abilify

712802 tn?1274645485 My sister (married, age 56) was on 60 mg once a day of Cymbalta, plus 30 mg of abilify(for 6 years), plus lamectal (antipsychotic)..100mg twice a day. and 1 mg of zanax one per day... No longer covered by her Medicare, her psychiatrist took her off the cymbalta and abilify. Switched to prozac 40 mg once a day. Last day for cymbalta and abilify was Wednesday. She is having horrible throbbing , headaches, angry outbursts, crying, the "runs", nausea, panic, agitation.

Avatar f tn I have bipolar II, Major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been working with my psychiatrist for 10+ years to find a combination of medications to relieve my symptoms. I have been taking Wellbutrin XR, Lexapro and Klonopin (as needed.) Last year we added Abilify and the results were incredible. I came out of a very dark place, laughed, chatted, felt positive emotions and, for the first time in 15 years, felt like a "normal" person.
Avatar f tn YES!! I has the extreme heat intolerance as well as water retention. I was put on 40mg. of Lasix and I no longer have the issue with heat anymore. It was so bad I went off Abilify for a few months because of it. No other med helped so I went back on but with Lasix. The Lasix allows me to tolerate the Abilify and the Abilify is the only drug that has returned me to "normal". You may want to ask your doc about it?? Good luck.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you have an anxiety disorder as well. I do as well. I take 1mg of zanax twice a day or prn. Also, i have had narcolepsy for over 5 years. Thats a real pain to deal with! i take alot of stimulants and brain transmitting meds for that as well. it sounds like u might need to have a sleep study done by a specialist.I wish you the best.
Avatar m tn The main concern about taking these two meds together is that Abilify(an anti-psychotic) can increase the side effects of Wellbutrin. However, I currently take both these meds to treat my bipolar disorder, but I believe the dose I'm taking for Abilify(7.5 mgs a day) is low enough not to cause too much interaction. Of course people react differently to all meds so this may not be the case in your situation.
Avatar f tn I imagine some of this is marketting by the drug companies as Abilify is twice the price of Seroquel. To those who have switched from one antipsychotic to Abilify how did you find it worked comparitively. To anyone who is on it, would you suggest taking it? How has it helped you? I ask because I am on Ziprexa (Geodone in the US) and it causes me some agitation.
Avatar f tn I am was taking 30mg of adderall twice a day with 300mg of wellbutrin this seemed to be a good combo for my depression and add. I have recently been put on librium and propanolol for anxiety, thats all good. What I Am really.worried about is the 10mg of abilify they put.me on to help other anti depressant work. They also put me on luvox for OCD. i have heard good and bad things about these combos with adderall. I dont want them to counteract the drug. So any thoughts would be great. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hi...I have never heard of that med, but in research see it is used for reflux and gerd jut like the meds I am aware of. The dr will RX meds for the mgs and dosage ( times per day) per ur symptoms and how much healing u need.....I am on a gerd med and take it twice a day..... If u also modify ur diet and lifestyle u may heal a bit faster and be able to cut back on teh dosage faster.
1577158 tn?1476511278 m on that causes the outbursts of just from the depression? I take Wellbutrin 100MG twice a day, Abilify, Omeprazole, Levothyroxzine, and anxiety meds when needed.
Avatar f tn ve found a combo that works for me. I take 250mg Wellbutrin twice a day and 15mg of Abilify. I also take an anti-anxiety med and sleeping pills as needed. I haven't had any side effects on these medications, and I have low blood pressure already (and had fears of starting Abilify) I have read/heard that people don't all respond positively to this med, but for me, it's the right fit. Good luck finding your combo, and remember to listen to your body and talk to your doctor!
Avatar f tn Hi all. I'm new to this forum. I'm on day four of taking Abilify 5 mg. I've taken it once before but had to stop due to extreme restlessness. I have RLS really bad anyway and it made it 100 times worse and all the time. I'm hoping that I don't have the same reaction this time. I started taking it again because I don't sleep. Absolutely can't. At all! Drives me crazy.
Avatar f tn You might actually feel better once you get to a higher dose of seroquel. It's complicated, but at lower doses, it acts as an antihistamine, which makes you tired, but at higher doses, the receptors are saturated and people actually report feeling more awake. I know some people also take it at night to deal with some of the grogginess. I highly suggest checking out the crazymeds.us forums.
Avatar m tn I have an 18 year old son who is Autistic, he is on 500mg Depakane twice a day, we want to start him on Abilify, is ther any problem or interactions using those two drugs together?
Avatar f tn My daughter reduced her Abilify from 10 mg to 5 mg a few days ago. She is also experiencing bad headaches and nausea. How long did your symptoms last?
337492 tn?1212458836 It causes insomnia, she said it helps sleep. So I think taking 40mg twice a day, early is better. Also, when is the best time to take Abilify? She told me in the morning. Thanks guys!!
800339 tn?1270433486 He did say that if this medication works, he does intend to have me be on it long-term. So I am to take 1 mg of Ativan (twice a day) in conjunction with the 1 mg of Abilify. I will start this regime tomorrow (Thursday). I've researched the drug a little, but would like to use you guys as my sounding board. I am concerned about being on this drug long-term. So my questions are: What was your experience with Ativan? How long were you on Ativan? Did you have any side effects?
Avatar m tn I had a horrible experience with Abilify. It would make me feel like I was having a panic attack so bad that I had to straighten out my arms and legs and to hold onto something. My heart would race so fast it felt like it was going to explode in my chest. It was terrifying. Also when this was not happening (it would come and go in waves,) I was constantly tapping my feet or moving my hands. I remember my mother-in-law was watching t.v.
Avatar f tn My 11yr old son doesnt eat lunch do to focalin...do you know if he could take a 2mg of abilify with his focalin? I know that abilify helps you have an appetite and gain weight and my son is only 56lbs and 11yrs old...
Avatar m tn I tried Abilify with my antidepressant. After a few months on Abilify, my anxiety was actually worse. I noticed that the Abilify caused me to be agitated and restless (like I couldn't get confortable or sit still, kind of jittery) Abilify is really ment more to aid in the treatment of depression than it is anxiety. It's designed to be used as an antidepressant add on drug to give a bit more antidepressant punch rather than an anti-anxiety punch. Bad idea I think.
Avatar f tn My dosage was increased gradually to 5 mg, split and taken twice a day, for trichotillomania (an impulse disorder in which I pull out my hair). It seemed to work pretty well at first; I was able to control my urges to pull really well. In January 2012, after 5-6 weeks on the Abilify, I stopped cold-turkey fearing I was pregnant (which I wasn't). I now realize this was EXTREMELY STUPID to do, but at the time, no one had warned me not to do this.
574118 tn?1305135284 Abilify is supposed to be activating...might give you a little lift. I'm taking it now, but might end up on concerta anyway due to cognitive issues.
Avatar f tn s like Satan placed his hairy *** cheeks on my life. Last August of 2015 I stopped taking Abilify, after taking it for a year because it caused me to shake a lot, and I was worried about getting tardive dyskinesia. Also, last year I've been working hard animating and drawing daily, because i want to be an animator. And in summer 2015 I was accepted to animation programs at art college last summer, and animation was my life, so shaking hands is something I definitely didn't want.
