I do not believe the medications the medical community has place him on are worth the side-effects. They placed him on Levetiracetam, Benztropine, and Abilify, and the side-effects are NOT worth the potential benefit of what--self-control? I have worked with youth in placement for 18 years, and these medications do not make any significant difference in their judgments because they do not change their value system.

While I enjoyed the reduced social anxiety, the uncharateristic anger and sleeplessness were unbearable. I suggest you tell your doctor everything and trust that he or she will make the right decisions for your treatment. Do not stop taking it until your doctor sees how to best wean you off the medication. I wish you success in your treatment, and may you find the peace we all deserve.

What you experience may be quite different from what everyone has posted. You might take Abilify and find that you have no side effects and it helps you and you will continue to take it. You might find that you get side effects that you can't tolerate and then you will quit it. The only way to find out is by trying it.

I am on 90 mg of Cymbalta and just started 15 mg of Abilify for depression. My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have only started the Abilify so far on day 3 … I was supposed to start together but I dropped the pristiq bottle and pills fell on floor now because of contamination ocd I can’t take them and insurance won’t pay for a refill yet so doctor says just take the Abilify for now , I’m noticing it is helping me to change my behavior versus the ssri just kinda helped me manage my existing behaviors but never had courage or motivation to change my behaviors so I’m hoping that’s where Abilify will come

Hi I have been on 5 mg of abilify and also klonopin since jan..09.Recently i have been having severe dizziness.,y ear hurt so wen to dr put me on antibotic...Abilify has helped my depression so much but im wondering f it would start causing dizziness after being on it since jan 20 09...

Hello, I took abilify for five years, One thing is that when you take ablilify it is added with another medication usually, and i lost all of my hair while taking it but not because of they abilify, it was from the depicote or what ever-eles i took, but after i got off the depecote, my hair grew back my hair is growing now, but if you havent took it very long you may be having other side effects like the shaking, i will say that dose go away and you get very much better..

There is a connection with taking Abilify and acne .

My 3yo son does not sleep but maybe 3-4hrs a night if that and his Dr which I disagree with says he will grow out of it I am worried and I think its a problem. He also has other strange things that he does like line all of a certin toy in a row, or scream for no reason, will not eat meat at all. He always walks on his tippy toes and he has a major speech delay. There other numerous things that he does that are not normal but I have listed these for now. Please Help!

Hello! Let me tell you from experience this is TOTALLY normal. As a matter of fact...it's 3 AM and I'm awake because of my anxiety right now. I have developed a routine before bedtime now which really seems to help me. I lay in bed, get on my computer, and play a few games of cards. I go to bed when I start to feel tired. The cards help keep my mind off the anxiety and relaxes me. If this doesn't work I take a warm relaxing bath before bedtime and read.

I think most of us know perfectly how you feel. I'm almost 32 weeks and can't remember last time I actually slept good. Tonight it took me 2 hours to fall asleep then I woke up 2 hours ago to pee and needless to say I'm exhausted eyes heavy and burning but all I've accomplished is a lot of tossing and turning and even done woke my husband up twice.

However, as these few weeks have passed I have some nights where I do get some sleep. And I have not been getting any exercise at all and keep telling myself to get moving because it might help, but haven't been able to do it yet. No answers but lots of sympathy. Best wishes for some sleep soon.

s 240 am and I am bright eyes and wide awake, although I should be exhausted from working open to close all weekend and then being called in on my day off yesterday. Sometimes I find it helps to fall asleep on the couch first. I toss and turn a lot in bed and find it's easier to stay in one position on the couch. I sometimes read old textbooks too, or I read a book that I can't quite get into, because reading tires me out now.

Im finding it very hard and disturbing to sleep at night. I find myself waking up at 1am everynight no matter what time i go to sleep. Any good sleep positions or remedies for sleep at night? I have to wake up at 7am on the weekdays and im always so tired in the morning's now due to constantly waking up at night...

Did you ask your pharmacist if abilify and ambien and any other meds you might be taking, including OTC meds, might be interacting to cause you to feel like this? Sometimes pharmacists know more about adverse drug interactions than dr's. Just a thought.

Are you saying you were put on Abilify before you were put on Celexa? Because if you've only been on Celexa a few days, Abilify wouldn't be appropriate. It's only a last resort medication because of its side effect profile and because it isn't known to work by itself, only in combination with another med. If, for example, you have depression, and you're on medication and its helping but not quite enough and you've tried everything else, that's what Abilify is for.

When I looked up weight gain and bipolar medications, Abilify was at the bottom of the list for weight gain, Geodon people gained the least then Abilify. I'm on 2mg. of Abilify and in the begining you tend to feel sleepy, that's why they start you on it at bedtime. I would be surprised if Abilify caused a racing heart but you definately have to tell your doc about that. I was also on Wellbutrin and had to come off because it caused to much anxiety.

Now the abilify, I was suppose to increase from 2 mg today to 4mg, I wanted to tknow if 2 mg was a thereaputic dose and also can I take have of that and take 1 mg since Im so sensititve and that might work, Its been keeping me up at night the abilify, makes my mind and body racy and alert...Waiting for my dr to call back, but sometimes that doesnt happen......

Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).

I have just started taking Aripiprazole(Abilify) and have found it to have some beneficial effects on my mood. However I am also finding myself to be extremely drowsy. I have heard that this side effect wears off with time. Has anyone else experienced this? It's the first antipsychotic I've taken that's had any effect so I don't want to stop it but the fact I can literally go to sleep while standing up is making my life difficult.
