Hair loss is not listed as a side effect of Abilify. I would address this right away with an Endocrinologist, as it may be related to your thyroid which can also cause anxiety and depression. Hair coming out in small clumps is a symptom of an underlying condition and blood work can determine what this is. Don't stop the Abilify, but make the prescribing doctor aware of what you're experiencing........

I recently started taking Abilify and am experiencing uncontrolled shaking and light-headedness. What are the side effects of Abilify and are these a couple of them. Should I try something else to help with my depression. THe Psych. said that this in concert with my prozac should help me out. Thanks for your help.

They put her on Lithium and then added abilify a week later. The abilify gave her horrible side effects and I never want to see my daughter in that condition again! I detest the drug Abilify. It is a reckless drug in my opinion. I have been prescribed Lamictal now for 3 years. It is the right med for me. I am not on the floor with depression and do not gain weight. I wish some could challenge their docs.

I recommend these doses. I would like to know side affects of abilify..ie sex drive, sense of humour, weight loss? And can I use paracetomels with this mix? And green tea slimming pills? I have a drink at the weekends which seems to be ok. A few bottles of wine.

psychiatric meds take a toll on weight gain i gained 66 lbs. from abilify in that same amount of time i take geodon now.

I have recently been reading about the blood sugar issue. My son is taking seroquel now but as he is not diabetic, I have no idea what it is doing to his blood sugar. He's also currently on a very low dose of 12.5. I guess it mostly makes him sleepy and unfortunately, too sleepy as he doesn't like it. I like it because it gets him to stay asleep all night but with severe depression, I know it's probably not doing anything for mood at that dose.

When I went through this issue myself I asked to be changed to another mood stabilizer and I found Lamictal to be the most tolerable in this regard, certainly as regards weight gain but each person responds differently to each medication. Sometimes if a person is developing severe side effects from a medication it is worthwhile to consider available options. Speak to your psychiatrist about this.

My doctor wants me to start on Abilify but I declined after I read the side effects. Has anyone had any uncontrolled movements, weight gain, tardive dyskinesia, etc. with this medication. If so, please let me know. I really need a medication to replace the ones I went off of but my doctor is giving me no other choices. I am currently on Topamax and have been for over a year now.....when I was first put on it I lost 25 pounds. Then as my body adjusted to it the weight loss has stopped. I just has my dosage increased about a week ago and have lost an additional 5 pounds since then.... Topamax is a anti-convulsant and is used in Bipolar patients as an off-label med....

You can always change to another med if you do not like the side effects of the one you are on. With regard to hair loss, I never experienced that and nobody I know of has either, in fact my hair grew thicker! I would never put anyone off trying a recommended med as we are all so different in our biological make-up. Give it a go and see how you get on.

Have you had these symptoms checked out by your GP? Abilify does cause shaking and tremors, and just because your psychiatrist hasn't seen these side effects doesn't mean they aren't being caused by the Abilify. I doubt the Abilify is doing much to help you, it's rare to get this many years out of one medication as our bodies build up a tolerance to these types of medications.

I've just had Abilify added to my cocktail of Lamictal and Clonazepam, hoping that it is going to lift me out of the current depression. Basic not wanting to get off the couch, go out, brush my teeth, talk on the phone, get out of my nightgown, and feelings of hopelessness. ( standard depression stuff ) Just, this has gone on a long, long time. I only get up, bathed and dressed if I have an appointment out of the house. Otherwise, it's me and the dog. That's it.

meds cause so many side effects specially when you just start to take them... side effects are why i am not on any meds today... i found that some of the meds i was on did make me feel kind of high, or just not myself... i was told if i just continued on them those side effects would go away... i was not willing to go through those feelings and wait for the side effects to just go away, i woul try for a while but would just stop because it felt like i had waited long enough already...

Abilify has a lot of information on the web about side effects and a quick google may work well, always remember that side effects are not all going to happen to you or even likely - Abilify is well liked and fairly safe compared to some of the AP and AC drugs like Geodon and Risperdal.

m about ready to just get off everything. Please, if anyone out there knows if this is a permanent side effect of Abilify or if there are any other side effects that I should be aware of, please let me know. My doc told me I wouldn't gain weight from Abilify. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated.
