They put her on Lithium and then added abilify a week later. The abilify gave her horrible side effects and I never want to see my daughter in that condition again! I detest the drug Abilify. It is a reckless drug in my opinion. I have been prescribed Lamictal now for 3 years. It is the right med for me. I am not on the floor with depression and do not gain weight. I wish some could challenge their docs.

I've been on effexor xr for years, and recently added abilify. I've been diagnosed with major depression and generalized anxiety, but I think I have bipolar II due to episodes of hypomania. Have you had these symptoms checked out by your GP? Abilify does cause shaking and tremors, and just because your psychiatrist hasn't seen these side effects doesn't mean they aren't being caused by the Abilify. I doubt the Abilify is doing much to help you, it's rare to get this many years out of one medication as our bodies build up a tolerance to these types of medications.

I had pretty bad hand tremors like you described when I was on Lithium, and my feet did jerk occasionally when I was sleeping. Like you my pdoc knew all about it. I also was on Abilify concurrently. When my feet and arms were constantly moving or restless, my dr. took me off the Abilify. He identified and dealt with it as soon as i reported that it was going on for a week.

Usually initial side effects wear off after two weeks.

I read every bit of the side effects paper work given with the Abilify. My son after 2 doses of the 1/2 a pill of Abilify is having tremors. The paper work I was given do NOT state this as a side effect but some websites did state this was a side effect for children taking this medication. Yes these would be side effects of concern. Abilify and the related SDA antipsychotics can at times cause heart irregularities. Having trouble breathing (potentially) and having stiffness in your neck or back could be due to temporary movement disorders (if dystonia is left untreated a person could have trouble breathing, for that reason its best to have a side effect pill with you at all times, check that with your doctor).

Ok, will the side effects go away. My hands and body are very very shaky, just from time to time. Like, for instance, yesterday I had no spells of shakiness, but today at about 10:30 this morning I couldn't hold a glass of water without spilling it. It can also cause similar side effects. Just not as bad. I started giving my wife sam e after stopping xyprexa. Her mood and other physical symptoms are better. I want her to just take the sam e and to re-start taking her cholesterol medicine again. Her current cholesterol numbers are terrible without taking the cholesterol med. She was taken off of it because the rhabdomylisis. Her rhabdomylisis numbers are still bad with just the xyprexa.

Deplin seems to be an anti-depressant booster, and Abilify could cause the twitching. It does take a while for it to get out of the system. If after a month off the drugs, and the twitching is still there, you migh want to consult with a psychiatrist.

Abilify is a good medication for those that need it, but it does have a considerably higher occurance of severe side effects than other treatments.

I was on prozac for 4-5 years for depression. my new physc put me on lamictal..once i went up to 200mg i felt very very spacey so i am back down to 150. about 5 weeks ago she took me off my prozac and on lithium. I started at 300mg then moved up to 600mg..at that dose i was getting very severe nausia. then last week on tues i started to cry and could not stop..
