Abilify with children

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify with children

abilify

Avatar f tn Regardless of what they are treating any decrease in the dose of Abilify would lead to it being less effective so that should be discussed with a psychiatrist and as Tegretol (one of the names for the medication you are speaking of) that medication has a short half life (time it remains in the blood stream) so it can easily run out during the day and the dosage and titration and spacing of it should be discussed with a psychiatrist to prevent this from happenning.
Avatar n tn It you have any insight or answers, we would appreciate it. It is very difficult with the questions and stares from other children as well as even some uninformed adults.
Avatar f tn with no research on the effects of abilify on children how am I to know whether this medicine will endanger my MR adhd 9 year old child .he is also on strattera.
Avatar f tn There is no reason you can't take Abilify with Zoloft. I take Abilify with several other medications. It started working within 2 weeks and my depression decreased dramatically. One common side effect of Abilify is akathisia, a restless need to move. I have that but added propranolol and it stopped it completely with no other side effects.
Avatar f tn Have you had these symptoms checked out by your GP? Abilify does cause shaking and tremors, and just because your psychiatrist hasn't seen these side effects doesn't mean they aren't being caused by the Abilify. I doubt the Abilify is doing much to help you, it's rare to get this many years out of one medication as our bodies build up a tolerance to these types of medications.
Avatar f tn I am on zoloft which does not help with my anxiety, does adding abilify help with the anxiety and the depression?
1912569 tn?1485015929 DON'T stop taking the Abilify. Do make an appointment with the doc who prescribed it and tell him/her your concerns. You do not want to go back to that dark place that made you lose your marriage, have mood swings, act irrationaly, etc. I know you want the euphoria feeling but at what cost? Your doc can help you-- maybe lower your dose or change your med. Good luck and God bless.
Avatar n tn It has been a horror drug in my family. My brother passed away @51 years. The known blood sugar issues from Abilify made him become very obese and his heart gave away. I am not saying it was solely Abilify but it played a big role. He took it for many years as well.
Avatar m tn has anyone tried to wean their patients off taking abilify and try alternative measures?
Avatar n tn I am just wondering if anyone has experienced elevated mood swings with abilify. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar1 as well as Major Depressive Disorder. I am currently taking Seroquel, Klonopin, Depakote, Cymbalta, and Abilify (day2). I had been taking 600mg of the seroquel and my md lowered my dosage to 300 adding 5mg of abilify. For the past two days (first two days on Abilify) I have experienced extreme mood swings and seem to snap at relatively small things.
Avatar m tn while i was on abilify i was very sick, it mad me hear voices. & i was throwing up and dizzy all the time that pill should not be for children or teens. it has so many side affects like you could die from it suffer sever heart attacks. but thats goverment drugs for you..
Avatar f tn You know I believe if the child is suffering, then they need medication to end the suffering. Social Anxiety is awful, I have it and it is miserable. I would go for the mood stabelizer over the klonipin since klonipin is only a bandage and not really treating the anxiety. Plus it is addicting and that's another issue you don't need to deal with. I would ask the doc if he could come off the Risperdal and go on a mood stabelizer rather than add it to the mix.
1714202 tn?1352672419 I'm going out this weekend and will probably end up drinking. I'm on lamictal, abilify, and ativan. Does anyone know the interactions mixing those with alcohol? Any help would be great thanks!
Avatar n tn I read every bit of the side effects paper work given with the Abilify. My son after 2 doses of the 1/2 a pill of Abilify is having tremors. The paper work I was given do NOT state this as a side effect but some websites did state this was a side effect for children taking this medication. My question is are tremors a common side effect or an extreme side effect that would mean my child should not take this medication.
Avatar f tn He needs a significant degree of structure and hopefully his school program is a small, highly structured, self-contained classroom for children who display serious emotional and behavioral problems. He may an increase in his Abilify. By the way, I do disagree with your conclusion that he cannot obtain the help he needs in out-of-home settings. Depending on the nature of the facility, he may well require more inpatient or residential treatment help.

1110718 tn?1258435594 They took her off the concerta and left her on the abilify because they stated that the Concerta can make children be more aggresive and irritated and she does seem a little more laid back. But what should I do besides having her on meds and taking her a therapist? I do not know what the next step would be if this continues. I feel like I do not know what to do any more to help her.
Avatar f tn I thought it was working at first but then all of a sudden it stopped working. So starting today doctor has added abilify. Who knows maybe it will help. Hope so. Hope everyone is well. Oh on a very sad note, my sons very best friend since junior high passed away on the 4th of July. Unfortunately he was an addict/alcoholic. The cops had picked him up for public drunkenness and schedule 2 narcotics. A few hours later he passed away in jail. His family tried everything to help him.
Avatar f tn My view which i expressed here many times yet never took abilify myself is that i have the feeling that lamictal+abilify is not a best combo because both work upwards, i happened to correspond with a lady in a fifferent forum who took both and was anxious so i advised her to ask her pdoc why not lamictal+seroquel and she did and since last january i haven't heard from her because she withdrew from the forum, upon writing to her she said she is doing fine and quite stable, so no need to rea
Avatar n tn My son is extremely hyperactive. Lately it's gotten worse. He can't even keep food down, because he is all over the place afterward. He also has some serious sensory issues. He smears poop & vomit. Would Abilify help with these issues? If not, what would? We are desperate. He hasn't kept food down for 5 days. We brought him to the ER, but there was nothing they could to do, because he isn't sick. I talked to his specialist yesterday.
Avatar f tn Hello I am desperate to have a baby someday (we have not tried yet) and my period has gone down to three days instead of five days....what is wrong with me...we do have sex quite a bit just not trying all the way yet since we are not married yet and I need to get off my meds first...and go on new ones...
Avatar f tn This is hard isnt it to se your son feeling like this my sympathys are with you, ask your prescribing Doctor if once he is weaned off the resperdal , if you can try leaving him without meds, a lot of caring parents are now trying using food supplements to help their children, and it has been noted that a Multiple Vitamin with B Complex and Vitamin C and also Fish oil isĀ  benificial to children, if you google this there is a lot of information and look at the thread on this forum that starts &quo
