Abilify new indication

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify new indication

abilify

Avatar f tn When I was on Abilify although it was helpful I experienced some anxiety and agitation and insomnia. Some of those issues are not uncommon as Abilify unlike other antipsychotics instead of being sedating can often be activating. Is that some of what you are experiencing?
Avatar n tn is anyone on saphris? my pdoc changed me from seroquel and abilify to this new med, which i start tonight. the other 2 was causing my blood sugar and pressure to start going up. i felt fine taking this combo but don't want to take 2 more meds for blood sugar and blood pressure.
790165 tn?1268836968 I just got taken off Abilify because of the involuntary movements. I'm diabetic as well and the Abilify was messing with my blood sugars. I already feel better!
Avatar f tn After years of continued difficulty with bouts of depression, anger/irritability, sleep, I saw a new doctor in 2015 who prescribed Abilify 5mg along with Adderall. He mentioned that he thought I continued to have issues because of the Prozac but did not officially give me a diagnosis. I immediately saw the benefits. However, at the end of 2016 I went through a severe bout of depression and discontinued the Abilify.
1041243 tn?1375230520 my dr added abilify to my long list of meds for ocd and anxiety, and now i'm freaked out cuz i'm not having panic attacks when i have obssesive scary thoughts. it's like i'm scared that i'm not scared. anyone ever expirienced this? any advice?
1565420 tn?1304572548 Hair loss is not listed as a side effect of Abilify. I would address this right away with an Endocrinologist, as it may be related to your thyroid which can also cause anxiety and depression. Hair coming out in small clumps is a symptom of an underlying condition and blood work can determine what this is. Don't stop the Abilify, but make the prescribing doctor aware of what you're experiencing........
1012542 tn?1313354880 Hi everyone Chris here, new to group. I'm Bipolar II rapid cycling mixed episodes. I'm looking for some feedback on Abilify from some of you that have tried it. I hate messing around with my meds as it seem like forever trying this that and the other. Currently on Effexor XR, Depakote, and Seroquel. Still seems like not enough relief. So to add Abilify and discontinue one or leave it alone? My Phd. is not much help on this one, I think I've burned him out.
Avatar f tn I am never afraid to try new meds that my doctor recommends, because as triedeverymed says, if the new stuff doesn't help in a couple of weeks, then go back to the old meds or try another new one. It's so hard finding the right combination that works, especially since every person reacts differently. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn Abilify as I said is the least likely of the new antipsychotics to cause weight gain but it can happen. It happens to a reasonable percentage of people but less than than the other atypicals because its a SDA (Serontonin Dopamine agonist) and works in a somewhat different manner than Risperdal, Zyprexa and Olanzapine which often cause weight gain (Geodon less but its the same class as those). So Abilify is a slight update and the side effect of weight gain is less common.
Avatar f tn Yea charlotte, I took Abilify with Pristiq. (On different meds now) The Abilify was added a few months after the Pristiq because even at 100Mgs the Pristiq was just not working good enough. At the time Abilify was a very new drug so I was wanting to try it anyway. I don't want you to go only by my experience with Abilify, but it failed to help me much at all even at higher dosages.
Avatar n tn i think going off serquel cold turkey and abilify is what did me in or maybe side effects from the new meds. i took the old meds yesterday and not the new ones and already feel better. i was takes off the abilify and serquel because it was causing my blood sugars to go up and my cholestrol and blood pressure. plus i gained 20 pounds. but i was happy felt good now i'm back to feeling depressed and sick.
Avatar n tn Just started on increase in Abilify. Woke up this morning with stiff neck. How do I know if it's related to taking the Abilify?
Avatar f tn hi I took my 2nd pill of abilfy last night and woke up this morning with a heartrate of 112...its usullay in the 68 to 72 range, could this be from abilify,,,,and im kinda dizzy...i called my pshy yesterday but didnt metion this and she told me i cant call her ever day or she can t be my dr.
918275 tn?1254068752 I bet your pdoc is one of the few who reason well. abilify is a new atypical antipsychotic manufactured by a japanese company and some doctors rank it as the 1st among mood stabilizers. It's very good for depression very activating, the only drawback a bit of anxiety and insomnia, this is why they give it in the mornings. If you don't get them i would advise you to proceed. if i remember the therapeutic dose is 15-30, i.e. she is giving you the min, so you can ask her to up your dose.
Avatar f tn i am currently taking 10mg of olanzepine, and 200mg carbemazepine per day for bipolar. i am seeing a new psychiatrist who is strongly suggesting that i stop the olanzepine because i have greatly elevated levels of cholesterol and have gained 50 pounds. (have been on said meds for about 5 years). her 2 suggestions are abilify and ziprasidone--i know nothing about either of these meds and would greatly appreciate any info. and input you may have.
Avatar f tn I have felt hyper and excited before but not at all to the point of spending sprees, multiple partners, anger, ect. The last time my mania hit was due to the stresses of a new job. I was just too hard on myself, lost 30 lbs. That was over 6 months ago. I am no longer working. My doctor wants to put me on Abilify. I tried 2mgs only once. I had no problems. He wants me to start with 2mg then go up to 5mg. I don't want to. I have read about the side effects.
Avatar f tn When it came out my psychiatrist wanted me to try it because nothing was working for me. She said that a lot of people are able to manage their Bipolar with Abilify alone- if they tolerate it. I was happy to give it a try, but I quickly developed severe akathisia, or what I called 'itchy muscles'. It was just uncomfortable. Not everyone who takes Abilify gets it, though.
Avatar f tn m 45 year old woman and there is lots of family history of mental illness on both sides. Avatar f tn I have had lack of movement in the left side of my mouth for over a year now, before I came off of the Effexor. (Was also on Abilify) I always appear to have had a stroke with part of my mouth not moving as it should when I talk, and with even some saliva slippage went I talk a lot. I recently had a cat scan of my brain and the neurologist says there is no sign of any strokes or lesions. I cannot now locate the source that said what I read about the facial stroke appearance symptom.
Avatar n tn I am suppose to start abilify and i am scared to try it. I have had depression most my life and i am 52. They think i am bipolar 2 but who knows. You read all kinds of stuff about it. Has anyone here liked it.
