abscess

Avatar f tn I would have the doc look at it in case there is infection inside. If the strength of the site is compromised a wound can be pulled apart even much later. I once had an abdominal incision abscess and it nearly turned into gangrene. I'd call the doc at least, and if the drainage is not clear but like pus and/or has a bad odor, I would treat it with urgency.
Avatar m tn Hello, You should take the prescribed antibiotics as if the bump is getting smaller, then probably it is healing. If the symptoms persist or worsen then you may need incision and drainage for which you should consult a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar m tn So about 3 weeks ago I had my perianal abscess drained and the healing process went quite well until about 1 week after the drainage small spots started to appear around my anus and near where the abscess was. My doctor prescribed me with a 1 week course of antibiotics which seemed to clear them up. However, more spots have started to appear but more itchy and painful and also when they burst the pain seems to ease. So are these spots anything to worry about?
Avatar n tn Hello, This persistent abscess that does not get cleared with antibiotics is called Parulis as this elevated nodule is actually an opening of fistulous tract from some chronic abscess either in association with tooth (periapical abscess) or gum abscess or could be sinus in your case. As I can not do physical exam hence can not say for sure about the origin of the abscess. It needs x-ray and second opinion of a dentist who can examine.
Avatar f tn I am wondering the same, but seems like it can take months to completely heal. My abscess burst last Saturday and although it been less than a week I'm looking forward to when it heals. I'd also like to know how to tell if te abscess is healing correctly. Mine doesn't really drain puss nor blood anymore even since it burst, but looks aweful. I don't have any pain but just looking at the wound makes me cringe.
Avatar n tn Is it still an abscess if I feel no pain but there was drainage? I was prescribed penicillin but it only reduced the swelling, without stopping the drainage.
Avatar f tn I decided to go with healing naturally and started that journey in mid-April. Since around that time I have not had any imaging done (ultrasounds). For those of you who are also taking a natural approach, how often do you get new ultrasounds done, maybe just to check up on your mass? And for those who are taking meds, how often have you got imaging done? For me, it's been about almost 5 months and I'm wondering if I should just check up on it.
Avatar m tn ll be much better informed regarding drainage, healing, and especially when you can go back to work since your job is physically demanding. Wishing you all the best and prompt recovery.
Avatar m tn I have been having problems with a cyst or abscess that was what I am going to call dormant for a long time. I had it checked by a dermatologist he said since it was in the muscle part of my back he would not recommend to have it cut out...Now its inflamed went to a clinic they said to just heat compress it then wet to my PCP who game me SULFA and some pain killers told me also to heat compress it...now it is no longer HOT it was a HOT spot but now it looks PURPLE.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am pretty sure I am getting an abscess. I went to see my doc last week and he did an ultra scan and did not see any fluid behind the redness and slight lump. It is also not very painful, however, there is definitely a red lump and the skin is peeling on it. Underneath the skin it looks slightly white ish. What do you think? Do you think I need to back to my docs? Is there anything I can do to help it?
Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
Avatar m tn when there is no discharge from the abscess or if your gauze is not soiled,it menas a proper healing is taking place. These while crumbs can be due to drying of the topical medicine that you are applying while packing.Had it been pus, then it would not have dried and the gauze would have been soiled. Are you applying any topical antibiotic for the packing? If there is any associated wound drainage even of pus or any fevr or redness, then pls get it evaluated from your doctor. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn There was significant anastomotic leak/repeat pre-sacral abscess/multiple drain attempts and now with 5th try of enteral stents trying to keep peri-rectal area open for drainage. Have 2nd diverting ileostomy now. LAR was performed in 2005. Unfortunately have had persistent low sacral pain/perineal pain thought secondary to the prolonged inflammation/interventions/fibrosis and maybe radiation related, too. Transvaginal u/s now shows cyst on left ovary. My last period was in 2005.
Avatar m tn Presently, the various methods used are incision and drainage, excision and healing by secondary intention, excision and primary closure and excision with reconstructive flap techniques.Pls discuss these options with your doctor. Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or in case you have additional queries. Kind regards.
