Abilify with vyvanse

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify with vyvanse

abilify

i don't take the xanax a lot since i started the vyvanse, it really helped with my anxiety. if your doctor prescribed them together he/she must think the combination of the two is o.k. but you need to ask your doctor. i also take lortab, soma, prozac, abilify and other meds with no problems but just make your doctor aware of all your meds. i'm on 50mg of vyvanse and don't have near the anxiety attacks i had before.
She was started out on Vyvanse 30 mg then increased to 40 mg. We did not see any improvement with her symptoms, although she lost 10 pounds in 6 weeks and she was already thin. We switched to Adderal XR 20 mg, and have gone to up 25 mg, still no results. Anyone have any advice?
I have always suffered from major depression and a mood disorder even though they don't come out and say it's bipolar, they treat is as such and it's helped. I've been on Abilify for a year now and I was doing so well but now I'm tired all the time, have no motivation, and feel overall blah! I see my pdoc next week and I wonder if I need a new mood stabelizer or a higher dose of Abilify. I'm even on Vyvanse for a "touch" of ADD and I still have no energy (Vyvanse is a stimulant).
I have just been recently diagnosed with adult onset ADHD,I was prescribed 5mb abilify and 50mg Vyvanse. I was so glad to read your article on vyvanse because I was sooo scared to take it til today when I started. I needed the meds but didnt want my appetite suppressed like my son gets when he is taking focalin. What do you think about an 11yr old taking it? Also would it help with my son's suppressed appetite he has with focalin? Please help!
The therapist we work with has mentioned some mood disorders as well. We tried Abilify for awhile, which had increased his appetite and he has gained 25 pounds in 3 months. We took him off this medicine because of the appetite issues, as well as not seeing a big difference. Since he has been off these meds his irritability has increased and the therapist has mentioned Borderline Personality Disorder.
I would love to know any info about VYVANSE before taking it. Are there any serious side affects to be aware of? I was just diagnosed with ADHD in the last two years and finally got some prescription drugs for the problem. Please respond asap since I am starting the meds tomorrow(another is ABILIFY,that I will also be starting tomorrow.
Well, my son is almost 7 and was diagnosed a few months ago with Autism, ADHD, ODD, severe anxiety, and a possible mood disorder. He is high functioning and hit all his milestones on time and that's why it took a long time to get diagnosed. We have tried Staterra, Vyvanse, Adderall, Concerta, Tenex, Zyprexa, Abilify, and Clonidine, and they all seemed to increase his anxiety and anger. The Zprexa and Abilify gave him weird scary dreams and wasn't helping his anger.
we have tried several meds. currently he is on 50 mg of vyvanse, 40 mg of citalopram and 2mg of abilify a day. his behavior is beyond horrible. should i just take him off meds?
wELL I NOW ADDED ABILIFY 2 MY LIST!
I feel like this until an hour after I take my Vyvanse because that's how long it takes to take effect. When I feel the effect after an hour, I begin to focus, feel energetic, and just happy about life. I begin to think about all of the things I have never been able to do due to my lack of energy and concentration and am ready to get all of them done. I also want to learn everything I can. It is full force for about an hour and a half.
he takes 25 mg straterra in the am and 2.5 mg of abilify in the evening with the 25 mg of Zoloft. Please if anyone has any thoughts, info, techniques, that could help us please let me know. I'm feeling overwhelmed and scared for him.
I think it is really important to have the plan written by someone with significant experience in using applied behavior analysis with children with autism (you can search for board certified behavior analysts in your region at www.bacb.com). It is really crucial that the behavior intervention plan matches the reason your son is acting out. For example, some children act out when they are given difficult wotrk to do.
Currently, she is on 20 mg of Abilify and 50mg of Vyvanse. While she is having a difficult time, I have become concerned that our doctor is quick to medicate at higher doses. Specifically, I am worried about the high dose of Abilify. Are there other strategies/medications/etc. that may be a better fit for us? Help?
When I walk away, he gets angry, b/c he doesn't get to get the high he gets when I argues and fight with him. It's like a nightmare from hell! My son is now taking abilify (5mg) 3 times per day to help control his mood. He took Strattera for years, b/c the stimulants made him manic. The strattera was not working...even the max dosage, so he is now on vyvanse. I think it helps with his focus, but he is still very argumentative, particularly at home.
While your son's ADHD treatment (with Vyvanse and Strattera) may well be adequate to address his symptoms, it is clear that his mood-related symptoms need more attention. Talk with his prescribing doctor about addressing the mood symptoms more vigorously. Since he is already taking Abilify, one option would be to increase the dose. But there are many options. It sounds like that should be the major focus of intervention.
Hi. My 8 year old son has Autism and adhd. He is taking Vyvanse for his adhd and has just got started in occupational therapy and sees a psychologist monthly. When they evaluated him fot ot they said he has the mental capacity of a 4 to 5 year old and the psychologist is going to put him on a mood stabalizer either abilify or resperdil when he goes back to see her.
