ve had a tooth abscess which I found to be possibly due to a weakened immune system. I was given some antibiotics and shortly got thrush. I looked it up and found that thrush could've been caused by the antibiotic, but of course I first read that it was also possible that this was also one of the symptoms during initial exposure to HIV (including link below).

If it is arteritic then large doses of oral cortison are needed to get the sed rate down. The section on emedicine is especially good.
If its non-arteritic there is no treatment for the eye problem and visual recovery is usually good. Again emedicine entry is excellent.

Starbursts are not a common symptoms in AZOOR and more suggestive of cataracts, cornea problems, need for glasses or new glasses RX or macular problems.

Look on google or emedicine or search archives of this forum to learn more. See an ophthalmologist to make sure it is not a retinal or vitreous detachment or a transient ischemic attack.
You might also do some online research to better educate yourself about your condition. Emedicine has a good article about CME related to macular puckers (aka epiretinal membranes.) Their suggested treatment for the CME invovlves peeling the pucker.
Although the antibiotics may kill the bacteria that is causing the abscess, if the core of the abscess does not come to the surface or is not removed by the doctor or the nurse, the abscess will continue to fester.
Apply a hot compress to draw the abscess to the surface. If there is no broken skin on the abscess, you can purchase magnesium sulphate from the pharmacy and apply this to the abscess. This is a drawing ointment and can only be used on unbroken skin.
While I was on interferon therapy and my resistance was low, I developed an abscess on my buttock that was drained and healed. Hi i started with really bad tooth pain and went to the emergency dentist who said its infected and got an abscess. They give me amoxicillin 500mg i started them yesterday teatime then last night my face started to swell up on the right side where the bad tooth is never had this before. In Nov 2008, I had a swelling below my right breast which was diagnosed as "Abscess". It would ooze out puss with blood and was very painful. After healing,a scar developed around that spot and A FOUL SMELL THAT OF PUS actually emanates from that area(i.e when you touch the area surrounding the scar)
