Abilify dosage in children

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify dosage in children

abilify

Avatar f tn Regardless of what they are treating any decrease in the dose of Abilify would lead to it being less effective so that should be discussed with a psychiatrist and as Tegretol (one of the names for the medication you are speaking of) that medication has a short half life (time it remains in the blood stream) so it can easily run out during the day and the dosage and titration and spacing of it should be discussed with a psychiatrist to prevent this from happenning.
407790 tn?1397761026 What kinds of treatments have you tried and when were you told your depression was treatment resistant? Usually, medications like Abilify are used as a supplemental medication, in addition to an antidepressant one is already taking. The idea is for the Abilify to help the AD work a little bit better. Are you on an AD now, if so, which one, and what's your dose? If you can share a little bit more about your history, we can advise you a little bit better.
Avatar m tn They started me on zoloft, then prozac, then lexapro, then back to zoloft at a higher dosage. Then around 7 years ago I started getting panic attacks, so they put me on some benzos along with cymbalta and abilify. Cymbalta was the worst drug I'd ever been on; I felt like a walking zombie... not depressed, just not anything at all. I've been through three or four different talk therapists and a handful of psychiatrists.
526901 tn?1216334227 This is provided Abilify helps you, if not, I would see about switching too. Geodon is in the family with Abilify and it works fast too, like within a couple weeks. Just a suggestion. Good Luck, I know how frustrating it is finding the right medication. I've been on over 47 kinds of meds over the last 10 years. Cymbalta was another one that helped my panic attacks, I went on that after being on Prozac for 8 or 9 years. It works faster than Prozac but slower than celexa & lexapro.
574118 tn?1305135284 So if I can find some supplement adjunct to my AD then i can lessen my dosage of AD which in fact i tried it once and found myself doing well but my energy was low. I heard that addreal can be useful. Perhaps abilify is an AP that works alone without an AD. Would you kindly suggest something. i.e. abilify say if it doesn't really need an AD.
Avatar n tn Your dosage of abilify will maintain your therapeutic level of the chemical until your next dose, for 24 hours. Taking it at night provides benefits that last throughout the next day.
Avatar f tn After years of continued difficulty with bouts of depression, anger/irritability, sleep, I saw a new doctor in 2015 who prescribed Abilify 5mg along with Adderall. He mentioned that he thought I continued to have issues because of the Prozac but did not officially give me a diagnosis. I immediately saw the benefits. However, at the end of 2016 I went through a severe bout of depression and discontinued the Abilify.
Avatar f tn So apparently I am FINALLY going from my manic stage to my depression and boy does it really suck... I've gone from 90 to 0 and it's taking everything in me to stay on course when all I want to do is crawl into a hole and just sleep but with a household to run and two children to take care of I feel like I'm walking in a river against the current with 50lbs on my back...
Avatar n tn He was taking all of these up until about two weeks ago and at that time, he stopped taking Abilify. He was prescribed Lamictal in lieu of Abilify, but we had to wait until we got the correct dosage before taking him off Abilify. His tics seemed to be less intense while on Abilify. Could this be my imagination since at this time the tics and more intense and prevalent?
Avatar f tn Hi all, I've just found out I am pregnant and I have been taking Abilify (Aripirazole) and Lamictal (Lamotrigine) for the last year, against bipolar disorder, my doctor recommended to reduce it slowly and then stop it. He said that I have taken it so far wouldn't harm the baby. I am still very worried and wondered if anybody has any experience with this. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I just found out a friend has been on the medicine venlafaxine for the highest dosage and his psychiatrist put him on abilify too recently. What does this imply? He has schizophrenia? He's a psycho? Any thought would be appreciated!
Avatar f tn 00 am and 1 pill at night at 7:00 pm. with benztropine .05mg the same amount of pills for the side effects of abilify; however that only worked for a while. Then my psychiatrist with experience for 46 years in the mental health field told me to take Benadryl for the akathisia attacks. This worked great for a long time; however eventually it did not work anymore either. Then I discovered from an answer to prayer to take Queen's Delight.
Avatar f tn Abilify is often activating. Lamictal can make a person manic in higher doses. I did stay on Lamictal comfortably for 10 years but I was only able to last a week on Abilify as it had a caffeine like effect. If they need you to start on an antipsychotic there are other choices and recently a new antipsychotic (similar to the current ones but each person tolerates each one differently) Saphris was FDA approved so when that is released in the pharmacies that's one more choice.
899491 tn?1243773627 When I first started Abilify it was a strange feeling. All the psychosis disappeared and I felt very satisfied with my life. Then the drug had a "half life"...it would work in the morning and petered out in the afternoon. I ran out of my RX and I couldn't wait to get it refilled! I felt like a drug fiend! 10 mg worked well for several weeks and now I'm experiencing those psychosis feelings again. Yesterday was especially trying. I lost those good feelings.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Abilify for about 3 years now, and it's the only med I'm on now, and it seems to be working fine. I used to be on Depakote, but I gained about 50 lbs, so my doctor took me off of it and upped my Abilify. I take 30 mg a day. I'm scared after a few years I'll develop the twitching and muscle stifftness ( tardive dyskensia ) but I've resolved not to live in fear of it. Abilify has worked for me now, so I recommend it.
1110718 tn?1258435594 They took her off the concerta and left her on the abilify because they stated that the Concerta can make children be more aggresive and irritated and she does seem a little more laid back. But what should I do besides having her on meds and taking her a therapist? I do not know what the next step would be if this continues. I feel like I do not know what to do any more to help her.
Avatar m tn Abilify is an antipsychotic used as a mood stabilizer. It is relatively effective and its usual side effect being that its activating, meaning that it instead of making a person tired it can keep them awake. Quite common and happened to me as well as other people. It would help on bipolar but its doubtful it would help sleep but you could ask your psychiatrist more about this.
Avatar f tn If it is bot helping, inform your doctor for proper management. A change of medication or shift in dosage my be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
1240654 tn?1268317515 I recently staring using Abilify for my bipolar disorder...wanted to know if anyone else was on it and about the side affects anyone may be experiencing, if any... I've been using it for maybe 2 months now.
697574 tn?1273955747 Doctors normally start us out on a low dosage of these medications, this may be all we need. But in 2-3 months they want to see us again to determine if the dosage is working or not and it is at this time they normally up the dosage if it's not. This is normal, so contact your doctor to let him know it's not working, he will either tweak the dosage or sometimes they change the medication to a different one. Anytime you feel your medication isn't working let your doctor know.

497950 tn?1255863927 There are so many different combos out there. Most of the Antipsychotics will make you gain weight and then there is Depakote (or Depabloat! LOL) It will too. Sometimes, its a matter of the cocktail - one anti with one kind of mood stabilizer will make you gain more. It's a tricky thing...
Avatar f tn After trying different meds, the combo that seemed to work best is 2 mg Abilify w/200 mg. Zoloft, in the morning, with 1 mg. xanax up to 4 times a day as needed. After about 10 months, he is groggy, has short term memory loss, sleeps a lot, and seems to be "out of it" a lot. Is it the Xanax? I am worried sick.
Avatar m tn I took Abilify and Effexor (seperately) as well, Abilify was the last drug aimed at controling my largely depressive BP. It made me feel blah, less deeply depressed, but it gave me the rare side effect of blurred vision! It was taking a dosage of Effexor which gave me my first flamingly manic episode and caused me to be rediagnosed from severe depression to BP.
Avatar n tn A child who is a danger to themselves, and you have to child proofed you house to extreme measures to keep them safe. All I was asking if tremors are a typical side effect of Abilify in children. Not asking for criticism.
