Abilify high blood sugar

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify high blood sugar

abilify

Avatar f tn My doc put me on abilify yesterday and warned me that it can cause serious blood sugar problems. This scares me because I have a family history of diabetes. Can a healthier diet and excercise plan help offset this possible side effect, or does it just happen anyway, no matter what your diet? Also, is there any other things I need to be warned about or watch for while I start this new medication? I am already taking lamictal as well.
Avatar f tn Hi The only one reason i can think of right now, is that abilify may cause you to have high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). This is why they tell you to talk to your doctor if you develop any sign of this such as increased thirst or urination, excessive hunger, or weakness. More crucial if you are already diabetic you should regularly check your blood sugar levels.
Avatar f tn Do I still have to worry about high blood sugar levels? BTW Ive been off it for at least 5 months and I have not had any problems psych wise.
Avatar n tn t recall gaining weight. However my blood sugar soared up to on an average to over 30o fasting blood sugar. I am diagnosed with diabetes type2. I strongly recommend to at least be cautious of you're diabetic. Plus discuss with your prescribing doctor if you're diagnosed with diabetes, especially type2.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER not long ago and I was told I had very high blood sugar, I had not eaten anything for more than 8 hours other than toast.
Avatar n tn After I gave him something really sweet to drink about 45 minutes later he was ready to eat. So do we have a problem with low sugar or high sugar? Is this something to worry about? He cant't talk so he can't tell us how he feels. My husband won't have insurance until the end of April. So were kinda stuck at the moment with being able to get anyone to help us. We were also told that since his seizures last that long we should really be worrying about brain deteriation.
Avatar n tn I had mentioned to a friend with a diabetic son that after I exercise(run) in the morning my blood sugar will sometimes shoot up 100-150 points and this is after a reading of 120-150 prior to running on my treadmill. I then have readings that are 200-250 and I get very frustrated! I am a type I diabetic for 26 years. I thought this was strange seeing that I had not eaten anything to make my blood sugar climb so high.
Avatar f tn I m Type-1 diabetic from last 15 years and my blood sugar level used to be under control but from last 2 Weeks, my sugar level fluctuates a lot. Fasting blood sugar is nearly around 300 : before dinner around 500 and after dinner its around 400.There is no change in my diet, exercise or my daily routine pattern. Even I take short acting insulin(novorapid) when my sugar level goes beyond 300 but it doesn't make much difference. I m really worried.
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me how high your blood sugar should get before you become alarmed or call the doctor? I have not been diagnosed but a few months and my doctor has not told me much of nothing. My sugar keeps going up and down, my doctor won't put me on medicine(the highest its been is 400+, the lowest 60) Thanks for your help!!!
Avatar f tn All these things greatly influence blood sugar. If you have been unable to get your blood sugar stable at all, these are things you need to work on. I hope your husband gets better soon.
1773108 tn?1314158067 Good Morning, I have a question about high blood sugar levels that don't seem to stabilize. My boyfriend has been struggling for years with high blood sugar. He told me this morning that his level was at 480+!!!! He says he doesn't feel any different whether it's high or low. The lowest it's been (to my knowledge) is still in the high range of 200+.
Avatar m tn My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
13126824 tn?1428652469 I take Zoloft and Abilify for bipolar disorder. My sugar levels were heightened due to Abilify, but I am now taking Metfforman to level out my sugar level because Abilify has the ability to heighten sugar levels. I am not a diabetic. Does cholesterol have anything to do with this cramping?
1058898 tn?1275675151 Your doctor is uninformed and irresponsible to be allowing your blood sugar to go so high without advising you to do anything. As Zoelula said, it is your health. It is up to you. Get yourself educated and get it under control. Else there will be consequences. This is the plain and ugly, but necessary truth!
Avatar m tn Was your gastroparesis diagnosed by a gastroenterologist? This test envolves swallowing multiple pellets/pills at specific times that plot the path and time-line of G.I. motility with X-Rays. Reglan is often prescribed for gastroparesis. Reglan can cause a variety of neurological symptoms. What meds are you taking? Did they rule out a hiatal hernia (MRI of chest and belly)? Gastroparesis is usually diagnosed with diabetes. Was diabetes ruled-out by a hemoglobin A1c? This test is Only an AVERAGE.
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.
