Common Questions and Answers about Abilify expensive

abilify

Avatar n tn Hi I was wondering if anyone knew if the medication abilify could cause anxiety. My anxiety is so bad I don't know what to do. I am also on a low dose of prozac for depression. Abilify was added because the dr. thought i might be bi-polar. I dont think i am nor do my friends and family?? But recently the anxiety is unbearable i take xanax when it's really bad but it's has been so bad that i would have to take it once or twice a day and i really don't want to??? any suggestions??
Avatar m tn I have been on Abilify for 2 months or so, give or take. I am not schizophrenic, Bi-Polar, or Autistic. I just suffer from Panic Attacks. My Doctor prescribed me Abilify as an enhancer for my Paxil/Xanax cocktail. Long story short, I was taking 2mg of abilify once a day. Recently My Insurance decided they were going to be the Doctor and my funding for the Abilify ran out. I am not going to pay $543.00 for meds can't afford it and think that price is ludicrous.
3248163 tn?1354847640 There are other medications in the same class as Abilify that may be less expensive (atypical antipsychotics like quetiapine, olanzapine, risperidone, etc.). Have you tried any of those? Lithium is also really cheap. Have you tried it? It does come with side effects, but it is the classic drug for bipolar I. If other things don't work, you should check out these resources to help with the cost of Abilify: http://www.patientassistance.
Avatar m tn I am on 7.5 mg of abilify (morning), and 2.5mg zyprexa (night), which I've been on for a couple of weeks I'm finding the mix better than just the 7.5mg of olanzapine I have been taking previously for 6 years due to the fact I can actually get up in the morning now! I recommend these doses. I would like to know side affects of abilify..ie sex drive, sense of humour, weight loss? And can I use paracetomels with this mix? And green tea slimming pills?
Avatar f tn Only bummer about Abilify is the cost. it can be very expensive. It works for a lot of people and may work for you also. Give the Abilify a good 6 weeks to work at full effect. Keep in touch and if you need me you can always PM me.
574118 tn?1305135284 He substituted tegretol with Abilify as my MS. I heard well of Abilify and I happen to have come across http://www.askdrjones.com/2005/02/14/ranking-the-mood-stabilizers/ . To tell you the truth I became happy because I know tegretol needs blood tests, etc…while abilify has a few side effects except some anxiety. I only became suspicious about its potency as a mood stabilizer. Otherwise why do pdocs recommend always one of the triads (lithium, depakote, tegretol) or lamictal lately.
497950 tn?1255863927 Celexa is not known for causing weight gain so you should be fine in that dept. I'm on Abilify too and it is expensive but I gave up a few other extras to stay on it because it's so hard to find the right medication. Abilify is also not known for weight gain. If you are doing good, try to stay on it because changing meds can be absolute hell. I went off abilify and went through a few months of suffering on other drugs before I came right bck to it.
1742269 tn?1315381633 Ok. I went to the doctor. he is having me try Abilify. I stopped taking my Zyprexa because of what it did to my weight, triglycerides, as well as my blood pressure. When i went off of it, after a few months, my levels are just starting to go back to normal. Anyways, i am taking 10 mg of Lexapro, and 450 of Lamectal, and he said that he felt that i should try Abilify. He made a small under his breathe note that my insurance may not cover it.
Avatar f tn I am currently on Cymbalta, Valium, and six days ago started Abilify after discontinuation of Depakote 500 mg daily due to weight gain of 50 pounds. I've written on here before about this but now would really appreciate some more feedback from anyone on Abilify. I just started it and have already gained five pounds, according to the scales. I am so frustrated that I'm about ready to just get off everything.
Avatar f tn look for higher paying jobs or something if you are too stressed. They are expensive, but get 2nd hand clothes, cheap diapers(start buying early) or even cloth diapers?, try breast feeding/ pumping(formula is expensive). Hit up yard sales and internet sales. :) good luck to you! It is all so worth it!
Avatar n tn To the poster on Abilify -- you should research drugs and not just think about them because they're getting a lot of advertising. Abilify is only approved for depression when all other meds have failed. It has a high side effect profile, and is usually used for augmentation, not stand alone.
Avatar f tn So we are on to the next great med adventure which is Abilify. Thank goodness I have good drug coverage as that one is expensive. I hope this works out well for you.
Avatar f tn Dear run4you. It is worth checking out with the makers of Abilify they have programs for those who cannot afford their medication. I didn't realise abilify was so expensive. I'm on Geodone and that packs a punch in the wallet and I only pay 30%. I was checking out Abilify as a drug consideration for myself. It really seems to be a love/hate drug. The people taking it either really love it and can't say enough good things or it really did a number on them.
Avatar f tn You probably already know this but their are other antipsychotic drugs to choose from that may be less expensive and work just the same for you. Abilify did not work for me. Everyone's body responds diff to diff drugs. What works for some doesn't work for others. If you end up not being able to get Abilify, just know you have other options. It sounds like you will be much better off without this man in your life. Know you can move on and take care of you. My best to you!
Avatar f tn I looked it up bc i wanted to do it for my chicken little but its $2000 for the initial collection and $350 a month to have it stored.
Avatar f tn I am on zoloft which does not help with my anxiety, does adding abilify help with the anxiety and the depression?
Avatar f tn There is no reason you can't take Abilify with Zoloft. I take Abilify with several other medications. It started working within 2 weeks and my depression decreased dramatically. One common side effect of Abilify is akathisia, a restless need to move. I have that but added propranolol and it stopped it completely with no other side effects.
Avatar n tn Lightheadedness and uncontrollable shaking are side effects of Abilify. Some other ones are weight gain, nausea and dizziness. Prozac interacts with Abilify and may increase the concentration of Abilify in your body. That may be the reason why you are experiencing the side effects. If you just started on Abilify then you should go talk to your doctor and let him know that you cannot tolerate the side effects and be put on something else.
712802 tn?1274645485 I have been on Cymbalta (30mg 2 X day) for a few weeks (about six) and my doctor gave me some Abilify samples (2mg) to try along with the Cymbalta. I have not been having irrational or psychotic thoughts, but I have been tired a lot. The hope is that the Abilify will give me some energy without side effects. I'm 57 year old male and have been on pain meds for five years due to disc issues, stenosis, severe arthritis, and fibromyalgia.
569043 tn?1216845586 Hi, I have been diagnosed with Manic Bipolar Disorder and I am currently taking Abilify. I was simply wondering if this prescription can possibly affect the patterns of a menstrual cycle??
Avatar m tn I tried Abilify with my antidepressant. After a few months on Abilify, my anxiety was actually worse. I noticed that the Abilify caused me to be agitated and restless (like I couldn't get confortable or sit still, kind of jittery) Abilify is really ment more to aid in the treatment of depression than it is anxiety. It's designed to be used as an antidepressant add on drug to give a bit more antidepressant punch rather than an anti-anxiety punch. Bad idea I think.
Avatar f tn Have you had these symptoms checked out by your GP? Abilify does cause shaking and tremors, and just because your psychiatrist hasn't seen these side effects doesn't mean they aren't being caused by the Abilify. I doubt the Abilify is doing much to help you, it's rare to get this many years out of one medication as our bodies build up a tolerance to these types of medications.
