1985196 tn?1402190098 wow , that's some medication , over the last 10 years i've been on quiet a lot too but for the first 5 year's or so it was mainly anti-depressants and the odd anti psychotic , but they had no odea what they were treating back then, it's only been the last few years i got diagnosed properly ,but they are still not 100% sure about the Bi polar / with psychotic features or Schizoaffective , which is what they call it for now , i don't think there's a whole lot of difference
574118 tn?1305135284 50mg seroquel, 1mg risperidone, 1mg stellazin (typical antipsychotic) my last mania 4 years ago. I extinguished it by 300 seroquel. After which I kept reducing seroquel dose, until a month ago succeed till 50. Perhaps at this dose no antidepressant effect of it. Perhaps should be higher than that. Already I am BPII so depression is my problem.
Avatar f tn 1.5 months ago, I started experiencing my heart pounding and racing right after taking over the counter diuretics (Pamabrom) for a few days. The palpitations occurred everyday and I would have these palpitations several hours at a time. Since then, I've done EKGs, an echocardiogram, event monitor, and holter monitor. The cardiologists say that they found nothing concerning despite 2 occasions when my heart rate went well above 130 bpm.
3248163 tn?1354847640 Yeah public aid (this is my last year on it.) pulled my abilify. It made me feel so..amazing. So real. Whatever I suppose, got denied four times. I also found out in america you cannot get coverage with a pre-exsisting condition. Thats just great, im fearful im going to just end up homebound. Just a lonely possibly schizoaffective young woman, doing nothing with her life because she cant afford the only medication that allowed her to work. My title has nothing to do with my rant.
1742269 tn?1315381633 OK, i know i posted a question about Abilify, but i have decided i am not going to pay that much. So, my pharmacy found a medication that was a much lower cost out of pocket pay. I have to ask what people think of it. Problems/issues. Concerns? im so pose to take 2 mg. a day. i have had the issue of high blood pressure, which i am taking meds for, which i believe was from my last anti psychotic, i also had severe weight gain.
Avatar m tn well now im on abilify 10mg at night and that keeps me up half the night....... butb i just want the milk to go away.......
574118 tn?1305135284 my depression is usually not severe, still i can't function without an antidepressant. Thus the dilemma --> manic --> antipsychotics --> lethargic --> antidepressant ... i.e. the usual My meds are the least dosage: 1mg risperidone, 25mg seroquel, 12.5mg stablon (AD) but it's the instability that suffocates me. So if I can find some supplement adjunct to my AD then i can lessen my dosage of AD which in fact i tried it once and found myself doing well but my energy was low.
574118 tn?1305135284 One thing you might ask your doctor if you can try is stopping the seroquel and starting abilify in its place. Abilify is approved as a monotherapy or adjunct treatment for BP I, and is also approved as an antidepressant add-on, so if depression is your problem, it might work. You could also try other mood stabilizers like depakote, which has pretty good antimanic effects, or tegretol, or lamictal if you mainly get depression. Also, have you ever tried lithium?
Avatar f tn This so new to me. I have had mild depression for about 10yr. and always relied on a med to help. Last Feb '10 my dr. put me on abilify and boy did it perk me up. however, the side effects were worse then the depression. no sleep!!! unable to concentrate, overeating, restless legs. So I stopped. I then plunged into the WORST depression and my first panic attack (lasted for 4 days) no eating, heart palpatitions, etc.
Avatar f tn Lamictal not very much for me but can happen. Abilify and I believe the other two newly approved antipsychotics, Fanapt and Saphris are less likely to be sedating. Ask your psychiatrist about available options.

Avatar f tn hi I took my 2nd pill of abilfy last night and woke up this morning with a heartrate of 112...its usullay in the 68 to 72 range, could this be from abilify,,,,and im kinda dizzy...i called my pshy yesterday but didnt metion this and she told me i cant call her ever day or she can t be my dr.
Avatar f tn He does not have depressive symptoms--he gets manic and hears voices when he is stressed so we also have him on a low dose of risperidone and also Abilify (which has been our miracle drug). Mood swings are getting worse and he is getting more aggressive at home (hits walls). Besides getting him a punching bag, I wondered if anyone has had better experience with a different mood stabilizer--maybe something new? We tried tegretol with no effect when he was first diagnosed.