He has been struggling for 6 years to get stable. The main problem is his ADD!. He currently takes Abilify, Lamitcal and Vyvanse. The Vyvanse was working well for the first 3 years at 30 mg. but has had to increase it through the years to 70mg. Now the dr. will not let him go to a higher dose because that is the max and he does not want the liability if something happened. My son now cannot stay awake through the day.
Dextrosmphetamine 10mg, Vyvanse 70mg, and Zoloft 50mg in the AM and then Abilify 5mg at night. He is a very quiet child and I worry with taking all these meds he's anger issues will get worse. The doctor says he has both long term and short term memory loss and anxiety. I don't believe either. He can recall things both old and new just fine.
Has anyone tried Abilify in combination with anything else and had success? Or not? What cheers you up when you're really, really down? When I'm down, I'm down. There's no getting me up - I just lay in bed feeling blah, which is of course, natural. But still, things used to cheer me up. Smelling just finished, warm laundry, visiting the animal shelter ... I even try opening the blinds to let some sunshine in (if it's sunny) but sometimes it is pointless.
It wasn't always like this, this happened when i was on prozac a few months back and i am now on welbutrin + abilify + Vyvanse. This really *****, any help or ideas on fixing this?
i take 1mg xanax (allowed 2 per day) but don't take them everyday, also abilify (for mania) and vyvanse (for adhd) among a host of pain killers, muscle relaxers, and other things like acid reflux med. the vyvanse helped tremendously with my anxiety! but if you don't have adhd then it wouldn't help, only hurt. my anxiety comes in cycles, maybe you're just having a cycle but you need to call your psych doc immediately for help!
i think i need cymbalta to help with the pain or something else. the abilify doesn't work good enough either. i'm just so afraid to stop taking my prozac for fear of a major depression. the prozac does help some but not enough. i don't know what to do. i think i will have to change psychiatrists but the anxiety is just overwhelming because of having to drive so far and what if that shrink doesn't work out, then i have to find another one! should i interview them first?
The psychiatrist wants to put him on abilify to help with the ODD. I said we would wait one month so see how the Vyvanse is working. It is hard to tell. He is still defiant and manipulative. Has anyone been on this combination of drugs and how has it worked for you? Thank you.
i also have adhd that i take vyvanse 50mg for and that helped with my anxiety a great deal. i take abilify 30mg for mania, i am also bipolar along with the adhd and anxiety. anyway, it sounds like you aren't really being treated for your anxiety, talk to your psychiatrist asap and explain the situation. you could talk to a psychologist or therapist to get things off your chest and maybe for some suggestions on how to better manage your condition.
I am on welbutrin 300mg a day, abilify 5mg, and Vyvanse now 50mg. I actually remember a time last year where i was sick during spring break. The thing is, I don't get sick often. Never had the Flu, never had the shot either. The only time I get sick (throwing up) is when i eat something bad. The odd thing I notice now is last year when I was sick, i was just put on Welbutrin. However, my symptoms include: Weakness, Dizziness, And a feeling you get before you get really sick and throw up.
Abilify is an antipsychotic with mood stabilizer properties and Zyprexa more so but I found it to be very sedating and Abilify not to be but each person's experiences varies. Learn more about your treatment is the best advice I can give you for now. Then you can speak to your psychiatrist more.
I currently take Prozac, Lithium (ER), and Vyvanse each 1x a day. I also get an injection of Depo-Provera once every 3 months. I also have an Rx for Xanex, which is to be taken as needed, but I have not taken it in months. I also often self-medicate with caffine pills - I took two 200mg caffine pills yesterday around 5pm. I also took some Aleve at that time, as I have been having eye pain and headaches for the last two weeks and I was hoping to aleviate that pain.
He's been on numerous medications to control the mood disorder (more difiant than anything) and ADHD. He is currently taking Abilify and Vyvanse. We have good days and bad. He's always been kind of afraid to be alone, particularly at night. Sometimes he wants to sleep with me (divorced Mom), but I tell him he's too old to sleep with his mama. The other night while walking him to his room to go to bed, he said, 'I keep seeing all these people". I asked, "these what?".
I take ADD meds along with Abilify and Seroquel at night. I'm currently on Vyvanse because my focus and concentration were out of control. I couldn't stay on one topic for more than a few minutes if I tried. This new drug has helped. I have cleaned up my desk and gotten some issues that I put off resolved. I love Vyvanse and you only take it once a day. I think you will see great changes once she's got her meds straight. It's just a matter of finding the right one.
I take neurontin, cymbalta, abilify, vyvanse and sometimes vistral in the morning, and continue to take 600mg of neurontin every four to six hours throughout the day and finally two at bedtime. I take vistral as needed for anxiety. Its a lot of medication, but it's what it takes to keep me functioning as normal as possible and not let my bipolarII take over. I too am a big wine drinker.
