abilify

1356915 tn?1277344103 It (Abilify) was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for schizophrenia on November 15, 2002, for acute manic and mixed episodes associated with bipolar disorder on October 1, 2004, and as an adjunct for major depressive disorder on November 20, 2007.
407790 tn?1397761026 re wise to have concerns about adding the Abilify, and who knows, you may do just fine on it, with no issues whatsoever, but there ARE risks to consider, especially with the multiple meds you're on. Hopefully I didn't confuse you more, lol. I'm just trying to give you my opinion, while I think medications really are a Godsend for a lot of people, I think sometimes people are put on too much, which ends up making them worse instead of better in the long run.
899491 tn?1243773627 I have not heard of antipsychotics being addictive but I do know Abilify is activating and can disrupt sleep. As well although its FDA approved for bipolar its primary use is as an antipsychotic so it may not be as effective as a standard mood stabilizer.
Avatar n tn At one point I was on both Effexor and Abilify, then my doctor took me off the Effexor. I have done fine on Abilify alone - but that is me. Did your doctor put you on all 3 of these meds at once - or at different times, in response to symptoms you were having? I would speak with your M.D. at your next visit and tell him or her that you don't want to be on so much medication. See what he or she says. I always prefer to side with the doctor when it comes to this sort of thing.
Avatar m tn My Dr and I discussed it and he said i may be a good "candidate" for Abilify. Right now im taking 100mgs of zoloft, and .05mgs of lorazepham. Been on those meds for 2 months now and while im not having as much panick attacks, its still there and im having trouble sleeping. Im seeing a threapist tomarrow as my Dr told me to do,cause he wants to get a second opioun on weather i should take abilify or not...Has anyone here taken that medication? What are your thoughts?
526901 tn?1216334227 t know if I should request a new medication (but I have tried a few before and in between the dosage switch and none work that well ) or if I should go back on the higher dosage and risk panic attacks. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas on what they might do in my situation?
497950 tn?1255863927 There are so many different combos out there. Most of the Antipsychotics will make you gain weight and then there is Depakote (or Depabloat! LOL) It will too. Sometimes, its a matter of the cocktail - one anti with one kind of mood stabilizer will make you gain more. It's a tricky thing...
574118 tn?1305135284 So if I can find some supplement adjunct to my AD then i can lessen my dosage of AD which in fact i tried it once and found myself doing well but my energy was low. I heard that addreal can be useful. Perhaps abilify is an AP that works alone without an AD. Would you kindly suggest something. i.e. abilify say if it doesn't really need an AD.
Avatar m tn Then around 7 years ago I started getting panic attacks, so they put me on some benzos along with cymbalta and abilify. Cymbalta was the worst drug I'd ever been on; I felt like a walking zombie... not depressed, just not anything at all. I've been through three or four different talk therapists and a handful of psychiatrists. I've given up on both due to their lack of ability to listen (anyone else notice that?). I now just receive my rxs from my GP, which is fine...
1212999 tn?1272305203 trileptal makes me dizzy as hell for a week or so until i get used to it and my doc is aware of this but i am starting to dread trilpetal dosage adjustments.
Avatar n tn Your dosage of abilify will maintain your therapeutic level of the chemical until your next dose, for 24 hours. Taking it at night provides benefits that last throughout the next day.
Avatar f tn Once I reached the therapeutic dose of Lamictal, I stopped Abilify and immediately experienced rapid fluctuations between depression and mania and my therapist told me to go back on Abilify at a reduced 2.5 mg. In addition, since beginning Lamictal + Abilify I have consistently gained 40 pounds.... 10 of which were gained within the 2 weeks I restarted Abilify at 2.5 mg. As someone who has a history of body dysmorphia and eating disorders, I NEED a different treatment.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I've just found out I am pregnant and I have been taking Abilify (Aripirazole) and Lamictal (Lamotrigine) for the last year, against bipolar disorder, my doctor recommended to reduce it slowly and then stop it. He said that I have taken it so far wouldn't harm the baby. I am still very worried and wondered if anybody has any experience with this. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I just found out a friend has been on the medicine venlafaxine for the highest dosage and his psychiatrist put him on abilify too recently. What does this imply? He has schizophrenia? He's a psycho? Any thought would be appreciated!
Avatar n tn t want to add deppression on because of the meds, if this is the case. Now the dr. wants me to try the 5 mg of lexapro and 2.5 mg of the abilify together, but I'm scared! I hate taking meds anyway but want to feel better. I have also been taking .25 mgs of zanax 3 times a day. I don't want to become a zombie!

918275 tn?1254068752 That's an unusual reaction to Abilify. I only had that reaction to higher amounts of Depakoate or older line antipsychotics like Haldol. Maybe its just your specific reaction to that particular medication. Speak to your psychiatrist about other approved options you haven't tried.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Wellbutrin XR, Lexapro and Klonopin (as needed.) Last year we added Abilify and the results were incredible. I came out of a very dark place, laughed, chatted, felt positive emotions and, for the first time in 15 years, felt like a "normal" person. But after a month or so I developed severe akathisia. It was so unbearable that I stopped taking Abilify. This year I moved to another state and began seeing a new psychiatrist. I decided to give Abilify another try.
Avatar f tn Okay, I had a terrible experience with Abilify in 2006. I was given the prescription as I left the hospital after having my youngest son and I took it for about 3 weeks or so. I was on the generic version (which is why I couldn't remember the name of it until I just recently received my records.) The first thing was I became really jittery in a very physical way. Now, I am normally a fidgeter but this was really bad. I always had to be tapping my foot or my hand. Rocking quickly.
190673 tn?1259203266 A lot of times this can be remedied by changing the dosing schedule, ie, breaking up a once daily dose into twice a day...or changing the time of administration. Generally speaking, these types of meds (like Effexor) improve with INCREASING dosages, not decreasing. Your dose is average....there is still some room to increase. Have you noticed a significant improvement in the past when increasing the dose? If so, you may want to discuss some changes with your doctor.
Avatar f tn My wife seems to have most of them some worst than others. Mainly DTI and mouth problems. We have been to our Dr. and he gave us noritripilen? No help there.
1240654 tn?1268317515 I mix seroquel and abilify without issued only the Abilify has finally gotten my appetite under control and im losing weight Seroquel causes weight gain but nothing like the weight gain with Zyprexa.
697574 tn?1273955747 But in 2-3 months they want to see us again to determine if the dosage is working or not and it is at this time they normally up the dosage if it's not. This is normal, so contact your doctor to let him know it's not working, he will either tweak the dosage or sometimes they change the medication to a different one. Anytime you feel your medication isn't working let your doctor know. Take care.
