Abscess drainage color

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess drainage color

abscess

I agree, don't be terrified. It actually feels better once it gets out. I had one abscess I could feel it rupturing while I was at work, and I'm a cashier at a grocery store, so I couldn't run anywhere and hide. That one hurt but now, the pain is minimal when they open. I've been waiting for a couple weeks for one of my abscesses to open so it can drain out and heal up. I think of it as a good thing, wanting whatever is in my breast that needs to come out, please get it out.
I just had an abscess open and it is draining red blood primarily. Is this normal? Should I put a call into my breast surgeon to be on the safe side? My regular abscesses are the regular pus with blood mixed in at times, but never just blood. Can anyone help?
Having no idea what was wrong I went to the doctors and was put on amoxcillin (they weren't sure what was wrong as the abscess isn't visible, it is really high up under my lip and quite large). Some of my swelling has gone down since and the pain has completely stopped, although obviously the abscess still causes discomfort because of the pressure, does this mean my front tooth has died? It has changed in colour, it's now slightly greyish.
It is quite painful and even is a dark color in two places... I'm terrified that it's a blood blister or something... I don't know what to do! When I push on it it feels like there is some type of liquid inside. Whether it is pus or blood or just liquid I really don't know. But the dark purpleish/black color to one side of it is really scaring me. I don't have health insurance and I'm really low on money... I really want to try to take care of this myself. PLEASE help. I am really terrified.
Treatment is usually cold compresses, over the counter anti-inflammatory analgesics(pain killers) like acetaminophen or ibuprofen, antibiotics if cause of infection is suspected to be a bacteria and surgical drainage if there is any abscess formation. Sebaceous cyst is a closed sac or cyst below the surface of the skin and fills with a fatty white, semi-solid material called sebum produced by sebaceous glands of the epidermis. It is usually painless but can become painful if infected.
Some areas have become a pale nasty color. The inner walls of my thighs have become swollen, making it very difficult to walk without pain. Also the entire area sweats a nasty slime that stinks and leaves my underwear wet. I wash everyday. im 22 yrs old. never had sex. No major medical conditions.

Maybe just a bad boil, but possibly an infected pilonidal sinus (a minor congenital anomaly, but one that can get infected) or a perianal abscess. See a health care provider right away; you probably need antibiotics and perhaps incision and drainage.
I had 100 ml of fluid taking out of my lungs. the color was brown. The Doc can not get a good biopsy because of the the med. I have been on. I have been on several. Can pneumonia be that horrible? I have not been smoking . I am finally feling better but I can still feel the opacity. I have had a ct scan and four x rays. So I guess what I am trying to ask is should I be worried.
If the fluid that is coming out turns a funny color or you start to get an abscess you should see your dr. Just make sure you are following the instructions that the piercing shop gave you and you should be fine.
My name is Tony Harris. I have recently had my gal bladder removed by laparoscopic surgery. I came home only two days after the surgery and was feeling good. About a week later, I began to feel excruciating pain in my shoulders and abdomen. Late in the evening, the pain was unbearable and I was taken to the ER by ambulance. There they diagnosed me with an abscess 13 by 6 inches that had formed from a small cut on my liver.
it was watery and built up between her ear and the pin behind the earring, but tonight I saw an abscess! =( I don't think it hurts or anything, she doesn't pull on it or grab it... only when i was trying to look at it... so I put that saline solution (antiseptic) that they gave me when they did the piercing to cleanse it. Should I call the doctor???? should I put some antibiotic ointment on it?? i mean, i know you can't use just anything on a baby....
The most common causes are bacterial or fungal infections which enters the skin around the nail that has been damaged by trauma, such as nail biting, finger sucking, dishwashing, or chemical irritants. The yellow-green color, indicates that a collection of pus has formed under the skin (called an abscess). If this is the case it may require an incision and drainage. Warm soaks in a mixture of 50% warm water and 50% liquid antibacterial soap 3-4 times daily for about 15 minutes.

