abilify

918275 tn?1254068752 I am on Abilify 20mg and I have absolutely no energy. I am in bed for 3 and 4 days at a time. I am getting really discouraged. I am better mentally than I was, but I am zombie like, unable to participate in my own life. Is the Abilify causing this? Or perhaps I need another medication added? I don't know what to think.
1325865 tn?1275121408 Monday, 6/7, I began experiencing lack of coordination - bumping into furniture, walls, door facings, and tripping over things; also dropping things sometimes, but not as much as bumping into things. The fronts of my legs are covered with bruises. It is still occurring, though doesn't seem as severe. I had begun taking Abilify 5 mg po daily on 6/3, so I'd had only 4 doses when this began. Yesterday, I also began having palpitations and tachycardia, so have stopped the Abilify.
Avatar f tn I just found out a friend has been on the medicine venlafaxine for the highest dosage and his psychiatrist put him on abilify too recently. What does this imply? He has schizophrenia? He's a psycho? Any thought would be appreciated!
Avatar m tn I took Abilify and Effexor (seperately) as well, Abilify was the last drug aimed at controling my largely depressive BP. It made me feel blah, less deeply depressed, but it gave me the rare side effect of blurred vision! It was taking a dosage of Effexor which gave me my first flamingly manic episode and caused me to be rediagnosed from severe depression to BP.
5877513 tn?1375915002 s a site specifically geared towards meds, and they have an entire forum section devoted to Abilify. And they have people who know a fair amount about the neurotransmitters.
Avatar f tn My doctor tried to get me to take Abilify....it wont take away "Hallucinations"....will it? I thought she was lying....so I never took it....let alone pick it up! She said it wouldnt, an when I went back to her...she said-we'll how about just the Celebrex? It wont take her away....that means the Abilify would have!!!! SHES A LIAR!!!!....right?
Avatar f tn My view which i expressed here many times yet never took abilify myself is that i have the feeling that lamictal+abilify is not a best combo because both work upwards, i happened to correspond with a lady in a fifferent forum who took both and was anxious so i advised her to ask her pdoc why not lamictal+seroquel and she did and since last january i haven't heard from her because she withdrew from the forum, upon writing to her she said she is doing fine and quite stable, so no need to rea
Avatar f tn And I took Abilify in the past. Abilify is the antipsychotic least likely to cause weight gain but it can happen. Fish oil is good but better is the anti-cholesterol medication Lovaza derived from it which is used experimentally for bipolar. As per weight loss, I'd go on a standard diet or if its of concern go to a nutrionist. Its probably from the Abilify and usually not a problem but you would still have to keep within a normal weight limit in a healthy manner.
12268405 tn?1427853361 I was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder by a primary doctor in a mental health facility. I am currently taking 5mg of Abilify and 30mg of Remeron. Today I am going to see a NP to possibly change my medicine or add something in for anxiety. I will keep this thread updated on what happens. I'm nervous about if the NP is going to change my medication or not. Not to mention that my IBS is acting up, too. I just thought I would introduce myself formally.

Avatar f tn You know you might get an answer on the bipolar forum. They have good experience there. Do you think you might be on too much medication? Having no motivation or likes is a symptom of depression as well.
297937 tn?1309383862 I was hoping I would feel alot better while taking Lexapro & Abilify. It has been 2 months. I don't feel terrible I just don't have any confidence. I suppose it takes alot more time? I'm trying meditation. Any other suggestions?
765828 tn?1306263868 I've been feeling really bummed out ... I recently added Abilify to my list of many medications and it has made a wonderful difference, but you know, nothing is perfect. Has anyone tried Abilify in combination with anything else and had success? Or not? What cheers you up when you're really, really down? When I'm down, I'm down. There's no getting me up - I just lay in bed feeling blah, which is of course, natural. But still, things used to cheer me up.
Avatar f tn I am on zoloft which does not help with my anxiety, does adding abilify help with the anxiety and the depression?
Avatar f tn There is no reason you can't take Abilify with Zoloft. I take Abilify with several other medications. It started working within 2 weeks and my depression decreased dramatically. One common side effect of Abilify is akathisia, a restless need to move. I have that but added propranolol and it stopped it completely with no other side effects.
5377229 tn?1367102940 Sister having horrible reactions during withdrawl from cymbalta and abilify. What can she do to help herself? She w as taken off both on Wednesday and put on prozac. Can she use tylenol for the headache? Someone told her it is not safe to do. Another person suggested melatonin. Is that safe? She is bi polar and has gained over 100 lbs on these meds over the last 6 years. This is ridiculous! Will she gain on prozac also? What is wrong with these psychiatrists, anyway?
Avatar n tn Lightheadedness and uncontrollable shaking are side effects of Abilify. Some other ones are weight gain, nausea and dizziness. Prozac interacts with Abilify and may increase the concentration of Abilify in your body. That may be the reason why you are experiencing the side effects. If you just started on Abilify then you should go talk to your doctor and let him know that you cannot tolerate the side effects and be put on something else.
712802 tn?1274645485 I have been on Cymbalta (30mg 2 X day) for a few weeks (about six) and my doctor gave me some Abilify samples (2mg) to try along with the Cymbalta. I have not been having irrational or psychotic thoughts, but I have been tired a lot. The hope is that the Abilify will give me some energy without side effects. I'm 57 year old male and have been on pain meds for five years due to disc issues, stenosis, severe arthritis, and fibromyalgia.
569043 tn?1216845586 Hi, I have been diagnosed with Manic Bipolar Disorder and I am currently taking Abilify. I was simply wondering if this prescription can possibly affect the patterns of a menstrual cycle??
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist would like to change me from Seroquel to Abilify because Seroquel makes me feel very drowsy. I have read different things about Abilify but the most confusing bit is that some people report drowsiness while others report that they have increased energy and sometimes can't fall asleep. Which is it?
Avatar m tn I tried Abilify with my antidepressant. After a few months on Abilify, my anxiety was actually worse. I noticed that the Abilify caused me to be agitated and restless (like I couldn't get confortable or sit still, kind of jittery) Abilify is really ment more to aid in the treatment of depression than it is anxiety. It's designed to be used as an antidepressant add on drug to give a bit more antidepressant punch rather than an anti-anxiety punch. Bad idea I think.
Avatar f tn Have you had these symptoms checked out by your GP? Abilify does cause shaking and tremors, and just because your psychiatrist hasn't seen these side effects doesn't mean they aren't being caused by the Abilify. I doubt the Abilify is doing much to help you, it's rare to get this many years out of one medication as our bodies build up a tolerance to these types of medications.
Avatar f tn I had been taking Abilify for ten years. Recently I found out that l have prediabetes. I realized that the medicine is probably the cause. I weaned myself off it. I am now completely off it. Do I still have to worry about high blood sugar levels? BTW Ive been off it for at least 5 months and I have not had any problems psych wise.
