569026 tn?1216982293 Taken several SSRIs in the past for anxiety. Adderall XR for ADD, Wellbutrin too. I have been seeing a therapist for about 4 months and he had me go for a psychiatry evaluation a few days ago. The two concrred that I am "complex" and could be a combination of BiPolar 2, Adult ADD and even...Borderline Personality Disorder (god I hate that name). Anyhow, one of the main symptoms we all agreed upon was the mood swings.
1052851 tn?1307741160 Your doctor will be able to work with you and attempt to find a good balance that works for you. Abilify can be used as an add-on therapy for certain conditions, and it can also be used as maintenance therapy for other conditions.
Avatar n tn I went to the local ER again. And they put me on Zoloft and Abilify, as well as Vistiral for my panic attacks. So here's where I'm concerned, because I haven't felt this low in years. Am I going to be okay? With me feeling like this and the Abilify Side effects as scary as they are I just need some reassurance. I forgot how scary this was. I'm not really sleeping or eating. I've lost 20lbs in one week. Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone ever been through this?
Avatar n tn They diagnosed me with PTSD as well as Major Depressive Disorder. They gave me a prescription for Abilify 5mg, Zoloft 100mg and Vistril. I have an appointment Thursday for my intake and then we'll start counseling from there. It does seem like the meds are finally kicking in. Which is a huge relief for me. I wasn't sure I could handle much more. I think there's some confusion about when I went off my Zoloft.
Avatar f tn Back in March 2019, I started to take Abilify to treat PTSD, but then in May 2019 I immediately switched to Risperidone since I didn't find the Abilify to be helpful and it made me extremely bored. I took Risperidone (which I was told could affect blood sugar levels) for a little over a month and stopped abruptly because I realized it wasn't helping and it made me constipated.
Avatar f tn I am bi-polar with severe PTSD. Recently, I was give Lamictal, and had terrible side effects. Then he tried Abilify, with the same results. Now he is talking about (He=doctor) depakote. I am afraid to take this med because I also have hep c, and read where it is exceptionally hard on the liver. What else do they recommend for bi-polar disorder? I have only been diagnosed a year ago, after 35 years of being misdiagnosed with severe depression.
Avatar f tn t much, but my understanding this drug is only officially approved a last-ditch antidepressant for those for whom nothing else worked. I assume there are good reasons for this limited approval. (Keep in mind doctors can use these meds for anything they want once they're approved, but knowing what they're approved for gives some information on what studies showed). As to that particular side effect, any drug that affects the brain can make one sedated or the opposite, overstimulated.
1912569 tn?1485015929 I was diagnosed about a month ago with PTSD and a mood disorder but I'm still wondering if that mood disorder is bipolar. Specifically bp2. I've been put on Abilify 2mg. Before diagnosis and medication this is how my life has been: extreme hypersexuality, which resulted in promiscuity outside of my marriage and now divorce. I was also having lots of mood swings and got mad over stupid little things or cried uncontrollably. Sometimes very hostile and would throw things.
1106568 tn?1258137285 I am usually pretty fine during the day, but at nighttime things get really bad for me. I have a history of sexual abuse so I was wondering if this was PTSD... At nightime I hear voices (which is the schizo), but I also feel as if people are taking advantage of me... it's the worst feeling in the world, I can't control my body and I feel like people are touching me and raping me...

675316 tn?1234215095 hi i have ptsd and its been a life long nightmare for me since age 13. do any of you know what helps? i have other issues but i really want to get things back to normal if possible.
Avatar m tn Abilify is actually an antipsychotic drug that has anti-depressant properties. Usually Abilify is used for schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and as an adjunct therapy (add on therapy) for major depression. The treatment prescribed depends on your psychiatrist’s assessment of your case. However, the dose prescribed is the lowest for the drug. Treatment for depression usually begins with a low dose of SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). Some doctors prescribe benzodiazepines too.
Avatar n tn Alcoholic beverages are best avoided if you have bipolar and take medication. Your psychiatrist probably doesn't want to put you on an anti-depressent because it can make mania from bipolar worse. Tradazone actually is an anti-depresent so I'm assuming that's used for sleep. That works for some people but another option is Rozerem which works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle but that depends on how its working for you.
Avatar n tn my doctor has given to me abilify and wellbutrin, is it good for quit smoke and go school well? i cant go school well. i cant stay in classroom. even i cant go to school. i always want to stay at home. i am out of my home, i quickly want to go back my house. also i smoke 3 packet cigarette in a day. also i have serious sleep disorder. i explained my problems to my doctor. then he gave me wellbutrin and abilify combination. what do you think about it?
Avatar f tn I take Abilify ( 30 mg) once in tha A.M. & have for the past few years. It is a wonder drug as far as I'm considered. I HATE Depakote, the side effects alone I hate (weight gain). I & I speak only from my view that the Depakote is, (for me) the instigator of the weight gain. I AM on Depakote (for seizures). currently & I am SLOWLY going off it WITH my Doc's advice. I am on a HIGH dose & they have me withdrawing from it (250 mg) at a time. The amt.
Avatar f tn thankz for the advice its hard for me to look for medz especially with a mother that just dont understand how serious this disorder is...
Avatar f tn It was said for the past 10 years that it was depression along with PTSD for the past 3 years, it has been suspected by both myself and family members for about 8 years that I had bipolar. I had a lot of Counsellors only willing to look back as far as 'the event' that caused the supposed PTSD to which I now find out was misdiagnosed.
585414 tn?1288941302 Weight gain and the potential of diabetes is a potential for all currently available antipsychotics. Abilify has the least potential to cause this. Abilify and Geodon are activating and can make some people feel anxious. As for Fanapt and Saphris they are newly released and are clinically similar to Abilify but that doesn't mean they will have the exact same profile.
741315 tn?1232458427 I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ptsd. my inital diagnoses was did (disociative personality disorder). I am not sure what is exactly wrong with me and i am convinced that my doctors are not completely sure either. i currently take: * lamictal *citalopram *xanex *risperdone *ambien... its still hard to focus but its a different impedement on the meds its not the same kind of distraction or process. i want to stop taking them but i know how bad things are when i am not on them.
Avatar m tn You were on a pretty high dose of Zoloft for 3 years. If I were you I would call my Dr and tell her you need a much longer tapering plan. In my opinion, 9 days is way too fast to get off of this med. No wonder you're having the shocks and nightmares. No one should have to go through this. Be persistent with your Dr. Remember that she works for you, not the other way around.
471949 tn?1236904026 ve been on a laudry list of meds too but I found abilify and cymbalta to be working nicely for the moment, hang in there I'm sure everything will work out even though it may take some time best of luck!
