Abilify generic alternative

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify generic alternative

abilify

Avatar f tn 5 mg it has a pretty strong effect on me. Because of the weight gain I want to know if anyone has found an alternative that works as well as zyprexa?
Avatar m tn has anyone tried to wean their patients off taking abilify and try alternative measures?
Avatar m tn I would also make sure your prescription insurance covers Abilify, as it is still under patent and there is no generic available at this time. For me, without insurance, a thirty day supply would cost about 260 dollars. So I would look into that as well, and, if it isn't covered, then perhaps you could get samples from your doctor.
712802 tn?1274645485 I have been on Cymbalta (30mg 2 X day) for a few weeks (about six) and my doctor gave me some Abilify samples (2mg) to try along with the Cymbalta. I have not been having irrational or psychotic thoughts, but I have been tired a lot. The hope is that the Abilify will give me some energy without side effects. I'm 57 year old male and have been on pain meds for five years due to disc issues, stenosis, severe arthritis, and fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn t mean to hijack this thread, but would happen if someone just started taking Abilify 15 mg, Celexia 10 mg, and Klonopin 1 mg (all generic) for five days and then just stop cold turkey? No prior medication were taken.
Avatar m tn That can vary with each specific medication and its content as well as whether its a generic or not. The active ingredients in the medication itself in all cases are the same but sometimes the other active ingredients might vary for other reasons (such as whether a medication is timed released, coated, etc.
Avatar n tn When it stopped being covered under brand name on our rx policy we switched to the generic. Under the generic Escitalopram0 (10 mg x 2 per day) he got headaches, dizziness, inability to focus the way he should, "fuzzy" feelings. The brand is $275 per month. If there is a natural compound or herb etc could you let us know. I always knew that certain generics would not work the same way. If the only choice is lexapro then that will have to be.
Avatar m tn I just saw my doc today and he suggested i go on Abilify also. But when i went to the pharmacist he told me it would be $40 a month for the script. I can not afford that. The pharmacist told me about Effexor XR (that will be going generic July 1st). Has anyone been on this?? Has it helped?? I have also tried paxil, WellbutrinXL, and Prozac. These made me more depressed. I guess i just need some help as to what else is out there that works...
Avatar f tn You should discus your concerns with the prescribing doctor. Or call a pharmacist and see what they say about the medication itself. What medication are you referring to? I seriously doubt a doctor would give an antipsychotic to a baby but there may be off label uses that warrant it for mentally handicapped children. Why go to a doctor if you aren't going to act on their advice? Talk to the doctor about why you feel it's inappropriate.
Avatar m tn I have taken liquid generic Zoloft for five or six years and it's helped a lot. I also take a small amount of Abilify and Klonopin. I have started taking liquid fish oil and I think that it's affecting my medications. Is that possible? I'm feeling a little depressed, angry and annoyed. Any answers and suggestions appreciated!
Avatar f tn Abilify is often activating. Lamictal can make a person manic in higher doses. I did stay on Lamictal comfortably for 10 years but I was only able to last a week on Abilify as it had a caffeine like effect. If they need you to start on an antipsychotic there are other choices and recently a new antipsychotic (similar to the current ones but each person tolerates each one differently) Saphris was FDA approved so when that is released in the pharmacies that's one more choice.
Avatar m tn Hi, I suffer from severe social anxiety and public speaking, my doctor in Manila prescribed me Abilify and Sertraline. Did anyone use these medicine for social/public anxiety and does it help?
603543 tn?1255294450 I highly recommend you try either generic Wellbutrin or generic Remeron. They are both described at this site: http://health.yahoo.com/depression-medications/atypical-antidepressants-for-depression/healthwise--hw29806.html I just started Remeron, and it seems like I feel a whole lot better than I did when I tried the Effexor and Cymbalta.
574118 tn?1305135284 He substituted tegretol with Abilify as my MS. I heard well of Abilify and I happen to have come across http://www.askdrjones.com/2005/02/14/ranking-the-mood-stabilizers/ . To tell you the truth I became happy because I know tegretol needs blood tests, etc…while abilify has a few side effects except some anxiety. I only became suspicious about its potency as a mood stabilizer. Otherwise why do pdocs recommend always one of the triads (lithium, depakote, tegretol) or lamictal lately.
3145974 tn?1343086198 s not doing as much for my extreme anxiety as it has in the past. The only thing I can think of is to switch from generic fluvoxamine to brand LUVOX CR. Upgrading to the brand often makes a significant difference. If this doesn't work, or if I get desperate, I was thinking about asking my new p-doc for Viibryd. I am hearing good things about it. Desirable side effect profile. You get the sheetz in the beginning but that's life.
Avatar n tn My insurance company has changed Abilify to a "Non-Preferred" drug and suggests Risperidone as an alternative. Would they be classified as equivalents in your opinion? Abilify is working pretty well, but wanted to see what you thought before I talk to my pdoc. THOUGHTS?
980052 tn?1262967079 Hey everyone, I thought I'd add to this to clear a few things up. (1) Lamictal works to counteract & prevent the depression phase of bipolar disorder & Depakote works to counteract & prevent the mania/hypomania phase. (2) Depakote amplifies the effect/dosage of Lamictal if they're taken together. For example, if you're taking 100mg Lamictal and 500mg Depakote, it's like you're taking 200mg Lamictal.
497950 tn?1255863927 I am bipolar I with mixed episodes. (Also with rapid cycling :) fun stuff...) Has anyone tried any medicines that didn't cause weight gain and didn't cost a fortune. I am on Abilify right now but I am very quickly going to have to change because my insurance isn't that great and it cost me $100. I am on Neurontin and Celexa right now which is great but I can still feel myself going up and down all the time.
Avatar f tn The other atypical antipsychotics (also used as mood stabilizers) that have less of a potential of weight gain are Abilify, Fanapt and Saphris. You could ask your psychiatrist about those options. I had similar reactions to Zeldox but each person responds differently to each medication.
Avatar m tn Why not Generic Effexor XR? It comes in a generic now.
Avatar n tn Has any one ever ordered generic Paxil successfully on line? I want to continue with the Paxil but it's a bit pricey.
Avatar f tn Doctor, I am on Abilify....I now think it's either hormones or Abilify...I am now thirty and want to start having a baby next year after we are married....I am going to go on clozapine in the summer though and then try for a baby....the medication Abilify is not good during pregnancy and I'll be taking choline pills as well to help with the baby...
Avatar n tn s a generic for Celexa? My son was taking Lexapro and asked his doctor for the generic version, and she put him on Citolopram, and it's working great for him as well. I've been told that there is no generic for either, but that the ingredients are almost identical.