I have had a Mamo , MRI , core Biospy and cancer has not shown up .no change after 2-3 months of kelflex and Avelox .
Welcome! my first abscess started 3 months after GM was diagnosed...and I had the same as you have just red patch. One day it decided to explode and that was it! I went to the doctor so they can take a look and sent the fluid to the Lab and check for Bacterias...obviously the study came back sterile. Then I had my second abscess, went to doctor and he drained it with needle aspiration...then another one and another one..
Anal abscess is an infected cavity filled with pus found near the anus or rectum. Pus drains out if the skin over the abscess breaks. An abscess usually results from an acute infection of a small gland just inside the anus. An anal fistula, on the other hand, usually results from a previous abscess. It is a small tunnel connecting the anal gland from which the abscess arose to the skin outside the anus.
when the penis is erect the vein stretches out and not visible. the vein is the color of my skin and does not have any pain. at times there tends to be irritation after ejaculation, but not always. could this be due to overgrowth of yeast causing my pain or damage inside the urethra due to the initial infection. i would like some answers or ideas at least ball park figures.

My stools have also been a reddish brown color regularly for a very long time(never the regular darker brown that is normal) I'm so scared that i'm dying or that there is something possibly seriously wrong. I was just recently diagnosed with Diverticulosis as well following the CT scan.So i've been wondering is it true that cysts on the liver are pretty common and usually benign? Could gastritis be the cause of all of the pain?
There is still a small whole under my top lip above the left tooth, where the drainage occurred... even still today- 20yrs later. And on occassion (even now), when my sinuses act up and become real bad- or when I blow my nose- drainage will still drain through there. But I NEVER had that problem again. In December of 2007, I had natural-looking caps placed over these teeth due to the color changing of the teeth.
One other possibility might be that the apical abscess in the alveolar bone is flaring up with no path of exit since the root canal was completed. In the presence of a lot of draining pus in the root canal system, sometimes antibiotics or a delay in finishing to allow drainage is a good idea. As is it now, hopefully someone can see you to determine whether antibiotics or a retreatment might be in order.
Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the lump; though this looks less like a acne and more like an abscess with possible bleeding in the cavity or a growth from the skin or underlying tissue. It may require drainage/ excision/ systemic antibiotics. It would be best to get this evaluated by a primary care physician or a dermatologist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
It is the color of my skin and only hurts if pressure is applied. There appears to be a pea sized or maybe a little bigger bump under the skin that you can move. It has been staying about the same however tonight I noticed the bump under the skin may have gotton more bean shaped. Well tonight I think I figured it out on google.. a Bartholin gland cyst. I know it said irritation could cause it but I'm a little concerned about another abscess too then.
I FINALLY WENT TO A DIFFERENT DOCTOR AND HE ALSO THOUGHT IT WAS AN ABSCESS BUT WHEN HE ASPIRATED IT LIQUID CAME OUT A DIFFERENT COLOR THAN HE EXPECTED. TURNS OUT I HAD A SOFTBALL SIZED CYST IN MY BREAST. SINCE I COULDNT AFFORD TO GET IT REMOVED SO HE INSERTED A DRAINAGE TUBE IN MY BREAST TO KEEP IT DRAINED SO NOW I HAVE TO WHERE IT 24/7. SO NOW I STILL HAVE THE TUBE AND I CANT GET IT REMOVED TIL I CAN COME UP WITH 3 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO GET THE CYST SURGICALLY REMOVED.
I applied it 2x daily for the last few months and it has reduced to the original size and is starting to fade in color. At this point, several months later, the Gold Bond has made it very dry and VERY itchy. For the last month or so, I'm mixing anti-itch cream with it because it itches HORRIBLY. I can't stand it! It seems to me that it's getting better, but this has been going on for months.
I'm almost certain what i had was a Boil, or an abscess/cyst. I let it run its coarse. thank god its healing itself. an overview. -starts as a small lump no color -grows withing a week no pain -starts turning red week 2 -pain week3 -gets a lot bigger. size of a golf ball week 3. as a visual tape a golf ball to your neck and paint it red, that's what i looked like... work was excruciating.
