I tried Abilify with my antidepressant. After a few months on Abilify, my anxiety was actually worse. I noticed that the Abilify caused me to be agitated and restless (like I couldn't get confortable or sit still, kind of jittery) Abilify is really ment more to aid in the treatment of depression than it is anxiety. It's designed to be used as an antidepressant add on drug to give a bit more antidepressant punch rather than an anti-anxiety punch. Bad idea I think.

Sleep is interesting while being on Abilify. When I do go to sleep it's a deep sleep for two hours then I wake up. This pattern goes on throughout the night until morning. I do get my eight hours of sleep. When I started Abilify I couldn't wait for my next dose to increase. I started at 5mg then up to 10mg then I can't wait for my next appointment for the next higher dose. Could this drug be addictive?

I started taking Abilify this weekend with my Lamictal and I was a stoned out wierdo all weekend! I wasn't sure if it was the Abilify, but I didn't take the dosage last night (I started at the daytime and switched to night because I was so sleepy!! - my pdoc told me to do that if it happened), and when it left my system, the fog lifted. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if Abilify has helped for the depressive side of bipolar II? Also I am wondering about something. I am newly diagnosed and under my psych's care I have only had one hypomanic episode. Preventing hypomanic episodes seems to be what my doc is focusing most strongly on, but what about the depressive side, which is where I have the most trouble.

I suffer from bi-polar and sleep disorders. My dr. prescribed many different things and nothing worked until the dosage of Seroquel was up to 600mg per night. Even at this dose I'm not sleeping more than 2 hours at a time. My weight has soared from 130 to 195 over the past couple of years.

How many of you have been on the same treatment for a long time? Like years? I was diagnosed a few months ago, and am finally starting to feel normal. I never knew normal. :) I'd like to stay on the meds long term, and I read on the abilify site that treatment shouldn't be longer than a year or so. What if something's working for you? Can't you just stay on it? Seems silly to me.

Hi, I'm bipolar I and have been on antipsychotics for little over a year now. Within a few weeks I'll be tapering off Abilify with the help of my pdoc. I'm happy about it, but I still wonder what your experiences have been with lamotrigine (Lamictal) as a monotherapy for bipolar I. I'd really hate to get manic again, but I also feel that Abilify is holding me back in my studies. Any tips and suggestions?
