abscess

Avatar f tn Should I take pain killers before getting it done and which one should I take? Also is it true that if we keep getting drainage done the pus will keep coming back so should we not get it done? Please share your experiences. Thanks all!!
Avatar m tn While I was on interferon therapy and my resistance was low, I developed an abscess on my buttock that was drained and healed. For several months now I have had pain that feels deeper in the tissue, possibly in the ischeum. It has never come to a point and there is no drainage that I can detect. I cannot see any external signs of swelling or redness. Have not been feverish recently. Could this be an ischiorectal abscess or possibly pudental nerve pain?
Avatar n tn I get a gross taste when I yawn almost feels like pus draining throught my 2nd to last upper molar on the right side of my mouth. I have had all my teeth checked by a dentist and no abscess has been found, or anything else that would explain the drainage. I have been seeing a lot of doctors recently, none of which seem to help me out with anything. I get some dizziness, and pressure in the ears sometimes as well. I also have what feels like swelling on my hard palate.
1670196 tn?1306841245 t an abscess it was a hematoma or a seroma (the drainage tube had not drained anything and had caused A LOT of pain). On 5/11 I was discharged saying that the hematoma was 50% smaller than it had been on 5/5 and would probably continue to drain vaginally like it had been and that it should take care of itself within the next month or so.
Avatar f tn Please help anyone? 7 wks ago i got an abscess incision and drainage(jus next 2 anus) after being admitted to hospital it literally accured over a 3 day period with antibiotics having no effect, the insision was so small it made the packing of cavity the most painfull ordeal i have ever experienced..
Avatar n tn The hole is a drainage hole for the infected material (blood, pus) that collects in a sort of pocket. The water was cloudy most likely because there is at least one more drainage hole on the inside of your cat's mouth that the stuff has been leaking out of. These kind of abcesses are usually started by a minor, one time injury like a puncture or scratch. Since you are only seeing blood when you clean it, it has already drained.
Avatar f tn Since around that time I have not had any imaging done (ultrasounds). For those of you who are also taking a natural approach, how often do you get new ultrasounds done, maybe just to check up on your mass? And for those who are taking meds, how often have you got imaging done? For me, it's been about almost 5 months and I'm wondering if I should just check up on it.
Avatar f tn If there is an abscess, incision and drainage must be done and the specimen is sent to the pathologist for evaluation. Good luck.
Avatar m tn After 4 weeks , one day it suddenly started leaking i mean the pus from the abscess and we got it drained and cleaned . He was given 4 more days of antibiotics on the day of drainage , moxclav and fusidin cream to apply in the area for 10 days and to keep the area clean. The place of the abscess is flat now and little redness around the whole from where it was drained . When i asked my child he said it is not paining .
Avatar n tn Yesterday my husband, aged 54yrs had drainage of an abscess? diagnosed following ct scan for a lump between anus and scotum which tripled in size over the previous week. Has been in pain since the May 08 followup colonoscopy which led to bleeding for 2 days, and then a month of ++ bleeding in September. Severe pain - on Tramal twice per day plus paracetamol 4 x day.
Avatar f tn But if the infection keeps coming back after incision and drainage, a wide excision of the infected area may help. Has your doctor done that and made a culture of the infecting organism? If not, it should be done so that a proper antibiotic treatment can be focused on the offending organism. It is also possible that your infection keeps coming back because you have some other illness which could affect your immune system such as diabetes.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed about 2 months ago, and so far had one abscess drain. It started out a week ago as a very thin, watery discharge with blood, but has since turned to thicker, cloudier stuff. It has been about a week. I was on a weeks worth of anti biotic (augmentin) which has made me feel so much better...no anxiety, palpitations, night sweats, etc. but I can tell another abscess is developing. How long does the drainage typically last?
Avatar n tn Is it still an abscess if I feel no pain but there was drainage? I was prescribed penicillin but it only reduced the swelling, without stopping the drainage.
Avatar f tn I had a urodynamics test done just befor the new year. My test was done mid morning and by that afternoon was starting to feel as though I might be getting a uti/bladder infection. No burning or stinging just felt like I needed to wee more. The next day I saw blood in my urine. The following day there were massive clots and large amounts of tissue. This continued for about 6/7 weeks.
Avatar f tn Apply warm compresses on the bump and keep the area clean. Drainage is done only when it becomes soft and forms a head. Give some over the counter pain reliever and consult a doctor for examination and antibiotics prescription. Incision and drainage may also be required. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am pretty sure I am getting an abscess. I went to see my doc last week and he did an ultra scan and did not see any fluid behind the redness and slight lump. It is also not very painful, however, there is definitely a red lump and the skin is peeling on it. Underneath the skin it looks slightly white ish. What do you think? Do you think I need to back to my docs? Is there anything I can do to help it?

Avatar n tn Hello, This persistent abscess that does not get cleared with antibiotics is called Parulis as this elevated nodule is actually an opening of fistulous tract from some chronic abscess either in association with tooth (periapical abscess) or gum abscess or could be sinus in your case. As I can not do physical exam hence can not say for sure about the origin of the abscess. It needs x-ray and second opinion of a dentist who can examine.
Avatar m tn So about 3 weeks ago I had my perianal abscess drained and the healing process went quite well until about 1 week after the drainage small spots started to appear around my anus and near where the abscess was. My doctor prescribed me with a 1 week course of antibiotics which seemed to clear them up. However, more spots have started to appear but more itchy and painful and also when they burst the pain seems to ease. So are these spots anything to worry about?

Take some over the counter pain reliever and consult a doctor for examination and antibiotics prescription. Till that time, you can apply Mupirocin or Neosporin on the sore. Also wear cotton clothes and use a mild soap like Dove. Avatar n tn s because the infection is trapped beneath the tooth and there is no ready access for drainage, unless a hole is surgically placed to allow drainage. Sometimes the abscess is so severe that it creates it's own hole by bursting through the skin of the face to facilitate the bodies ability to remove the infection. Your vet is probably correct in wanting to extract the tooth.
Avatar f tn I think it will be an abscess soon..have you ever had that? I wonder how it will drain by itself....I mean on what part of the skin.... Thanks!
Avatar n tn Wondering if anyone can help me please, I've had an abscess above my tooth now for the past 2 days and I've been to the doctor today and he's put me on a course of antibiotics called ERYTHROPED A. I'm also taking Codeen to help ease the pain. The antibiotics don't seem to be doing anything at the moment, I began taking them around 6pm today when I got in from the doctor. I have two questions: Will my tooth have to be removed and how long does an Abscess usually last for?
Avatar n tn If one of these glands become blocked, an abscess—an infected cavity—may form. An anal abscess is usually treated by surgical drainage, although some drain spontaneously. About 50% of these abscesses may develop into a fistula, in which a small tunnel connects the infected gland inside the anus to an opening on the skin around the anus.
