abilify and valium

I am currently on Cymbalta, Valium, and six days ago started Abilify after discontinuation of Depakote 500 mg daily due to weight gain of 50 pounds. I've written on here before about this but now would really appreciate some more feedback from anyone on Abilify. I just started it and have already gained five pounds, according to the scales. I am so frustrated that I'm about ready to just get off everything.

I have always suffered from major depression and a mood disorder even though they don't come out and say it's bipolar, they treat is as such and it's helped. I've been on Abilify for a year now and I was doing so well but now I'm tired all the time, have no motivation, and feel overall blah! I see my pdoc next week and I wonder if I need a new mood stabelizer or a higher dose of Abilify.

I am currently taking Seroquel, Klonopin, Depakote, Cymbalta, and Abilify (day2). I had been taking 600mg of the seroquel and my md lowered my dosage to 300 adding 5mg of abilify. For the past two days (first two days on Abilify) I have experienced extreme mood swings and seem to snap at relatively small things.

What you experience may be quite different from what everyone has posted. You might take Abilify and find that you have no side effects and it helps you and you will continue to take it. You might find that you get side effects that you can't tolerate and then you will quit it. The only way to find out is by trying it.

I am so sorry to hear of your condition. I have been on Valium since 1997 when my 20 year old daughter passed away. I guess I have never came to grips with it. I have been diagnosed with clinical depression and high anxiety. Valium calms me down and let's me have a better quality of life. Everyone will probably disagree and tell you to get yourself off but at what price. Having to deal with a disease that that never stops. If it helps do what you have to do. Enjoy live, it is to short.

I am on 90 mg of Cymbalta and just started 15 mg of Abilify for depression. My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have only started the Abilify so far on day 3 … I was supposed to start together but I dropped the pristiq bottle and pills fell on floor now because of contamination ocd I can’t take them and insurance won’t pay for a refill yet so doctor says just take the Abilify for now , I’m noticing it is helping me to change my behavior versus the ssri just kinda helped me manage my existing behaviors but never had courage or motivation to change my behaviors so I’m hoping that’s where Abilify will come

Hi I have been on 5 mg of abilify and also klonopin since jan..09.Recently i have been having severe dizziness.,y ear hurt so wen to dr put me on antibotic...Abilify has helped my depression so much but im wondering f it would start causing dizziness after being on it since jan 20 09...

I was originally on Paxil then my Pschy took me off of it and put me on Abilify which put me into a manic state and landed me in a psych ward. I have never had a manic phase before. In the hospital they drugged me up with Geodon and Topamax for my migraines. I was on these meds for 4 days. I stopped the Topomax because my migraines are actually ice pick migraines and they don't last long so I don't feel the need to take a prescription for them. Then the Geodon...

Hello, I took abilify for five years, One thing is that when you take ablilify it is added with another medication usually, and i lost all of my hair while taking it but not because of they abilify, it was from the depicote or what ever-eles i took, but after i got off the depecote, my hair grew back my hair is growing now, but if you havent took it very long you may be having other side effects like the shaking, i will say that dose go away and you get very much better..

There is a connection with taking Abilify and acne .

Did you ask your pharmacist if abilify and ambien and any other meds you might be taking, including OTC meds, might be interacting to cause you to feel like this? Sometimes pharmacists know more about adverse drug interactions than dr's. Just a thought.

Are you saying you were put on Abilify before you were put on Celexa? Because if you've only been on Celexa a few days, Abilify wouldn't be appropriate. It's only a last resort medication because of its side effect profile and because it isn't known to work by itself, only in combination with another med. If, for example, you have depression, and you're on medication and its helping but not quite enough and you've tried everything else, that's what Abilify is for.

When I looked up weight gain and bipolar medications, Abilify was at the bottom of the list for weight gain, Geodon people gained the least then Abilify. I'm on 2mg. of Abilify and in the begining you tend to feel sleepy, that's why they start you on it at bedtime. I would be surprised if Abilify caused a racing heart but you definately have to tell your doc about that. I was also on Wellbutrin and had to come off because it caused to much anxiety.

Now the abilify, I was suppose to increase from 2 mg today to 4mg, I wanted to tknow if 2 mg was a thereaputic dose and also can I take have of that and take 1 mg since Im so sensititve and that might work, Its been keeping me up at night the abilify, makes my mind and body racy and alert...Waiting for my dr to call back, but sometimes that doesnt happen......

Any one on Klonopin and abilify for depression and anxiety...Does any one take thesse natural products witht them.

Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).

I have just started taking Aripiprazole(Abilify) and have found it to have some beneficial effects on my mood. However I am also finding myself to be extremely drowsy. I have heard that this side effect wears off with time. Has anyone else experienced this? It's the first antipsychotic I've taken that's had any effect so I don't want to stop it but the fact I can literally go to sleep while standing up is making my life difficult.

I have not heard of antipsychotics being addictive but I do know Abilify is activating and can disrupt sleep. As well although its FDA approved for bipolar its primary use is as an antipsychotic so it may not be as effective as a standard mood stabilizer.

Okay guys so my axiety was letting up a bit and the other day i was very nervous at the hospital and they gave my .5 in my IV..the next morning i woke up and i felt really heavy and like i was buzzing..i didn't take any ativan this day but then the next day i took it per my doctor and then i woke up yesterday with the worst panic attack ever!!the doc told me to take one again..so i did and after two hours my anxiety was the worst i have ever experienced..EVER!..I thought i would died..
