Avatar f tn Potential complications following open heart surgery include wound infections of the sternum including dehiscence, abscess formations, and ostemyelitis (infection of the surrounding bone). Patients with concurrent immunosupressive co-morbidities (diabetes, cancer, chronic steroid therapy) are at higher risk for these types of complications.
Avatar m tn Hi, My Labrador Retriever undergo surgery last July 2, 2011 but died after couple of hours with cardiac arrest..She was about 9years old, healthy in body (maybe obese).. then one time we found out that she have abscess in one of her nipples.. then as time passes by it grow bigger and bigger. She gave birth thrice but the litter didn't survive at least three weeks old. I tough that it is because the litter zipped in the abscess nipple so they got poisoned, something like that..

Avatar m tn For the last 4 months or so Ive had a thickening of the skin over my right axillae. I has a huge abscess in the area which resolved spontaneously after antibiotics. Avatar f tn I had an ER abscess operation over a week ago. I was RX'd 30 Percoset 10/325, and it helped for the first few days. I was feeling better, but still taking them for the small amount of pain I was having near the drainage site. I decided to cut them in half and wean off slowly, because I was afraid of that even within a week I would have withdrawal symptoms. I had my last one last night, and decided to flush the 1 and several halves I had left. I feel awful!
702286 tn?1239011660 If you have an active marble sized abscess at your ankle from missing a vein with an unsterile solution you will want to see a real doctor...............this is not the time to self medicate...........
Avatar m tn The nerve and pulp of the tooth are removed, and the interior is cleaned and sealed during a root canal operation. Without treatment, the tissue around the tooth may get infected, resulting in an abscess.
Avatar n tn m 41yrs old, in reasonable fitness and health but have been diagnosed with a ruptured appendix and have had a drain/antibiotic therapy to clear up the infection and abscess. The appendix will be taken out in 4 weeks' time. What range of physical activity should I carry out in the interval? Would there be a risk of causing damage by lifting, bending, moderate gym exercise etc ? Thanks..
Avatar f tn I went home the next day, then returned to the hospital 3 days later with severe abdominal pain and fever. I was diagnosed with a pelvic abscess and severe infection. After a week in the hospital, I was sent home with a picc-line in my arm and a drainage tube for the abscess. I have been taking antibiotics vancomycin and Invanz daily through infusion. I have been home 10 days and the drainage is now cloudy light pink as opposed to the dark pink with clumps while I was in the hospital.
Avatar m tn Normally cats recover quickly after the operation, and are back to normal activities and routine the next day. Any swelling or redness is a sign that she’s not healing properly, call the vet immediately.. They are most unlikely to happen. Please keep us posted.
Avatar n tn The syndrome can develop as a complication of surgery on your sternum, months to years after the operation. However, the cause is usually unknown. It could be the breast bone has not completely heeled and has been aggravated from time to time and now causing the pain. Seems unlikely after so many years, but it is possible. Tietze syndrome usually affects the bone-cartilage junctions of the second and third ribs. The swelling may last for several months.
Avatar m tn 5cm size collection seen in right psoas abscess. At before test of MRI at operation time it was found aaprox 11.0*4.5*5.0 cm size of psoas abscess was noted. Now, after examining the latest report Dr pant said that there is not possible to take out the psoas abscess and he too concluded that this abscess will be eliminated by the tb drugs. and TB consultant has provided me two types of tb drugs 1. Ethambutol 1200 mg and 2. Isoniazid 300 mg and rifampicin 300mg .
Avatar m tn s when I can really feel my lymph node throb. For a while I had an abscess at the extraction site, but that was drained and no reason was given as to why it was there. I had two x-rays done and both show that there's nothing trapped in my gum (could there possibly be something that's too small to detect?). I don't believe my lymph node was swollen before the operation. I'm desperate for answers because everyone says I'm fine but I don't feel fine!
1102211 tn?1430686801 Two months later I got a breast abscess, then hormones all over the place followed by having to have a hysteroscopy, removal of the coil and a full abdominal ablation. A week after my operation I found a large breast lump which has now been diagnosed as GM. Is there a hormonal link does anyone know?? Rhuematology has ruled out any findings?
Avatar n tn The vet was surprised but gave us antibiotics, pain meds and anti inflams for her. After the meds, she still had the swelling and it was draining again from her mouth (at times if it got really big it would drain clear fluid but it was majority of the time it was blood). The vet gave her a dose of strong antibiotics for 1 week to see if it helped as he thought that the abscess caused a pocket of inection, it didn't so we brought her back in to open her cheek and remove any infection.
Avatar n tn Just had my third surgery due to abscess about a month and a half ago, and for the past few weeks have had this strange pain. Any pain that seems to be in the area of the rectum, makes me leary of abscesses, but this is different. The pain is in the left gluteus, into the bend of my hip, as well as the rectum. Seems that sitting worsens things, and I have been trying to sit/lie to my right to accomodate, but the pain never entirely goes away.
Avatar f tn This is all just SO wrong. I mean, far be it from me to contradict a physician who has given up so many years in study to be of help to our world.
Avatar n tn I started on keflex and scheduled a root canal ASAP. After the root canal and finishing the keflex the abscess was still there. My endontist downplayed it like it's no big deal but he drained the abcess and put me on clymdamycin. Finished all the clymdamycin and the abscess is still there. Endontist says it could take months to heal and sent me on my way. I feel like I need a second opinion. I still have a pea sized abscess on my gums idk what to do.
