Common Questions and Answers about Abilify patient information

abilify

Avatar f tn Have you had these symptoms checked out by your GP? Abilify does cause shaking and tremors, and just because your psychiatrist hasn't seen these side effects doesn't mean they aren't being caused by the Abilify. I doubt the Abilify is doing much to help you, it's rare to get this many years out of one medication as our bodies build up a tolerance to these types of medications.
Avatar f tn I am on zoloft which does not help with my anxiety, does adding abilify help with the anxiety and the depression?
Avatar m tn has anyone tried to wean their patients off taking abilify and try alternative measures?
Avatar m tn I am currently taking Wellbutrin for my depression. My question is can I take Abilify with Wellbutrin?
Avatar n tn my 10yr old son has been on a regimen of 1300mg lithium and 5mg abilify since age 7 due to aggresive behavior towards family and self mutalation. Was hospitalized at Walker Art,Needham Mass to get satabilized..meds worked for the better part.He was recently taken off abilify 5 wks ago-the past 3plus wks he has returned to his behavior not seen since age of 7.Drs wanted to try him on triliptal which been on over wk now, nothing has improved more so worsened.
Avatar f tn Okay so my doctor has decided to take me off of abilify but now Im having headaches. Is it because of the abilify and not being on it? Has anyone else experienced this? They are excruciating at times and I can't seem to rid myself of them. Ive put in a call to her office but no return call as of yet. Im just curious if the headaches are related to this because I wasn't having them until I went off the abilify as of last week.
Avatar f tn The mood stabilizer I take Lovaza is an anti--cholesterol medication that is used off label for bipolar. The use of it is still experimental but some psychiatrists (especially psychopharmocologists who specialize in how medications work) will prescribe it. As its not specifically approved for this purpose they are just learning how it works. Generally the more common mood stablizers (lithium, Depakoate, Lamictal) are used first.
202665 tn?1248806733 You could go to the medication website but from my experience and general knowledge its activating rather than sedation so if it keeps you up at night you could ask your psychiatrist if you could take it in the morning. Otherwise it has the same side effect profile as the other atypical antipsychotics though its the least likely to cause weight gain.
Avatar n tn Most people who suffer with anxiety take an antidepressant as well as an anxiety medication. There is an adjustment period up to a week or so when starting any antidepressant, and I'm sure this is what you experienced. It takes 4-6 weeks to feel the full benefit of Abilify, so be patient. Your doctor knows what he's doing and if you ever have anything that concerns you about the medication, he is your best resource and wants to know how you're doing on it.
Avatar n tn Hi I was wondering if anyone knew if the medication abilify could cause anxiety. My anxiety is so bad I don't know what to do. I am also on a low dose of prozac for depression. Abilify was added because the dr. thought i might be bi-polar. I dont think i am nor do my friends and family?? But recently the anxiety is unbearable i take xanax when it's really bad but it's has been so bad that i would have to take it once or twice a day and i really don't want to??? any suggestions??
Avatar m tn Could you prescribe an antidepressant that might work?(SSRI).I am taking Abilify and Klonopin) for a month.I live in Romania wich is a undeveloped country. My session with my psychiatrist last only 10 minutes,he doesn't ask what other medication i may be taking,or other things wich a psychiatrist should ask,i only tell him my issue and ,he doesn't tell me a diagnosis he just prescribes this things.
Avatar f tn An SSRI generally is of concern for someone with bipolar and can easily worsen mania. Abilify like all antipsychotics can treat it. Abilify and Geodon are activating, that is they will make a person more likely to be awake instead of being sedating. I know when I was on Geodon and Abilify they kept me up practically the whole night but they didn't make me manic. Some people find it better to take it in the morning for that reason.
Avatar f tn My son takes 7.5 mg abilify in morning since Jan.'13 . Some days, he will feel so sleepy whatever he does, other days he will be fine. Can this random sleepiness be attributed to abilify? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Abilify can seriously effect your blood sugar even make you diabetic.
Avatar n tn is anyone on saphris? my pdoc changed me from seroquel and abilify to this new med, which i start tonight. the other 2 was causing my blood sugar and pressure to start going up. i felt fine taking this combo but don't want to take 2 more meds for blood sugar and blood pressure.
642393 tn?1227032656 I just got Abilify about an hour ago my boyfriend is getting it filled now does anyone know anything about it Does it help? any side effects? By the way i don't think i am bipolar but it is for depression and my mood!! thank you all!!
Avatar f tn Bristol-Myers Squibb has a patient assistance program for Abilify. They say to call them if you have Medicare part D. There are some discount cards out there that are free to download and print that may give you more of a discount. Tell your doctor you're having issues paying, and ask if they can give you more samples while you try to work things out.
Avatar n tn i do better on medication but still struggle with focus, completeing tasks, starting new projects, anxiousness, worry. the doc and i are considering adding Abilify to the Depakote. anyone out there tried it. my understanding: it works best added to an antidepressant which Depakote isn't. Side effects?? thanks. keep takkin' your meds, don't miss your appts. and keep building your support group. Be careful who you share your mental health with, people love to pigeon-hole you.
Avatar n tn has anyone on abilify developed eye twitching and what did you do. also has anyone developed hight blood sugars from seroquel and what did you do about it. i've been on this combo for 2 months and felt great---------then the side effects happened. i was switched to saphris to replace the abilify-------------anyone have info on this drug-----------------and lunstra and trazodone to replace the seroquel for sleep i don't feel well. i feel like i have a stomach flu.
1109293 tn?1258329623 Yes some people use that for tardive. I am aware of that. However, there are many other clinically approved options though for tardive that are far more effective. The standard ones being Aricept, Baclofen, Requip and Mirapex. I use the Clonidine patch application for tardive which is quite helpful. Tenex which is in the same class of medications is helpful as well. Botox shots are used for tardive dystonia that is specifc to one area (such as facial tics).
574118 tn?1305135284 He substituted tegretol with Abilify as my MS. I heard well of Abilify and I happen to have come across http://www.askdrjones.com/2005/02/14/ranking-the-mood-stabilizers/ . To tell you the truth I became happy because I know tegretol needs blood tests, etc…while abilify has a few side effects except some anxiety. I only became suspicious about its potency as a mood stabilizer. Otherwise why do pdocs recommend always one of the triads (lithium, depakote, tegretol) or lamictal lately.
Avatar f tn I am wondering about Abilify instead of Geodone. What is your experience with this drug? Does it work as well as the atypicals? It should for how much it costs. I also take lamotrigine 200mg/day and trazodone 50mg for sleep.
