abilify hair loss

I take Abilify and didn't experience any unusual hair loss yet (just normal hair fall) and I've been taking it for months. Sorry to hear you had such a reaction to it.

Hello Everyone, I'm very new community. My new dr. just recently told me that me that I'm bipolar. I had been on lamictal for about two years for depression and anxiety, but weaned myself off of it, as I was convinced that it was making me gain weight. When I weaned myself off, I fell into a deep depression and had to find myself a new dr. I started Topamax and Wellbutrin, but the Wellbutrin is making my thoughts and heart race. So I have to go off.

Has anyone else experienced hair loss with Cymbalta? I swear it's making my hair fall out.

am taking abilify 8 years and suffer fom random memory loss, also have experienced uncontrollable shivering . Have major problems with the psychiatrist as they simply state no other patient has experienced those symptoms. The memory loss is fustrating/social embaressing but the 'shivering' is actually very scarey. Also keep waking up at night...4 or 5 am .Am seeking info/contact with other persons who may experience the same. Am 48 years old female.

My cognitive (memory loss, confusion, problems with thinking, etc.) symptoms seem to be getting worse as time passes however. I however have significantly gained weight on Abilify with no signs of stopping even with exercise and dieting so I'm going to request a med change if this keeps up.

And I took Abilify in the past. Abilify is the antipsychotic least likely to cause weight gain but it can happen. Fish oil is good but better is the anti-cholesterol medication Lovaza derived from it which is used experimentally for bipolar. As per weight loss, I'd go on a standard diet or if its of concern go to a nutrionist. Its probably from the Abilify and usually not a problem but you would still have to keep within a normal weight limit in a healthy manner.

Hi all, I am severely depressed & have been taking Prozac for a month now & my doc suggested Abilify to add. I had already put on 30lbs from lexapro, which is part of becoming depressed again. I have been on the Abilify for 6days now & can tell it is having a positive impact on me. I have had enough motivation to work out the past two days & I am really watching what I'm eating. Has anyone here had success with losing weight on Abilify & prozac?

I was wondering how Abilify added to an anti-depressant affects a bipolar II? Will it cause Mania?

It is not intended to be used for weight loss alone! Did you know it can cause hair loss and kidney stones? By the way, I have been on Topomax for about a year and haven't lost any weight becasue of the other drugs I am on. Think twice before you add another med to your list!

I sweated constantly, loss of appetite, and lowered my libido. I just recently saw an ad for Abilify I was curious about that medication. Depending on how chemically imbalanced your body is the Effexor for me worked in a matter of a few days I could tell the differnce. The doctor says it would take up too 3-weeks for me to notice a change, but I was seeing a difference as well as my family in a matter of a few days....Hope this can help.

I am on seroquel and abilify, and so far they havent caused any weight gain for me, or weight loss! I was on geodon at one point to, but that was a nightmare! You will have to sit back, and see what happens. If you really dont want the weight gain, then exercising should definitely help! I cant say for sure either, what the result will be!

Monday, 6/7, I began experiencing lack of coordination - bumping into furniture, walls, door facings, and tripping over things; also dropping things sometimes, but not as much as bumping into things. The fronts of my legs are covered with bruises. It is still occurring, though doesn't seem as severe. I had begun taking Abilify 5 mg po daily on 6/3, so I'd had only 4 doses when this began. Yesterday, I also began having palpitations and tachycardia, so have stopped the Abilify.

I recommend these doses. I would like to know side affects of abilify..ie sex drive, sense of humour, weight loss? And can I use paracetomels with this mix? And green tea slimming pills? I have a drink at the weekends which seems to be ok. A few bottles of wine.

I went to the doctors yesterday he wants me to start Abilify? Does anyone know anything about this medication good or bad? He also wants me to Up my Klonopin to 4mg 's a day . He said if he were to change me to adavin he would have to put me on such a high dosage as much as 12mg? Does this seem right i am seriously thinking my doctors nutts :( Everytime i went to the Emergancy room after my dad passed i was given a shot 2mg;s of adavin it calmed me down so i could think ..

All because of Lamictal and Abilify. Recommend that you do a search for Abilify side affects. She should be weaned off that dangerous drug.

I started out on Risperdal and then was switched to Abilify, which seemed to slow the weight gain down, but I am continuing to gain weight which is very troubling to me. I have read alot about Topamax and it's weight loss side effect. I wonder if my psych would be willing to prescribe it for me since the weight gain is really putting a damper on my progress as far as happiness goes.

5mg to help regulate my sleep, which sounded great to me since I do not remember the last time I had a good night sleep. He also put me on a low dose of abilify 2mg for a week then up it to 4 mg a day. I slept good last night, went right off to sleep and did not wake up, still woke up tired, shucks!! but the kittne woke me up so who knows what time i would have slept too...

I am wondering about Abilify instead of Geodone. What is your experience with this drug? Does it work as well as the atypicals? It should for how much it costs. I also take lamotrigine 200mg/day and trazodone 50mg for sleep.

All the atypical antipsychotics have the potential to cause metabolic imbalances that often lead to weight gain and can create the changes that lead to diabetes, Abilify, Fanapt and Saphris being the 3 with the least of this potential. Eating a proper diet of course can help strongly but it still can be a problem.

Low iron levels can cause hair loss. You might want to get that checked.

I'm losing hair too. Not in clumps but I clog the drain once a week from my hair loss. And all my friends said their hair was so full and healthy during pregnancy and after lost some. I get a ball of hair during evey wash and its not normal for me also my scalp itches like crazy and I don't have bugs lol o had my husband check lol!

Especially after combing my hair,there is a ton of hair in the sink. However my hair seems to be growing as fast as it falls out so I have thickness still. Someone told me to drink more milk and I find on the days that I do I see less shedding.

It makes me depress everytime i see how plenty of hair i loss. I tried every hair fall shampoo but none of those worked. I don't wanna comb my hair anymore.
