148588 tn?1465778809 For example, Gilead’s own Stribild, a costly new four-in-one combo treatment for HIV/AIDS, is $80 per pill. At $1,000 per pill, Sovaldi costs 1,100% more than Stribild, the most-expensive AIDS combo drug on the market. In addition, Gilead is charging a higher price for this drug even though the cost to produce it is small. According to industry reports, Gilead produces Sovaldi for approximately $1.00 per gram (with only 10 to 30 grams needed to successfully treat patients with Hepatitis C).
612551 tn?1450022175 00 Wow, looking into the issue I see the medication is listed at over 1,600 for 90 pills, or over $18 per pill. This is enough to cause anxiety by itself. We paid our $1,250 plus our per prescription copay of $40. Happily we will pay only the copay for future refills this calendar year. These numbers are not exact, I don't remember the exact change and resolution between the $1,290 and the list price.
574118 tn?1305135284 Ablify is from what I know like many other atypicals - it works well for many patients so might for you - the thing to ask is what is the cost per dose and what are the side effects - the thing about ablify and the others over lithium or other older drugs is they are not generic and thus pharma companies can charge for them - they may be incredibly good but if the cost per dose is 3xtimes the cost per does of something 90% as effective then think about it. You need a good doc.
1221258 tn?1267542429 The potential of long term movement disorders for all atypical antipsychotics is 1% to 2.5% per person per year. For typical antipsychotics such as Haldol its 5% per person per years. That's what my psychiatrist informed me. That can occur with all currently antipsychotics except for Clozaril. That can be monitored for but its important not to confuse temporary movement disorders with anything worse as those are very common.
16773127 tn?1451336964 I suffer from bi-polar and sleep disorders. My dr. prescribed many different things and nothing worked until the dosage of Seroquel was up to 600mg per night. Even at this dose I'm not sleeping more than 2 hours at a time. My weight has soared from 130 to 195 over the past couple of years.
3248163 tn?1354847640 I take Abilify and it cost about $650 a month. My insurance company would like me to try something else but since it is still in their formulary they have to cover it.
Avatar f tn My doctor recommended cutting back on the Effexor and adding a mood stabilizer called Abilify to help bring some mood balance and joy back into my life, she said it would also help me sleep. The only problem is I have a high deductible on my insurance and the pharmacy said the Abilify was 700 bucks for a 30 days supply unit I reach my deductible of $1250. There is no way I can afford that!
Avatar f tn Then, of course when you hit the donut hole after$2500 has been spent on meds the cost goes up to half the actual cost - $300 a month. Part D is not very good at reducing the cost of meds until you have spent more than $4550 in a year. If your income is low enough to get medicaid as your supplement then your med cost goes down below $10. Check with your county social services about getting help. I am always amazed that people think Part D is a cureall for getting your meds.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking Wellbutrin for my depression. My question is can I take Abilify with Wellbutrin?
Avatar n tn At one point I was on both Effexor and Abilify, then my doctor took me off the Effexor. I have done fine on Abilify alone - but that is me. Did your doctor put you on all 3 of these meds at once - or at different times, in response to symptoms you were having? I would speak with your M.D. at your next visit and tell him or her that you don't want to be on so much medication. See what he or she says. I always prefer to side with the doctor when it comes to this sort of thing.
Avatar m tn I saw this yesterday, printed it out and have read it several times. And I'll probably have to read it several more before I can completely wrap my head around it. The good news, as I see it, is the clarity it brings to the subject of actual cost of new medications to payers. "The $1000 dollar pill" or the "$1125 pill" has gotten so much play in the media. (Doctors aren't immune to this nor are many who work in the insurance industry.
599945 tn?1240382354 have already gone up a size on abilify even on healthy diet and taking diet pill. zantrex 3.
Avatar f tn 00 am and 1 pill at night at 7:00 pm. with benztropine .05mg the same amount of pills for the side effects of abilify; however that only worked for a while. Then my psychiatrist with experience for 46 years in the mental health field told me to take Benadryl for the akathisia attacks. This worked great for a long time; however eventually it did not work anymore either. Then I discovered from an answer to prayer to take Queen's Delight.
Avatar m tn I am on 7.5 mg of abilify (morning), and 2.5mg zyprexa (night), which I've been on for a couple of weeks I'm finding the mix better than just the 7.5mg of olanzapine I have been taking previously for 6 years due to the fact I can actually get up in the morning now! I recommend these doses. I would like to know side affects of abilify..ie sex drive, sense of humour, weight loss? And can I use paracetomels with this mix? And green tea slimming pills?
Avatar f tn Only bummer about Abilify is the cost. it can be very expensive. It works for a lot of people and may work for you also. Give the Abilify a good 6 weeks to work at full effect. Keep in touch and if you need me you can always PM me.
Avatar f tn I dont think Abilify works for depression alone. I ran out of my effexor xr (antidepressant) and only took my abilify and was a real mess for a week.. It was as if i werent taking anything. The abilify doesnt work alone in my case. Its only a booster pill, so to speak. I was tearful and restless without my antidepressant. However that could have been withdrawal or something.
Avatar f tn Sorry I don't have Kaiser health insurance, maybe someone else here does, but those prices sound about right. Those are your "co-pay costs", the "actual cost" is thousands of dollars per month as you have heard. I had Blue Cross of California during treatment and my co-pay cost were similar to the prices you quoted.
Avatar m tn I took Abilify for some days and now i feel twitching in my forehead. It is not painful but it makes unfocused when trying to study. Are there any treatments? The psychiatrist who gave me Abilify said it would go away by itself but it's been over a week now and is still there.
Avatar f tn Everything is relative-- but yes, that is a large dose. Consider that Percocet tablets-- medications used to treat surgical pain in dose ranges of 1-2 every 4 hours-- contain 5-10 mg of oxycodone. You are taking the equivalent of 70 of the 5 mg tabs every day, when the dose after major surgery would be on the order of 5-10 tablets per day. The largest dose I've seen in a patient addicted to oxycodone is about 700 mg per day.
712802 tn?1274645485 I have been on Cymbalta (30mg 2 X day) for a few weeks (about six) and my doctor gave me some Abilify samples (2mg) to try along with the Cymbalta. I have not been having irrational or psychotic thoughts, but I have been tired a lot. The hope is that the Abilify will give me some energy without side effects. I'm 57 year old male and have been on pain meds for five years due to disc issues, stenosis, severe arthritis, and fibromyalgia.
13126824 tn?1428652469 I take Zoloft and Abilify for bipolar disorder. My sugar levels were heightened due to Abilify, but I am now taking Metfforman to level out my sugar level because Abilify has the ability to heighten sugar levels. I am not a diabetic. Does cholesterol have anything to do with this cramping?
Avatar f tn i am currently taking 10mg of olanzepine, and 200mg carbemazepine per day for bipolar. i am seeing a new psychiatrist who is strongly suggesting that i stop the olanzepine because i have greatly elevated levels of cholesterol and have gained 50 pounds. (have been on said meds for about 5 years). her 2 suggestions are abilify and ziprasidone--i know nothing about either of these meds and would greatly appreciate any info. and input you may have.
