachycardia though. At the clinic I was examined by an oncologist who ordered an ultra sound and mammogram.
/ The other abscess that was thought to have turned hard is actually still an abscess. I strongly suspect the surgeon missed when he tried to aspirate in the office w/o ultrasound. If it were scar tissue it would have not been detected in an ultra sound. According to the radiologist. I'm curious because the previous aspirations did not work is surgery the next step? I'm quite afraid to have a double draining. If surgery is required how long is the healing time, roughly.
Why do I still have pain in my breast abscess wound after my breast abscess incision heals?
I underwent a surgery for breast abscess on my left breast on Nov 1st 2002.My investigations say: Surgery done under GA,Left breast painted and draped .Incision made on the submit of the swelling which was just below the nipple.Thick pus let out.30ml of thick pus present.Pus sent for culture and found OK.Loculations broken down.Wash given usingH2o2, betadine and saline.Roller guaze used and wound packed. I have been going for dressing for the past 1 month.
Hi, I recently as in 5 days ago had a breast abscess surgically removed at the hospital. It was an emergency type situation and was done straight away. Two questions, one, i am a smoker between 8-10 a day and was given no relief from this while in hospital. Upon leaving the doctor came to see me and said i am not to smoke and i replied i havent since being in here. He responsed never again. Will this do me damage if i have a few a day..
I have an abscess under my breast. It has grown in the same spot about 3 or 4 times before. I went to the doctor and she referred me to get an ultrasound to see how far down it went. They determined that it did not go into my breast tissue. The last time i got it the doctor put me on antibiotics which i felt did nothing since it always heals by itself. Anyway, it is growing back again more painful and bigger then before and i just don't know what to do about it anymore.

I recently found a large breast lump which after a mammogram and ultrasound was determined to be a breast abscess. It was asprirated, I was treated with antibotics. I still have breast pain after 4 weeks. I had another ultrasound which indicates 2 cyst in the same area. The cysts are not perfectly round. Should I have a biopsy?
It is leaking pus and milk all the time. My body is still producing milk in the operated breast. Are there any known side effects or long term issues with taking medicines for suppressing lactation?
Hi! I am going thru something called chronic breast abscesses. It started back on 6/12 and as I write this question I have multiple abscesses on my left breast some about to break open other that look like a big bruise and some in my right breast. They're very painful & after 4 surgeries I am very sad to say it seems to get worst every time. My surgeon sent me to an infectious disease doctor, 3 weeks ago but still unable to see her bc of my insurance.
I have recently had a lump in my breast, and i must point out that i arent breastfeeding and i am only 18, it was very sore and very big. my whole boob swelled but there was nothing physical on the skin. the lump hurt and my whole boob felt warm and was about twice as big as the other. i visited my GP who examined it and said it was a abscess inside my boob, and gave me a week antibiotics, 12 tablets a day to try and get rid. i had to go back 3 days later for some pain relief too.
I currently have been dealng with a recurrent subareolar breast abscess. I was first treated with ten days of keflex two times a day, in which it got better but then came back. Next I went to a breast surgeon and she performed incision and drainage and another ten days of keflex. The abscess still would not heal so I had surgery a few days ago in which the surgeon removed the abscess and I thnk some of the infected ducts.
I have what seemed to start out as a pimple in the fatty tissue area of my right breast. It drained like a pimple would, but now seems to be black and blue..with tiny little black spots over the "pimple" area. It's primariy above the surface of the skin, but I can also feel a little "root"/ball underneath. The lump underneath is tiny and moveable. In fact, if I move it around, puss seems to secrete from the "pimple".
Hi, A few year's ago I suffered from a breast abscess in my right breast. This was treated with antibiotics which didn't do the trick and eventually I had it surgically drained 3 or 4 times before it completely healed.
I think of it as a good thing, wanting whatever is in my breast that needs to come out, please get it out. But I did find that every time, in the beginning of my GM, that I got an incision & drainage with my surgeon, another abscess popped up just one week later. I have so many red spots all over my breast, it varies in size and shape. I can't wait for them all to heal and change to a color less noticeable.
My doctor ordered cultures of the fluid to see what grows. Nothing every grows in my case. Yes it is a new abscess that delevoped in the same spot as the abscess that was surgically removed in Dec 2010. My surgeon did tell me it could happen again. So I wasn't to shock that it developed again just bummed out that it happen again. I was very happy when the surgeon did say I wouldn't have to have surgery again. I don't want to have to heal from a open wound again.
