Avatar m tn Hello, If you are having pain in the ischial region, then it is recommended that you get a CT scan or MRI o the area done to confirm the diagnosis. It does not look like an abscess which does not cause deep seated pain but confirmation should be done first. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
Avatar f tn How long has it been since the horse was treated/wormed and which medication was used? There are different meds, some are more effective than others depending on the parasite involved.

Avatar n tn I just had a bartholin abscess surgically removed. I wanted to know when i could have sex again.
Avatar f tn Hello, Ingrown hair or boil also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out through the surface of the skin.
Avatar f tn I had fallen the beginning of last week because I passed out, and I hit a lot of random objects when I fell. The problem is right on my lower back on the top of the illiac crest. I figured I hurt a muscle, right after the fall that area got extremely hard to the touch, harder then I've ever felt a muscle get. I've had whiplash and things where my muscles are tight, but never like this. This feels like concrete. Touching it only in that area makes me fly through the roof from the pain.
Avatar f tn 4 weeks ago I had what felt like an abscess in my rectum. After a few days I went to the toilet and passed out a bit of blood and what looked like an abscess. I went to the doctors the next day and he said that the bleeding looks like it's coming from further up and not near my rectum. After that I had a day of passing small amounts of blood and after that bowel movements were normal, no blood or diarhhea just a bit of mucus.
Avatar f tn ( my incisional wound is still healing after two months sighs this is so frustrating.
Avatar f tn I have a recurring abscess on my right breast for almost 2 years now. I remember that I have a "white head/black head" on my chest so I picked it and removed it and I think it's where it all started. The abscess I got on the first spot on my breast lasted for 9 months (I had maybe 4 recurrence) but it healed on its own without taking any antibiotics or creams.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the info. Do I risk horrible health consequences if an abscess develops during those six weeks? Most recent x-ray taken today didn't show signs of an abscess - how fast does such an abscess usually take to develop?
Avatar f tn Hello, You are correct because it can be a cyst or abscess in the perineal area. It does not look like Bartholin’s abscess. There are glands in the vaginal lips called Bartholin’s glands. These can become painful and swollen, and an abscess can form but they present on the vagina and not the groin. She needs incision and drainage and a course of oral antibiotics as soon as possible.
Avatar m tn Hello, You have not mentioned your age but in premenopausal women, it is usually due to ovarian cysts, ectopic (tubal) pregnancies, benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous) tumors, endometriomas, polycystic ovaries, and tubo-ovarian abscess. In post menopausal women, it may be caused by cancer, fibroids, fibromas, diverticular abscess. Get it checked from a gynecologist to get further investigated to determine the cause.

In a dental abscess, or tooth abscess there is accumulation of pus inside the teeth or gums. The abscess usually originates from a bacterial infection and is mostly caused by a dental infection.
Avatar f tn Pain in abdomen can be serious and needs urgent medical attention. Some of the common causes of pain in abdomen are hepatitis or hepatic abscess, cholecystitis, perforated duodenal ulcers, appendicitis, diverticulitis, adenitis, abdominal abscess or hematoma, inflammatory bowel disease etc. You must consult a gastroenterologist as soon as possible for proper examination with tests like ultrasound, blood tests, biochemical tests etc.
Avatar m tn I normally would not second guess a doctors opinion but here in Poland doctors are famous for wrong diagnosis so I am not sure if I am nervous over nothing or have reason to question his diagnosis. Everything I have read about a perianal abscess indicates it should be drained as quickly as possible and that Antibiotics are ineffective. What else could it be if it is not an abscess? My questions are 1) if you have enough information to suggest what my problem might be?
Avatar f tn You should consult a surgeon for a proper diagnosis and treatment. The diagnosis is through physical findings. Sometimes a needle biopsy or an X-ray, ultrasound, CT or MRI may be done to confirm the diagnosis or rule out any malignant changes. The therapy depends on the location and diagnosis of the swelling. Most of these are small subcutaneous in location and are removed for cosmetic reasons. The treatment is incision and drainage followed by a course of antibiotics.
Avatar n tn But the main one that is concerning me now is one that I recently noticed on his bottom jaw - on the bone it seems. I checked his teeth, they are fine, no abscess that I can see. He eats like a horse and plays as usual. I have him on Blue Wilderness Salmon Recipe dog food. Should I be concerned and take him to the vet?
1399266 tn?1280637104 My 8 year old cat, Kupid was diagnosed with a dental abscess about a week ago and put on clindamycin 1 ml twice a day. When she started she had a pink drainage coming from her right eye and right nostril. Her eye has gotten better and her nose has slightly improved. She is still sneezing and looks terrible but she is eating on her own. This cat has failed the pre anesthesia test twice after having complications during her spay surgery so we are reluctant to put her under to pull her tooth.