Avatar n tn Over a month ago, an abscess formed on the back of my thigh (midway between bottom of buttock and top of knee). I was on vacation and delayed medical care. Finally it became huge and I went to ER where it was lanced and packed and I was given Bactrim and Cipro for 5 days. I used compresses on it. The culture came back (days later) as strep. After another 10 days, it reddened again and seemed a bit bumpy. I was put on 10 days of Clindmycin. Just completed that course.
Avatar f tn On Thursday I'm going to get the pus drainage with fine needle. Last time it was very painful even 2 times local anesthesia did not worked for me. Doctor said this happened due to inflammation. Anybody have any idea how to manage the pain. Should I take pain killers before getting it done and which one should I take? Also is it true that if we keep getting drainage done the pus will keep coming back so should we not get it done? Please share your experiences. Thanks all!!
Avatar m tn After 4 weeks , one day it suddenly started leaking i mean the pus from the abscess and we got it drained and cleaned . He was given 4 more days of antibiotics on the day of drainage , moxclav and fusidin cream to apply in the area for 10 days and to keep the area clean. The place of the abscess is flat now and little redness around the whole from where it was drained . When i asked my child he said it is not paining .
Avatar n tn I get a gross taste when I yawn almost feels like pus draining throught my 2nd to last upper molar on the right side of my mouth. I have had all my teeth checked by a dentist and no abscess has been found, or anything else that would explain the drainage. I have been seeing a lot of doctors recently, none of which seem to help me out with anything. I get some dizziness, and pressure in the ears sometimes as well. I also have what feels like swelling on my hard palate.
592047 tn?1243385987 Swelling causes pain in abscesses so keeping the pain down to a minimum will help. The healing abscess should be much less painful after 5 days or so. Just keep pampering her, giving her the antibiotics, and soaking the paw. Once the kittens are weaned (if they are normal, hopefully) please have your cat spayed/desexed!
Avatar n tn Yesterday my husband, aged 54yrs had drainage of an abscess? diagnosed following ct scan for a lump between anus and scotum which tripled in size over the previous week. Has been in pain since the May 08 followup colonoscopy which led to bleeding for 2 days, and then a month of ++ bleeding in September. Severe pain - on Tramal twice per day plus paracetamol 4 x day.
2216535 tn?1339408893 The animal will need to be seen by a vet and it will most likely require surgical drainage of the abscess and antibiotics to fix the problem. Inflammatory swellings and scar tissue thickenings: When a pet has a spay surgery (any surgery really), a lot of trauma is done to the tissues in the surgical site (after all, they have just been cut into). Such surgical trauma sets up a massive healing response by the body.
Avatar n tn The hole is a drainage hole for the infected material (blood, pus) that collects in a sort of pocket. The water was cloudy most likely because there is at least one more drainage hole on the inside of your cat's mouth that the stuff has been leaking out of. These kind of abcesses are usually started by a minor, one time injury like a puncture or scratch. Since you are only seeing blood when you clean it, it has already drained.
1670196 tn?1306841245 t an abscess it was a hematoma or a seroma (the drainage tube had not drained anything and had caused A LOT of pain). On 5/11 I was discharged saying that the hematoma was 50% smaller than it had been on 5/5 and would probably continue to drain vaginally like it had been and that it should take care of itself within the next month or so.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed about 2 months ago, and so far had one abscess drain. It started out a week ago as a very thin, watery discharge with blood, but has since turned to thicker, cloudier stuff. It has been about a week. I was on a weeks worth of anti biotic (augmentin) which has made me feel so much better...no anxiety, palpitations, night sweats, etc. but I can tell another abscess is developing. How long does the drainage typically last?
Avatar f tn I had an abscess removed a few years ago through surgery/drainage. It has left 2 slight scars that seem to keep getting irritated by my underwear/clothes rubbing against them, and one of them gets irritated during sex (which worried my boyfriend). When they get irritated they bleed a little bit but there's no pain and it heals again, but my question is, what can I do to prevent the scars from getting irritated by my underwear/sex?
