The pregnancy was unplanned and I kept taking the eds up until the 7th week, because I didn't know I was pregnant. I am now nervous to nhave this baby, because of the risks of birth defects. What are the chances it could happen? Should I have this baby? Am I over reacting?
When I found out I was pregnant the Drs took me off all my Meds because of potential birth defects. Now I'm so moody, depressed, crying a lot, and just feeling deflated. I was wondering if this is because of the pregnancy or am I having my symptoms return? Anyone else Going through the same thing?
A genetics doctor looked up the information and studies and showed me that the Seroquel does not cause birth defects. There were some children that had heart problems or respitory problems. The indepth ultrasounds showed her lungs fully developed, that she has been practicing breathing, and that she has no heart defects. I painfully gave up the dream of having another child due to what happened in my first pregnancy. My major was Child Development so I love children.
They cause severe birth defects. I have to stop them. That is another reason I have to stop them. I can't let these drugs control my life. Not any more. I have lived on pills for the past 3 years. I have lived with the emotional numbness and severe memory loss (that is destroying my job) and constant fogginess and the depression coming back. I have been a good little robot and taken my pills and suffered as a result. Emotionally I don't feel much or care about anything any more.
Most of them are category C (including Remeron), which means there isn't evidence either way in humans about birth defects and that there may be some evidence of birth defects in animal models. Lamotrigine (Lamictal) looks like one of the better choices for bipolar (and it's especially good for the depressive phase), although some sources I found suggested first generation antipsychotics.
Does anyone know of any treatment that works. Right now I'm participating in a reserach program using Abilify and Prozac. None of these stop my racing thoughts though. Anyone with some information?
My anxiety is through the roof and I can't get a grip. I just feel so defeated. The psych. wanted to try Abilify but said while it's supposed to not have a weight gain effect, one of his patients could not stop eating on it. Not my first choice as I'm overweight and was hoping to have my system free of all meds to kick up my weight loss efforts.
