Avatar f tn I have just started taking Aripiprazole(Abilify) and have found it to have some beneficial effects on my mood. However I am also finding myself to be extremely drowsy. I have heard that this side effect wears off with time. Has anyone else experienced this? It's the first antipsychotic I've taken that's had any effect so I don't want to stop it but the fact I can literally go to sleep while standing up is making my life difficult.
Avatar f tn Some days, he will feel so sleepy whatever he does, other days he will be fine. Can this random sleepiness be attributed to abilify? Thanks.

Avatar n tn I was happier than I had ever been, but the Seroquel caused major weight gain and major sleepiness-I was falling asleeo at work. I went off Seroquel and tried Abilify and one other (cant remember) but they did not work. I am now backon Seroquel 300 miligrams along with my Lithium and Pexeva. I feel like it doesnt work as well as it did the first time. I went up to 450 with Seroquel, but I am just way too sleepy. Does anyone know a drug that works well with Pexeva and Lithium?
Avatar f tn Hi all. I'm new to this forum. I'm on day four of taking Abilify 5 mg. I've taken it once before but had to stop due to extreme restlessness. I have RLS really bad anyway and it made it 100 times worse and all the time. I'm hoping that I don't have the same reaction this time. I started taking it again because I don't sleep. Absolutely can't. At all! Drives me crazy.
Avatar f tn soooo i switched from abilify to geodon bcuz of my weight gain does any1 take geodon??? if so how r the side effects???

Avatar f tn Thanks for your reply!
574118 tn?1305135284 He substituted tegretol with Abilify as my MS. I heard well of Abilify and I happen to have come across http://www.askdrjones.com/2005/02/14/ranking-the-mood-stabilizers/ . To tell you the truth I became happy because I know tegretol needs blood tests, etc…while abilify has a few side effects except some anxiety. I only became suspicious about its potency as a mood stabilizer. Otherwise why do pdocs recommend always one of the triads (lithium, depakote, tegretol) or lamictal lately.
Avatar f tn I am getting back on track, I can actually FEEL the even-ness coming back. The Abilify keeps me so steady. The confusion is still there, not sure what happened the past 2 weeks. But, I can only work on that it is better again. I have been so confused. The Cymbalta works on the depression, VERY well. Have to assume the problems are on the way out of my life, once again. Well, as much as it can be? Not sure what all will come out of this hell. The loss of family & friends hurts.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed at 17, I tried seroquel (NOT good) i would sleep for days and feel drowsy, i could not function. Then I tried Abilify, low doses were ok, but once I got to 150mg I was tired all the time. My sister took Depakote, which worked for her, but it requires blood testing, and she was on Welbutrin, but it made her tired all the time and she gained a decent amount of weight.
574118 tn?1305135284 One thing you might ask your doctor if you can try is stopping the seroquel and starting abilify in its place. Abilify is approved as a monotherapy or adjunct treatment for BP I, and is also approved as an antidepressant add-on, so if depression is your problem, it might work. You could also try other mood stabilizers like depakote, which has pretty good antimanic effects, or tegretol, or lamictal if you mainly get depression. Also, have you ever tried lithium?
Avatar m tn The most common side effect of the abilify is really bad sleepiness and especially parkinsonism episode (like tounge getting twisted etc) Fortunately such episodes can be prevented and treated by other add on medication. The REAL serious side effect is Tardive Dyskinesia. ALL anyipsychotics has very rare risk of TD. Problem is... TD is incutable and virtually untreatable. Abilify is known to cause much less TD then other drugs but antipyschotic is antipyschotic.
Avatar n tn thought she maybe Bipolar weened her off Prozac and put her on Abilify. Total disaster very bad reation after only 1 day. Stopped that went back to prozac for the last 1 1/2 months or so. She has just started showing strong signs again of manic and obsesive behavior. Dr.s thinking prozac has backfired. She's been very agitated, angry, compulsive, crying, not knowing what's wrong or why she feels like she does. Even wanting to die. Four days ago took her to ER for eval.
Avatar m tn I've just started going to a doctor mainly to help with excessive daytime sleepiness that sometimes comes on very strong, as I'm a teacher and can't perform feeling like this. No amount of sleep or napping will remove the sleepiness. We have done bloodwork and everything has come back normal (we did not check t3 though), pulse ox was fine according to them, but here is my question- My O2 levels are always around 92, my pulse averages 35-40, and blood pressure generally ~105/70.
Avatar f tn For the past three months, I have been falling asleep in the car (as a passenger) or while reading the morning paper(basically any time I sit down). If I drive, I have to stop after 20 minutes and take a nap. I'm wondering if it is connected with any medication I am taking. It seems as if "sleepiness" is mentioned in the literature of any prescribed medication. I am on L-thyroxine (should I return to Synthroid?) The medication has been decreased after my last blood test.
648439 tn?1225058862 I have been dizzy for about 6 days - week 5 of treatment. I started taking AD's on Sat and now feel really sleepy and cannot go to work. I only took two half tablets of the AD - took half Sat am and half Sun pm. Is this (sleepiness) likely to be an effect of the AD's or the tx. Should I stop taking the AD's to see how I go without the?
1439353 tn?1309288364 has anyone had experience with feeling extreme tiredness/sleepiness where you fight to keep your eyes open? I am just so tired. Tonight is my last pill but I know it stays in your system for a while. Sigh. Any advice would be MOST appreciated! Thanks!
Avatar n tn What do I do about having sleepiness while I am in my 12th week of pregnancy first trimester?
Avatar f tn I was originally on Paxil then my Pschy took me off of it and put me on Abilify which put me into a manic state and landed me in a psych ward. I have never had a manic phase before. In the hospital they drugged me up with Geodon and Topamax for my migraines. I was on these meds for 4 days. I stopped the Topomax because my migraines are actually ice pick migraines and they don't last long so I don't feel the need to take a prescription for them. Then the Geodon...
918275 tn?1254068752 She did decrease my Abilify from 20mg to 15mg. She said she suspects that the sleepiness in a side effect from too much Abilify, even though that is not a common problem, I seem to be the exception to alot of rules when it comes to meds. I just react differently than most people.
Avatar f tn I am on zoloft which does not help with my anxiety, does adding abilify help with the anxiety and the depression?
