Yesterday I had a follow-up appointment at the health dept. and my blood pressure was 128/90 w/ pulse of 106. The week before it was 140/90 pulse 90. Today I checked it and this morning I did it lying down in bed so it was good. This afternoon 116/85 pulse at 82. Better, but still high on my bottom # along with pulse. Yesterday, I was diagnosed with hypertenstion and put on Lisinopril. Well...I read on it and saw that it is bad for my kidneys and causes Lithium toxicity.

Saw doc again today. He didn't say there was anything of concern in my blood work. He asked about my drinking and I told time how much I drank but I've stopped. My blood pressure was a little low but he didn't say anything about that. Didn't say anything about my dizziness/vertigo. Just told me to exercise, and eat better. Gave me Abilify instead of that Seroquel and told me to come back in two weeks.

i was takes off the abilify and serquel because it was causing my blood sugars to go up and my cholestrol and blood pressure. plus i gained 20 pounds. but i was happy felt good now i'm back to feeling depressed and sick.

As you are changing things around hard to say where the dizziness is coming from. Some medications cause dizziness by a blood pressure drop but neither of those two medications you mentioned usually cause that. Sometimes dizziness is just a standard side effect when starting a medication that goes away in time.

I developed akathisia, a movement disorder that stops when you stop the med. I take propranolol, which is primarily used for high blood pressure and anxiety and also takes care of akathisia. I have no other side effects from Abilify. It has worked well for me in dealing with depression.

I was diagnosed with BP II with more noticeable depression as well. I'm actually on a combo of Wellbutrin/Abilfy and it's the PERFECT combo for me. I was on lamictal and it made me crazy and had awful side effects. I've never taken Prozac or Lithium, as I've found a combo that works for me. I take 250mg Wellbutrin twice a day and 15mg of Abilify. I also take an anti-anxiety med and sleeping pills as needed.

My Pdoc put me on Inderal for my high blood pressure/hypertension. She wants to wean me off of Lithium onto Abilify. I am supposed to take it for a whole month along with my entire dose of Lithium (1450mg). She also wants to keep me on Wellbutrin 300mg. Will this feeling go away? I tossed and turned with this crawling feeling all last night. I am having it bad right now.

Sorry I didn't include she has high blood pressure but was removed from all of her medication and is now only taking abilify for ADD. Within the last hour she passed out again at the hospital, the doctors laid her on her stomach instead of her back this time and her breathing remained normal, she seized very little and came out of it within 7 minutes.

I stopped taking my Zyprexa because of what it did to my weight, triglycerides, as well as my blood pressure. When i went off of it, after a few months, my levels are just starting to go back to normal. Anyways, i am taking 10 mg of Lexapro, and 450 of Lamectal, and he said that he felt that i should try Abilify. He made a small under his breathe note that my insurance may not cover it.

Those are very unusual side effects for Abilify but medications can interact and lithium is a good medication but it can have interactions with other medications although those two medications can be and are often safely given together. Speak to the psychiatrist more about this. They can't do a blood test for Abilify for blood levels but they can with lithium. Trileptal unlike Tegretol or lithium does not generally require a blood test.

Hair loss is not listed as a side effect of Abilify. I would address this right away with an Endocrinologist, as it may be related to your thyroid which can also cause anxiety and depression. Hair coming out in small clumps is a symptom of an underlying condition and blood work can determine what this is. Don't stop the Abilify, but make the prescribing doctor aware of what you're experiencing........

I did get akathisia but opted to stay on Abilify because it helped me so much. My pdoc added propranolol, a beta blocker that lowers blood pressure, decreases anxiety AND takes care of akathisia. The combination of propranolol with the Abilify allows me to continue with the Abilify. We have to remember that every medication has possible side effects and everyone reacts differently regarding side effects. What you experience may be quite different from what everyone has posted.

I am a big proponent of medication while you learn about your anxiety through talk therapy. If you have/had high blood pressure would you take bp medication if diet and exercise alone was not enough or if you have/had high cholesterol would you take a statin if you could not get the number down? This is no different...while you are going through this, and this helps, why not focus on learning about the anxiety while you are on it if it is working?

) Lots of people on antidepressants. Clonidine is usually used to lower blood pressure, is that why you are on it? Again, that should preclude you from a job. It does have some side effects that might make something like using heavy machinery a bit difficult? But don't think that is fully restricted and most jobs would not be effected. And Abilify is like Prozac used to treat diagnosed mental health disorders. Taking them is good, means you are treating mental health.

I am running out of patience. My blood pressure is out of control. I am about ready to quit taking meds all together and just be crazy and hate everything and everybody like I used to. Why would the drug companies do this to people? Why would they make people suffer??? I have a variety of issues so it is very hard for me to stay with a counselor and trust or feel like there is any sort of connection whatsoever to a counselor.

My 7 yr old son was prescribed Abilify 5 mg to be taken once a day. He started the medicine on Thursday and Saturday afternoon we were in the emergency room because he was urinating blood. The doctor ran a urine test and blood work and said that my son didn't have a bladder infection and that it was medicine related. He also ran some blood work and said that he did not have any kidney or liver damage. We stopped giving him the medicine on Sunday and now he is fine.

When I looked up weight gain and bipolar medications, Abilify was at the bottom of the list for weight gain, Geodon people gained the least then Abilify. I'm on 2mg. of Abilify and in the begining you tend to feel sleepy, that's why they start you on it at bedtime. I would be surprised if Abilify caused a racing heart but you definately have to tell your doc about that. I was also on Wellbutrin and had to come off because it caused to much anxiety.

My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Night sweats high blood pressure and serious tardive discasia.

Hi The only one reason i can think of right now, is that abilify may cause you to have high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). This is why they tell you to talk to your doctor if you develop any sign of this such as increased thirst or urination, excessive hunger, or weakness. More crucial if you are already diabetic you should regularly check your blood sugar levels.

My doc put me on abilify yesterday and warned me that it can cause serious blood sugar problems. This scares me because I have a family history of diabetes. Can a healthier diet and excercise plan help offset this possible side effect, or does it just happen anyway, no matter what your diet? Also, is there any other things I need to be warned about or watch for while I start this new medication? I am already taking lamictal as well.

it made me really dizzy and I could tell it was doing something to my blood pressure (either too low or too fast I couldn't tell) It helped tremendously in calming me down and getting my brain straightened out and it stopped the racing thoughts for me. When I first started it, it knocked me out and it took a couple of weeks to adjust to the sleepiness. Oh yeah it made me jaw tense up also. But it was definitely worth it.

Hey all, new to this page. I've written in the alcoholism part before. Anyway, I've recently been diagnosed with bipolar 2 which I've assumed for years! I'm on abilify, lamictal, celexa, and ativan. I'm constantly fidgety and results, and can't concentrate on anything at all right now! There's more too but those are the most annoying right now. Am I still manic or is this side effects from my medication? Any advice would be helpful.

Unfortunately, i had forgotton i was on it. He said my bloodwork on my enlarged prostate was normal, but the day before, my urolist said my prostate was worse, & im holding 24 percent, still. Originally, i didnt know any better, & i realised something ws wrong when snot looking material came out of my penis. I ws lucky cas i only had to be cath. only 1 month.