Avatar m tn My Pdoc had suggested an extremely slow tapering of risperidone over 10-12 weeks but I tapered it over 6 weeks and only had minimal withdrawl symptoms.I am yet to go and see him.I am stable on tegretol 1000 mg with no side effects.Hope it stays good.
574118 tn?1305135284 s due to the antidepressant usually i suppose. abilify does replace the AD, although an AP but abilify is good for depression. so i would recommend to take it in the morning only. have you tried taking abilify only with xanax?
Avatar m tn Now after the first moth i started to get paranoid that my wife was cheating on me and thought every time she would go out with her friends she was out doing other things. So i told my doctor and he gave me abilify i started off with the sample pack and the stuff just made me very ill couldnt sleep felt like i was running in place just didnt feel rite at all so i stopped taking it and yet and seen him today. He gave me risperidone and benztropine..
Avatar f tn Out of the currently available antipsychotics, Abilify is the least sedating and I believe the two newly approved ones Fanapt and Saphris as well. I believe all 3 are FDA approved for bipolar as well.
1696867 tn?1312609591 They put her on Lithium and then added abilify a week later. The abilify gave her horrible side effects and I never want to see my daughter in that condition again! I detest the drug Abilify. It is a reckless drug in my opinion. I have been prescribed Lamictal now for 3 years. It is the right med for me. I am not on the floor with depression and do not gain weight. I wish some could challenge their docs.
Avatar f tn The newest antipsychotics Abilify, Fanapt and Saphris are the least likely to do this but they may not be quite as effective mood stabilizers (although they are approved in this capacity) but only a psychiatrist would be able to make a conclusive judgment.
Avatar n tn My insurance company has changed Abilify to a "Non-Preferred" drug and suggests Risperidone as an alternative. Would they be classified as equivalents in your opinion? Abilify is working pretty well, but wanted to see what you thought before I talk to my pdoc. THOUGHTS?
Avatar m tn I do know however that when I was on Zyprexa (which has the strongest potential of weight gain) I gained 35 pounds and that when I requested to be changed to another antipsychotic I was able to lose the weight but I had to make dietary changes. Abilify (along with Saphris and Fanapt) has the least likelihood of this potential but its still there.
574118 tn?1305135284 He substituted tegretol with Abilify as my MS. I heard well of Abilify and I happen to have come across http://www.askdrjones.com/2005/02/14/ranking-the-mood-stabilizers/ . To tell you the truth I became happy because I know tegretol needs blood tests, etc…while abilify has a few side effects except some anxiety. I only became suspicious about its potency as a mood stabilizer. Otherwise why do pdocs recommend always one of the triads (lithium, depakote, tegretol) or lamictal lately.
Avatar f tn 6 months ago I took him to see a child psychologist and they proscribed him a low dose of abilify. Me being a concerned parent refused to give him the medication. Since then though Bryce's behavior has persistantly become worse and I have no idea what to do! It breaks my heart to see him like this. I feel like my entire family is upside down and i'm doing everything I can to not stress and work with him but I feel like no child should be this distraught.
952564 tn?1268368647 So since I am allergic to Lamictal my doctor is deciding to try Risperidone. He thinks it will also help me with my paranoia and repetitive thoughts. However, being an anti-psychotic I'm scared. I read through the side effects, some of them are pretty crazy, I know a lot of the bad ones are rare, but so far I'm 1:1 for bad rare side effects. >.
574118 tn?1305135284 As for diabetes all the atypicals can cause it including Abilify. My friend got the first signs of diabetes from Abilify and went on a weight reduction diet and it stopped. It never happens overnight. Keep your weight down and sugar intake down and you'll do okay. And as for any antipsychotic, your psychiatrist should do a simple movement disorders test regularly.
Avatar n tn From what I could read they appear to slow down the regulation of glucose and lipids (fats) but your psychiatrist would understand the clinical specifics of it. The antipsychotics from Abilify onwards have less of this potential but it stilll can occur. There are antipsychotic agents in clinical study that so far appear not to cause this at all.
