Common Questions and Answers about Abilify with food

abilify

Avatar n tn He was taking all of these up until about two weeks ago and at that time, he stopped taking Abilify. He was prescribed Lamictal in lieu of Abilify, but we had to wait until we got the correct dosage before taking him off Abilify. His tics seemed to be less intense while on Abilify. Could this be my imagination since at this time the tics and more intense and prevalent?
1356915 tn?1277344103 i was on abilify and an antidepressent.... but the side affects of abilify for so bad i had to stop taking it. i could make sense with my words, i was shaking, swollen tounge, loss of concentration... i couldnt sit still and i constantall had to be moving something on my body. but thats just me.
Avatar f tn There is no reason you can't take Abilify with Zoloft. I take Abilify with several other medications. It started working within 2 weeks and my depression decreased dramatically. One common side effect of Abilify is akathisia, a restless need to move. I have that but added propranolol and it stopped it completely with no other side effects.
1564087 tn?1308947518 Only side effect I really noticed from Abilify was weight gain but this was because it made me start eating every 3 hours and become obsessed with food I guess. I take Abilify for psychotic symptoms associated with my diagnosis of schizophrenia.
Avatar f tn Have you had these symptoms checked out by your GP? Abilify does cause shaking and tremors, and just because your psychiatrist hasn't seen these side effects doesn't mean they aren't being caused by the Abilify. I doubt the Abilify is doing much to help you, it's rare to get this many years out of one medication as our bodies build up a tolerance to these types of medications.
Avatar f tn I am on zoloft which does not help with my anxiety, does adding abilify help with the anxiety and the depression?
Avatar n tn t tolerate Geodon, it made me worse but 2mg of Abilify saved my life! I also now take it with 100mg of Seroquel at night and I feel better than I have in years. I also take lasix because Abilify caused me to retain water but the lasix does the job and I'm still loosing some weight I was trying to get off anyway. If you do notice weight gain, actual pounds, not feeling bigger, talk to your doc about a diuretic and see if that helps but a highly doubt you'll gain on Abilfy.
Avatar m tn has anyone tried to wean their patients off taking abilify and try alternative measures?
Avatar f tn You r very lucky. A ll i can say is my short stent with it, & then the Mayo clinic mess up, each day NOW, is worse than last day. Trying to get nerve up, to go to ER, & let them do there thing, cas i cant even take care of myself. Some apologies r starting to come, but it ws my life, & they or 1st hosp. goes just do it for 2 more weeks. Told them "NO" u saw what it ws doing to me! At least they admit it ws a cerebral onclusion/ cerebral something?!!
Avatar n tn I am just wondering if anyone has experienced elevated mood swings with abilify. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar1 as well as Major Depressive Disorder. I am currently taking Seroquel, Klonopin, Depakote, Cymbalta, and Abilify (day2). I had been taking 600mg of the seroquel and my md lowered my dosage to 300 adding 5mg of abilify. For the past two days (first two days on Abilify) I have experienced extreme mood swings and seem to snap at relatively small things.
Avatar m tn Could my medication (Abilify) be causing me to involuntarily rock back and forth seemingly at random when I'm not leaning against things? It's very subtle but becomes really noticeable when I lean forward. What is this even called? I only noticed it started happening after I took Abilify.
1714202 tn?1352672419 I'm going out this weekend and will probably end up drinking. I'm on lamictal, abilify, and ativan. Does anyone know the interactions mixing those with alcohol? Any help would be great thanks!
Avatar n tn right now his mom is dying of cancer, so we havent brought anything up to his doctor. the orthostatic hypotension is present with or without the abilify. thank you.
Avatar f tn Regardless of what they are treating any decrease in the dose of Abilify would lead to it being less effective so that should be discussed with a psychiatrist and as Tegretol (one of the names for the medication you are speaking of) that medication has a short half life (time it remains in the blood stream) so it can easily run out during the day and the dosage and titration and spacing of it should be discussed with a psychiatrist to prevent this from happenning.
1257808 tn?1322762215 If the food cravings happened with the Zyprexa it just might take a while to go away. Just remember some meds do cause food cravings even though they are not listed under side effects. Everyone is different.
Avatar m tn There is Abilify of course and a new antipsychotic Saphris was just FDA approved (note it works like all current antipsychotics, the next generation ones I've posted about are years off): http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm177401.
Avatar f tn My view which i expressed here many times yet never took abilify myself is that i have the feeling that lamictal+abilify is not a best combo because both work upwards, i happened to correspond with a lady in a fifferent forum who took both and was anxious so i advised her to ask her pdoc why not lamictal+seroquel and she did and since last january i haven't heard from her because she withdrew from the forum, upon writing to her she said she is doing fine and quite stable, so no need to rea
Avatar m tn thoughts super fast, wanna spend money on food but not hungry and cant make up mind on what 2 eat..... crying, wanna scream and break things...... good thing is that I TAKE MY MEDS......... so whats the problem?
Avatar f tn I first took Geodon. As I have been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder which was originally thought to be schizophrenia, I experience psychosis all the time regardless of my mood so I take antipsychotics for the psychotic aspect of my illness. Geodon worked better for my positive (hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, etc.) symptoms and not so great for my negative (loss of pleasure, lack of affect, lack of motivation, etc.) symptoms. Abilify works better for my negative symptoms.
